QUOTE(xandman @ Aug 3 2007, 06:34 AM) nope... it's integrated... it's not even possible to upgrade the graphics card on the mbp...=)... Hey mate, I noticed that you have a MacBook Pro. Do you do your photography touchup on the MBP? How is the performance of Photoshop CS2/CS3 on the MBP? Compared to your Intel E6600 PC. I am contemplating whether should I just upgrade my desktop computer or get a MBP. I am leaning closer to a MBP as I would like to be able to touch up photos on the go as well as I do some sort of video editing (mostly slideshows). Any help would be great. Anyone else has any comments as well? Thanks!

QUOTE(zio @ Aug 3 2007, 01:48 PM) @Mavik Photoshop CS2 will run slower compared to a PC because it is not universal. Running it on the MBP or MB will force a Rosetta emulation and it will slow down the process. (I believe I got this right) Photoshop CS3 will be rather fast since it is universal. As usual, photo and video editing is GPU and RAM intensive. So the more RAM you have on the MBP, the better it is. Personally, with the price you are paying for the MBP, you can get a really, really good desktop. But with the MBP, you are paying for the mobility and the fact that Mac OS X is quite safe. No more worries about spyware or viruses. I am using the MB at the moment but using GIMP so no kedai foto to test out @munky It can play 720p videos. Not too sure about 1080i... Sorry to sound quite noob but what is GIMP?

QUOTE(tinkerbel @ Aug 3 2007, 03:51 PM) @Mavik, I don't use CS2 much on my MBP but i find it a little 'slow'. Also, sometimes the application closes by itself (especially if you're using Photoshop & Illustrator together). I haven't begun exploring CS3 on my MBP but I been told CS3 works more efficiently on the Intel-based Macs in comparison to CS2 *shrugs* If boot up time for each application is going to help, I'll do a comparison and post it up here for you - let me know Yeah because Photoshop CS3 is coded with Universal Binary so Mac doesn't need to use the Rosetta Emulation to run it. Been scouring around to see the difference of Photoshop CS3 on a Macbook and a Macbook Pro.

QUOTE(yetieater @ Aug 5 2007, 07:17 PM) You might be able to find some benchmarks on www.barefeats.com I just got my hands on my own MacBook Pro 15" 2.4GHz. It's a lovely machine and I spent a couple of hours getting used to it and Mac OS X last night. Wow thanks for the link. That is exactly what I was looking for to make a comparison Added on August 5, 2007, 10:17 pmQUOTE(ifer @ Aug 5 2007, 09:42 PM) went to pcfair and saw macstudio there. anyway, took a leaflet of the MBP. then went to KLCC and saw machine is opened. went in to have a chat with the sales about the availability of the MBP. then saw their leaflet. and to my suprise, the machine leaflet mentioned that the 2.2Ghz MBP is giving a 1x2gb RAM. asked the sales person there and she said should be true... but the 2.4 Ghz spec is giving 2x1GB RAM. funny... hopefully it's true though I checked the Machines website and found that the 2.2GHz MBP is given 1x2Gb of RAM as well. http://www.machines.com.my/product_macbookpro_spec.phpThis post has been edited by Mavik: Aug 5 2007, 10:17 PM

QUOTE(ifer @ Aug 5 2007, 10:45 PM) wow... if it's true wan... then save alot of money leh. no need to buy 2x2gb to max out RAM... the thing is, i told them if i placed an order now, when will i expect to receive the MBP... they said probably 4 weeks, but cant confirm. cheh! Yeah currently the 15" MBPs are out of stock. I talked to my friend working at the Mac shop at 1 Utama and he said the last guy who ordered the 15" MBP waited about a month. At this rate, I would rather wait for Leopard to be released in October and consider the MBP then

QUOTE(zealless @ Aug 20 2007, 02:14 PM) all pro mac user, i am planning to get macbook pro so the question is ... 1. when is the next macbook pro coming out ? 2. how much better than the current one ? 3. should i get the current one, or wait for the next one ? 4. should i get the 2.2 or 2.4 ? diff is 8600GT 128 vs 256 please advise ... TQ 1. The new one was released quite recently with the new Santa Rosa processor and LED backlights 2. You can check out the benchmarks at http://www.barefeats.com3. You might have to wait for a while before a new MBP is released by Apple. 4. The difference will depend on what are you using the MBP on. If you are using it for games then of course the added 128MB of video memory will help.
