What's your grade.. MMU got only 2 intakes for foundation(I guess) which is feb and jun, I took the jun intake as I'm having NS.

BTW, do I have to send my xray together with the reply letter which requested for my detail, library application, hostel requested, medical checkup? Because I'm afraid the xray photo might damage on postage.
*
You no need to post the X-ray film. They need the result of the X-ray test which will be put in the medical forms that MMU sent to you.

Anyway any good place near MMU melaka campus, far abit nevermind(less than an hours walk.
*
smile.gif The nearer your house to MMU, the more expensive it is. Last time i used to stay at Taman Kerjasama... only 5 minutes walk to MMU and the rental for one house is RM1200! Shared among 8 tenants and i had to share room with a roommate, somemore the room is quite small and hot.

Now i'm staying in Taman Bukit Melaka, and it took me 15 minutes to walk to MMU. The rental for the entire house is only RM500 per month. Installed streamyx etc and my monthly rental is around rm230 inc. utilities and internet access.

QUOTE(gsdfan @ Apr 17 2006, 12:46 PM)
I'm from WP BTW.

I'll maybe get a bicyle there as I don't have car so i can go by bike to campus.

My requirement for hostel is- MUST GOT STREAMYX!!! if not cannot download show anymore.
*
I cycle to campus too. smile.gif After you settle down in MMU, try to search for 2nd hand bicycles... mine i got for rm70 only and it serves me well. As for hostel, unfortunately you cannot download via BT. KazaA or other p2p programs as the management had blocked those relevant ports. Best if you just rent a room outside of MMU.

And, Welcome to MMU. I'm from FIST, Gamma BIS smile.gif

smile.gif It all depends, you can even get a RM300 house but you'll need to walk 30 minutes. If you find house nearer to MMU, then rental will be expensive and you have to find more tenants to lower down the individual rents.

Just for example:
My previous house = rm1200 per month, shared by 8 ppl in 4 rooms. Everyone pays around rm150. But you'll have to stick with some bastards if your housemates/roommates really sucks. Moreover you can imagine 8 ppl shared a 1MB line, 7 of them BT on for 24/7 sweat.gif

My current house, rm500 per month. 3 rooms, 3 housemates. I got my own room! More convenient as sometimes my gf will come. tongue.gif Quiet, peaceful... hehe.

I'll list down some locations:
1. Taman Bunga Raya - This taman is situated just behind of MMU. You can enter MMU from the side entrance near the tennis court. Price is on the high side for the row of houses facing MMU, but further away it will be cheaper.
Bad points: If you're Malay then no prob; else chinese gonna walk a distance to find food.

2. Taman Kerjasama - This taman located behind Petronas. This is where i stayed last time... the RM1200 per house one. It all depends on the distance from your house to MMU; further the cheaper. You can always walk to MMU corner or other nearby shops for your meals. Very convienient.
Bad points: hmm... students normally complain bout the safety, as burglary happens once a while.

3. Taman Bukit Melaka - The taman i'm currently staying. Location is just opposite of Taman Bunga Raya. Can say is the furthest taman from mmu gua... but rental is cheap and food is easily accessible.
Bad points: distance lo, what else?

4. Taman Dahlia - Located at the left side of MMU. Very far from restaurants but near to mmu lo.
Bad points: Trouble finding food. Robbery etc is quite a norm in this taman.

5. EP (Emerald Park) - Damn noisy, lousy internet connection. Only thing good is you can wake up on 9:55am and still early for your 10am class. Food ah... ok lo, EP's food cannot complain much.

6. UA (University Apartment) - Quite a distance from MMU. But well got swimming pool, got lift... malay food is easy to find, chinese food you have to walk a distance.

The rest... i'm not sure lo coz i don't walk here walk there tongue.gif Hope that helps. smile.gif

It depends. Some landlords will require you to sign an agreement. Like my previous house, the landlord gave us 2 choices:

1. Sign agreement for 1 year, rental will be rm1200 per month but the next year's rental will adjust according to current market value.
2. Sign 3 years agreement (that time all of us still beta students), then rental remains at rm1200 per month for 3 years.

We chosen the 2nd one, but i moved out after a year coz cannot tahan those housemates. sweat.gif

My current house is rm500 per month, no agreement so if you're really unlucky, the landlord might wanna use back his house and halau u all. But till now still ok la smile.gif 3 of us stayed in this house, 3 rooms, everyone pays rm200 per month. The extra rm100 is to cover our electric, water, and streamyx bills. But rm100 is definately not enuf one la... coz all of us on computer 24/7, end up every month's electricity bill is around rm150~180, + streamyx rm66 per month, water around rm5~8...

basically you'll need to spend around rm160~250 on rental + utilities lo. smile.gif By the way, you must take into consideration of your room too. Master bedrooms are more expensive, that's for sure.

hard to find to be truth if you're looking for single rooms.
You might get, but the house might not up to your expectations.
You'll mostly ended up with sharing room too. sweat.gif
If type of house is not your problems, shophouses along taman bukit melaka might suits you.

smile.gif Hostel perhaps?

RM200 most probably u'll have to share room with someone, if you want your house near MMU. Heck, my current room is rm200 per month, single somemore. But at the expence of walking 15mins/ cycle 5mins to campus lo... Well, i normally cycle so 5mins ain't a big deal.

Not sure whether MMU has its own ftp coz u can download virtually anything to everything through BT tongue.gif

With RM200, you can get a nice room in Melaka. Houses at Tmn Dahlia is a little expensive if compared to other places.

tongue.gif its a noisy place, bad internet connection. Basically you're stuck with http/ftp downloads so say bye bye to BT or other p2p apps lo... Good thing is the infamous bus-stand burger stall is very near, somemore you can solve your meals by just walking to the ground floor smile.gif
