I've read somewhere in MacWorld in words of Apple that the 13" MBs are aimed at replacing the 12" PB as well....

so that means there's no 12" MBPs in the future....? unsure.gif unsure.gif

It's pissing me off that the MacBook gets the "place two fingers on trackpad and click button for secondary click" feature that the current 17" MBP has, but not on the 15" MBP. Grrrr... Where's my software update Apple?!?!
*
you can't really be chasing afteer technology.... especially when Apple switched to the fast lane.... that's the reason i prefer the PowerPC platform instead; slow but obvious upgrades....

anyway, if it's upgradable/enable via firmware, I'm sure you can hack if you want to.... brows.gif

PPC was the reason why I noticed myself using my VAIO and PC desktop more and more in the past even though Windows was not my thing, but it offered speed, and speed is of utmost importance to my work. I just couldn't deal with the kind of sluggishness PPC had caused OS X. But now Intel changes everything and I don't see any reason to use Windows anymore, well except for Oblivion. PPC was the bottleneck that was slowing down OS X, it had its glorious days but it has to go now.
*
erm... I'm not referring to that "slow" actually.... sweat.gif sweat.gif sweat.gif

Yeah? What "slow" were you referring to?
*
i'm referring to slow upgrades like those of 6- to 8-month revisions under PPC..... with Intel shakehead.gif shakehead.gif shakehead.gif everybody feels cheated whenever there's new hardware/speed bumps....

12 months installment with interest free is a very good deal.. especially if u can't afford it that moment..

i understand that the RAM itself costs RM1000 rite?

can i purchase it via third party and install it myself w/o voiding warranty?
*
yes you can (and do pick the right ones, recent Macs are very picky about RAMs), and it won't void your warranty unless you screw something up during installation.... it happened before on the iMacs, users pushed the RAM module so hard that it broke the logic board.... neither the standard warranty nor the ACPPs cover user negligence...

QUOTE(uchan @ May 31 2006, 05:18 PM)
Guys, i have a doubt

Click Me

iBook                            |            MacBook
----------------------------------------------------------------------
G4 1.42GHz                   |                  Core Duo 2.0GHz ?
5.7                                |                       29.1 5.1X
               SPECint_rate_base2000
            Integer calculation (estimate)
i dont understand, why they compare a iBook, which have a 1.42Ghz only with a 2.0 Core Duo?

Why they dont compare iBook/PowerBook with/around 2.0Ghz with 2.0 Core Duo??
*
because the last revision iBook G4 only reached 1.42GHz maxed while the last revision PowerBook G4 reached 1.67GHz maxed....

both product categories never reach 2.0GHz (supposedly on a G5) because the G5 chips were too hot to fit into a slim form factor such as those laptops above....

EDITED:

even third party G4 processor upgrades peaked only at 1.92GHz....

there's no apple-only-ram because all ram use in mac is the same ram used in pcs.. the different is apple test it on mac and it works so they charge us for the testing, that's why the price for lowyat's ddr2 1gb ram - around rm400 and apple-tested ram - rm1000.. how dare u apple cheat us your loyal customer  vmad.gif

so Bahir. it is better u bought a mac and when u want to upgrade, do it yourself  tongue.gif  save more money + you will learn a lot  biggrin.gif

are you sure these ram's been tested to run fine on a macbook....? blink.gif blink.gif

Currently I am using Apacer 1gb for my Macbook Pro and tested ok. No problem so far. Is there any concern or performance if I use Apacer rather than Kingston?
*
brand-wise, I doubt so....

I'm using TwinMOS for my machine well known for its RAM compatibility issue, not a problem.....

Was thinking of getting a MacBook as a cruncher, but seeing those CPU temperatures on load, really scares the hell out of me....

i was told by my supplier that the 1st batch of Macbook (only 10 units) arrived yesterday and it was snappend up today mad.gif

why would they wanna ship only 10 units to malaysia????

according to him, i'll have to wait 2 weeks more for the second batch to come...

me mentioned that the 10 units are most probably demo units for the apple centers.......

so i think the apple shops have it already......hehehe......for demo that is.....

I read something today that has made me seriously reconsider a MacBook purchase..

Some MacBooks Plagued by Discoloration

I know I know..its a purely "cosmetic" issue but c'mon Stevie..! You can do better than that....Id have expected a lil better from Apple man.  cry.gif

and apparently Apple does not cover those defects..... what a bummer.... shakehead.gif
