Oh thanks for suggestion, all this time ive been looking at the lenovo thinkpad, not the ideapad lol. Is the ideapad better? The Asus G series look pretty powerful too but is it pricey?

Please help me buy a new laptop based on the following criteria

1. Preferred Brand - Lenovo/Asus/Dell
2. Budget - Below RM1200
3. Usage
- I mainly will use the laptop for surfing internet, Facebook, Youtube, torrent, P2P, very little photo editing and watching movies.
4. Preferred laptop/screen size
- 14 inch
- Long battery life
- Dual core processors because I tend to do multitasking (downloading while watching movies)
- Not very heavy
- Quite slim
- No overheating problem because I usually use it for very long hour 6 hours++
- Nice display
- 500GB HDD
- 4 GB RAM if possible
- Chicklet design keyboard
- Black/silver color
- Free DOS
- No touch screen
- Good audio quality with decent loud speaker
- Good build quality because I tend to "abuse" the laptop a bit
- At least 3 USB ports
- Maybe have extra features like fast boot, security, spill-proof, backup, etc

Thank you very much. But, why no Asus? Is Asus no good? I know Asus makes quality laptops but how are their support in Malaysia?

I've been reading and reading about which brand to buy. I'm not new in buying laptop. I've bought 3-4 Acer, 2 Asus, 1 Compaq, 1 Toshiba, 2 HP minis and used my brother's dell netbook. Not for myself only but for my friends and family. I heard that Asus and Toshiba is good but to me not that good. I've used a lot of Acer from Inspire to Travelmate and I'm satisfied with them despite a lot of people saying Acer is no good. In the end of the day, I just need a reliable laptop that won't die on me for at least 3 years. Is that a lot to ask for a budget of RM1200?

Preferred Brand: Lenovo y500 without SLi @ New Acer V3
Budget: max RM3k
Usage: CAD/engineering software/movie

Torn between those two. V3 is best value but afraid on heat dissipation and gt730 capability for rendering?
Y500 a bit overbudget for me and need to upgrade RAM sumore.

In the 2 links above, I'm comparing the RM1399 15' laptop with the RM1299 14' unit. I'm just curious how come the 15' unit just cost extra RM100 compared to the 14' unit with a slightly better processor, extra 2gb RAM and extra W8 OS or is there any hidden information that I missed out?

Also I would like to know is touch screen feature useful and worth the price for W8 cause I have no experience with W8 yet. If so can sifu pls recommend me some budget laptops with the feature?

Why the seller telling me that this laptop has 2 graphic card which is intel4000 and nvidia 650? I read from the website said that this model is dual graphic sli which supposed to have to nvidia 650 work together.. and he tell me the warranty is only 1 year unlike website stated 2 years? Guys,when I purchasing my dell Inspiron 15R special edition,the Sales representative told me that the mSATA SSD could not be upgrade to higher capacity.If I upgrade myself,it will automatically void and engineer refuse to inspect my laptop when I got any problem in the future
