Apple isn't gonna' give anything away for free. The new prices now include the cost of the extra RAM and hard drive space, just as when you would customise your order with Apple. Most people do want more RAM and drive space, so they're just saving people the time and trouble. Nothing else.

Hi, new Macbook owner here. So far so good, but does anyone find the DivX movie playback on the Mac OS a little fuzzy compared to Windows XP?

OK, is it just me or do the iPods and Macbooks get scratched way too easily. Seems almost as if they get scratched without me even touching them!

Have any of you guys tried the new MacBook firmware update yet? I'm hesitant to, as I like that my MacBook is super quiet as I've never even heard the fans on before. Even if it gets a little hot, I just love the silent operation of it.

With this update, temps are supposed to come down, but the fans will be on more often as a result. Tell me what you guys think or how it goes if you install the update.

But are the fans on more often now? A little more noisy than before?

I'm not 100% sure, but I think it's safe to delete it. Once the patch has altered the System Management files it's a permanent change, so there's no longer any need for the downloaded file.

Hi guys, I've got this strange problem with my Macbook screen. There are what look like smudges on the screen (visible only against a dark background e.g front row) except that they're not really on the screen so they can't be wiped off. They appear to be behind the screen. Just suddenly appeared. Anyone else had this problem?

I'm hoping I'll be able to get this fixed as my Macbook's still under warranty.
