Hi Raymond,
You are correct, the Illegear is definately nice. However, they don't have an outlet in Penang so I have to deal with them online. & Malaysian retailers are unfortunately infamous on online support. However, Illegear seems to have very few negative reports so I am thinking of getting a laptop from them. Downside is, I drool whenever I visit their website & by the time I finish customizing the laptop to what I would love to have, I'm way over budget. *sigh*.

I saw this review on the Schenker XMG A523 (Clevo W350ST) Notebook which I believe is the same model as the RE-15.
http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Schenk...ok.94048.0.html

Any idea on what the bare bones Clevo model is for the RE-17?

Thanks,
*
Very true on the Bolded part laugh.gif
By the time I'm finished with the RS-15, its already RM10k already sweat.gif sweat.gif sweat.gif sweat.gif sweat.gif

agree with what sifu T.J. said. for AMD entry level cards, pricing will be starting RM2k and above.

APU equipped ones are cheaper but the are bottlenecking the raw processing power.

... and also driver problems laugh.gif
Seriously I dunno what AMD is doing at the moment haihs sweat.gif
Maybe they are giving up on the notebook gaming section? laugh.gif

guess what, my customizations are priced at RM6437 for the laptop, with windows 8 pro bundled but no RAM and HDD kits. processor 4700MQ and HD8970M.

add in a corsair vengeance 16GB kit for RM496, Intel 520 120GB SSD RM427 and 1TB 7200rpm HGST HDD (USD169). my customizations aint cheap either, except if i could use pasar malam windows or use SL windows 8. laugh.gif  sweat.gif  sweat.gif
*
RS-15 or RE-15? shocking.gif
So cheap one? laugh.gif
I also dunno why mine is so expensive laugh.gif
I think I might need to "salvage" my SSD from my M14x LOL XD

1. Preferred Brand - [Ultrabook] Dell, Asus, Samsung, Toshiba
2. Budget - Below RM4500,
3. Usage - Office work, Software simulations
4. Preferred laptop/screen size - Quite powerful, screen size - 13"/14"

My mom has a budget allocated for her to buy a new laptop and she really prefers the ultrabooks. She's gonna use it mostly for office works & some software simulations. No gaming (duhh) & doesn't really mind about the audio/speaker.

Can someone please recommend some options for me? Thank you in advance.
*
Ultrabooks are usually not equipped with powerful processors yo laugh.gif
Still, can consider this one:
13"
Dell [Ultrabook] XPS13, i5-3337U + Intel HD4000 + 128GB SSD@RM3399[1.36kg], 4GB, W8, backlit
*Price in RRp, negotiable
*use remaining budget to extend warranty to 3 years complete cover (~RM800)

Otherwise, can consider these:
13"
Lenovo [ultrabook]IdeaPad Yoga 13, i5-3337U + Intel HD4000 + 128GB SSD@RM3399, 4GB, 2 years; colors: grey/orange

14"
Lenovo ThinkPad T430U, i5-3317U + Intel HD4000 + 24GB mSATA + 500GB HDD@RM3799, 4GB, W7P, 3 years on-site warranty

If she prefers something more powerful (but not an ultrabook, then perhaps this one):
14"
ThinkPad Edge E430, i7-3632QM + Nvidia GT635M + 16GB mSATA+750GB HDD@RM3399[2.2kg], W7P/W8, 4GB, anti-glare

Perhaps you can deal with "devour" here at LYN if you don't want to go to Digital Mall and Lowyat Plaza to try your luck icon_rolleyes.gif

The Lenovo Z500 would be a good choice, pretty balanced in terms of performance, weight and also looks:
15.6"
Lenovo Z500, i5-3230M + Nvidia GT740M@RM2299[2.2kg], 4GB, 1TB, backlit, W8; 2 years warranty

*price in RRP, negotiable; then use remaining budget to extend warranty to 3 years icon_rolleyes.gif

Its a pretty good machine, provided you are not worried about the poor warranty support by Asus Malaysia tongue.gif

hi guys, help me choosing a best for my needed below. i'm searching for a laptop that can be used for a long term.

Prefered Brand : Lenovo, Dell, Asus, MSI

Budget : 3k n below

Usage : Gaming (Farcry, call of duty, FIFA/PES etc .) . Multimedia, photo n video editing etc.

Prefered screen size : 15"

Prefered laptop : Lenovo Y510p / Asus S56CB

hmm.gif *i heard from a technician said that lenovo always has overheating issues and he suggested me the asus S56CB for a long term usage, but i  not prefer it at all.
hope u can help me doing a best deal for my needed. Thanks
*
Never trust technicians laugh.gif They will do anything to get you to buy their stuffs sweat.gif

Either Lenovo Y500/510p or MSI GE60k
15.6"
MSI GE60K, i5-3230M + Nvidia GTX660M + (1920x1080; anti-glare)@RM2899, 4GB, 750GB(7200rpm), W8, 2 years warranty

though the Y500/510p would still be the better pick because of the stronger CPU and also the potentially better performing GT750M SLI

thanks masta , a simple answer .. hehe biggrin.gif

btw, which better between Y510p single gpu and MSI GE60K from all aspect?

*still waiting for the Y510p .. huhu  doh.gif
*
yeah, the problem is that the Y510p is still not here yet laugh.gif

If you are only comparing the GPU performance, it depends. If you are into gaming the performance is more or less on par in between the GT750M and the GTX660M.
However, if you are into software support (photoshop, bioinformatics etc.), the GTX660m will offer a better edge~

NVIDIA GeForce GT 720M 2GB Graphics vs GT720m which one is good?

They are the same in terms of performance. VRAM doesn't affect performance (DON'T listen to what the salesperson tell you that higher is better!) icon_rolleyes.gif

1. Preferred Brand: Any brand will do.
2. Budget: RM3K
3. Usage: Gaming and university work
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: Any size will do.

I play games that does not really have heavy graphics occasionally. And also, I heard that Lenovo Y400/Y500 has overheating prob? :s

Like you said, Lenovo Y410p and Y500/Y510p nod.gif
No they don't have overheating problems... they just get hot when on load (gaming/rendering), just like all laptops do tongue.gif

Hi, please help me >.<

1. Preferred Brand - other than acer
2. Budget - 1200-2000
3. Usage - main on movie and heavy web browsing.
4. Preferred laptop/screen size -  >10"
*
Can consider these (only recommending the faster ones icon_rolleyes.gif)
14"
HP [Ultrabook] Envy4-1009TU/1019TU, i3-2367M + Intel HD3000 + 32GB mSATA+ 500GB(5400rpm)@RM1899[Beats][1.75kg], 4GB, W7HP

Lenovo [Ultrabook]S400, i5-3317U + Intel HD4000 + 24GB mSATA + 500GB(5400rpm)@RM1999[1.8kg], 4GB, W7HB; AMD HD7450M/W8@RM2199

Toshiba [Ultrabook] Satellite U840-1009X, i3-3217M + AMD HD7550M + (32GB mSATA + 500GB HDD)@RM1899[1.7kg], 4GB, W8P; backlit keyboard

The inclusion of an mSATA SSD will give you that extra performance gain, giving you a much faster, smoother computing experience~

Lenovo offers better warranty support than Asus nod.gif
Can consider the Z400, which is pretty much the best budget gaming notebook at the moment:

Lenovo Z400, i5-3230M + Nvidia GT740M@RM2099, 4GB, 1TB, W8; 2 years warranty; colors: chocolate
