well, RAM issues, so far I have not had any from my previous exp with my PB. Just as long as you get one from a reputable manufacturer..i will do. and it is much cheaper than getting it from Apple. My local Apple store are selling RAMs not sourced from Apple, but from reputable manufacturers, and they are cheaper.

Not sure about MB/MBP, as I have not got mine yet, but i guess should not be a problem...

APPLE laptops bought in Singapore are among the 1.8 million affected by the Cupertino-based company's latest battery recall.

Of the 1.8 million Sony-manufactured batteries that Apple is taking back, 700,000 were sold to customers outside the United States. The company did not give a breakdown of which countries were affected.

Apple said the lithium-ion batteries did not meet its standards for safety and performance, and were prone to overheating.

Apple Singapore declined to say how many users here are affected when contacted by The Straits Times.

In 2004 and last year, the company sold 24,000 laptop computers here, according to figures from research firm IDC.

The battery recall affects the Apple iBook G4 and PowerBook G4 laptops sold worldwide between October 2003 and this month.

A dedicated website (http://www.apple.com/ support/batteryexchange/2006/faq/) listing the model and serial numbers of machines with the faulty batteries has been set up.

Singapore users can order replacement batteries through Apple's authorised service providers here, with delivery coming in four to six weeks. A list of providers can be found at http://www.asia.apple.com/buy/locator/ svcindex.html

Apple advises customers to stop using the affected batteries, and connect the laptops to a power socket instead.

Merom is showing up in the wild now. Any idea about Apple's plans for Merom and the MacBook / MacBook Pro? I'm sure there's quite some speculation adrift..

Just looked at the Apple Expo Paris website. September seems like a ripe time for Apple to announce a move to Merom.. I was looking through a couple of forums for old speculation, some as early as March. Supposedly Apple has gathered a healthy supply of Merom chips. I'll have to snag an MBP once the new chips are in use biggrin.gif

good for you, i am hoping that they will update their macbooks too as i am planning on getting them mainly due to its portability. size is important to me. also, a post at www.tuaw.com linked to a blog where this guy successfully runned vista with aero(all the eye-candy) without any problems. So, am looking forward to a Core 2 Duo MacBook with Leopard and 2GB of RAM smile.gif
