i could save some money by buying this amazing hybrid if there is GT750M version to catch up with games before i buy an illegear. but, how should i use it on the transit since this a massive hybrid? rclxub.gif

I thought you were going for an Alienware? haha laugh.gif
After wasting so much money on all these computing devices... at the end of the day... the best combination will be an ultrabook + desktop.
You might have the time to game on the go right now.. but once you start working... it doesn't matter whether you have a kick@ss notebook or netbook, its all the same since you don't have time to do much on it anyways haha tongue.gif

I wanna ask about acer laptop product? is it an okay product? because I heard a lot of heating problems on it and people around me have been breaking their acer laptops... but for some reason, i just think it was their fault.. rclxub.gif
*
Recent Acer products seemed pretty okay already hmm.gif
Just try not to expect too much from them if you are going for the most budget models (which applies for all brands) nod.gif

if peoples were to complain that it was their sh*tty build quality, i would just laugh at them. these peoples doesnt get the knowledge of getting a lemon/touch wood unit, which is a result from their luck. my father had use an acer for a year, and this laptop has passed to me during my 1st year at junior high. even after i got an alienware at my 1st year senior high, the laptop is still working great, and it is aged 4 years old by the time.

ah, now where did i put that acer? maybe it is covered with dust now.
*
Haha, at the end of the day it still depends on the "line" of the notebooks la laugh.gif
Budget line ones will definitely have poorer build quality than the premium ones~
I personally don't like the Aspire V5 series... the newer hybrids seemed pretty decent though thumbup.gif

Hello sifus, thanks for the advice before.

Do you have any infos about the new MSI Haswell ge60 -2oe laptop? Is it good? About the brand itself, is MSI reliable? that is in terms of build quality and after-sales service. My local shop kept hinting me not to buy Asus and Dell and opt for MSI instead.

I also need a few suggestions for my sister.

Preferred Brand : none
Budget              : Around 2.0k
Usage              : assignments, movies
Screen size        : 15''6 or below

She plans to use it for the long haul. So one with great durability please. haha

Thanks in advance.
*
MSI has not been very competitive and updated when it comes to their non-gaming lineups of notebooks hmm.gif
I would suggest a Dell since it offers the best warranty service in Malaysia (can't say the same for Asus)
14"
Dell Vostro 5460, i3-3120M + HD 4000@RM1,549[1.54kg], 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), Ubuntu 12.04, 3 cell; W8SL@RM1,749

Go for the one with W8SL and use the remaining budget ~RM250 to extend warranty to 3 years and you're good to go icon_rolleyes.gif
Slim, good-looking and light notebook, I'm sure your sister will love it laugh.gif

hi all

preferred brand: none but not easily heated + torrenting
budget around rm2-2.3k
usage: work, torrenting, and gaming

i planned to use it 24hours torrenting
size of HDD and SSD matters though.....
win 7 preferred due win 8 dont support most games out there

hope you all recommend me these type and.... one more request, reseller, so i can bought thanks

Closest would be:
14"
Lenovo Z400, i5-3230M + Nvidia GT740M@RM2099, 4GB, 1TB, W8; 2 years warranty

Don't think you'll be able to downgrade to W7, and most of the newer notebooks are already running on W8. And are you sure W8 don't "support most games out there"? hmm.gif

If you can up your budget abit, then perhaps the Y400 would be a better pick, but you'll have to install W7 yourself:
14"
Lenovo Y400, i7-3630QM + Nvidia GT750M@RM2499, 4GB, 500GB, FreeDOS, 120wPSU, swappable ODD, 2 years warranty

Can look for "devour" here in LYN if you're interested in buying~

Nope haha, she's using Lenovo ThinkPad Edge 11 from company tongue.gif
I just help my colleague purchased one ULV Vostro 5460 though haha, apart from the touchpad, really love it~
Its amazing how they manage to squeeze so much into such a slim profile yet still manage to keep the design interesting rclxms.gif

I call the salesman, he told me that the Asus Extended Warranty program need to be done by myself through online. I think extend another 1year international warranty which about RM350. What do you think? hmm.gif

I don't think its worth it for Asus since their warranty service is not good hmm.gif
but its just my opinion la, RM350 is ALOT of money for one year warranty extension sad.gif

Hi, guys. I need some advice and recommendation for choosing a new laptop, seems like it's time to replace my old one. I prefer lightweight, sleek design, with a huge RAM memory as I need to install lots of programs and files for study, and also some RP gaming, internet surfing and good media performance especially audio. Have good processor to avoid lags and longer battery life.

1. Preferred Brand: Dell preferably
2. Budget: Not more than RM3.5k
3. Usage: Uni study purpose and work, some movies, entertainment and light gaming, Microsoft, Eviews, SPSS, Photoshop.
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: 15.6" (Prefer bigger screen at least 15'' for ease of work and assignments)

Thanks in advance.

Use remaining budget to extend the warranty to 3 years and you're good to go thumbup.gif

i downloaded the manual from dell's site. its actually referring to the current memory that comes with the laptop, with maximum 4GB of RAM.
it is from table 9 under specifications column, right?

Its upgradable to 8GB, someone in the dedicated Vostro 5460 has already done it icon_rolleyes.gif

Hi guys, after returning the Inspiron 15R SE,I plan to buy a new laptop within this month smile.gif

1. Preferred Brand: Lenovo,Dell,Acer or any that has better aftersale service
2. Budget: 4k+ -
3. Usage: Programming, light photoshop and web development
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: 14 or above

Currently eyes on Illegear RE-15,I would plug the laptop to an external dell U2312HM smile.gif Other than RE-15,any other is fall in my choice? Prefer Haswell processor as they provide better battery life consumption smile.gif
I heard Acer V series haswell would only available in Q3 or Q4 2013,is it true? sad.gif
*
Haswell was just launched not too long ago... so many of the available models in the market now are still not equipped with them yet. Wait for a while longer if you want to see what every brand has to offer icon_rolleyes.gif
Otherwise, you can consider this one as well:
14"
Lenovo Y410p, i7-4700MQ + GT750M(GDDR5)@RM2899, 8GB, 1TB, W8, red backlit, 120w psu, swappable ODD, 2 years warranty

*use the remaining budget to upgrade to SSD.
* Since you have a good external monitor, rely on that one instead for better and more accurate color reproduction for your editing work

If you are into gaming, the new Lenovo Y410 and Y510 are the ones to look out for, powered by Haswell nod.gif
Touch screen is more of a marketing gimmick, try not to fall for that haha, especially if you are not getting a hybrid notebook
