Im thinking of doing lasik...which one better Optimax or Vista?
Im living in Klang/JB...Anyone tried Vista Klang by  Dr. Alan Koh Kok Khiang?
Pls give me some comments/Advice..Thx

2888 is for normal lasik, i do custom lasik RM5588 due to my eye power is very high.
When: End November 2011.
Where: advance vision
Power: Right 750myopia/550astig Left 800myopia/350astig
Treatment: Had custom wavefront lasik, which means the computer guided laser thingy does the cutting according to shape of each eye-this is supposed to give better result especially for glare/night driving problems and safe cornea tissues due to my eye power is very high.
Cost:RM 5588
My age: 25

Current situation
Doc say due to mine is high power, it will take longer time to recover. so far now had pass a week, my vision had recover around 70%, sometimes very clear but sometime might bit blur when look at small tiny words in pc or newspaper. Doc say need 1-2months than only can fully recover. i did not suffer any dry eye or irritation issues. probably 1 month before my surgery i had start consume bilberry daily (friend recormend as say it is very good for eye). will update again the conditions 1 month later.

i was wondering whether a person who's family has a history of glaucoma can qualify for laser eye surgery?

I have been wondering the motivations of many young people interesting it LASIK/LASEK to remove the dependency on spectacles/contact lens "forever".

Q1) if the procedure is successful and zero side effects.. the benefit last 20++ years (spec-less). For those who did it lets say at age 21, after they reach 40++ years old, presbyopia  sets in.. so its back to using spec again.

Q2) the "lifetime" guarantee by many LASIK centres to correct vision is dependent on the cornea thickness of patient. There is a limit on how many times a cornea can be reshaped to restore visual acuity.

Q3) As LASIK has tampered with the cornea (same like eye surgery), what happens when we have cataracts when we gets old (which is common as we aged). The success rate of cataract surgery depends on the integrity of the cornea too.

So its doing LASIK /LASEK first, enjoy for the next 30++ years, then start worry bout "higher" risks of visual impairment when we gets older for many of us here?

Finally, with all the different pricing and promotions by the centres... it started to become like "plastic surgery" already. Is there  a regulatory body to ensure all these centres provide the best support/care for their patients?

Been reading through this thread...funny thing is i did LASIK before i stumbled on all the NO to LASIK info found here...here is my personal experience; I had my LASIK done at OPTIMAX Kota Kinabalu in January 2011. The procedure was without complications although i have to say i felt sensations of being drowned in a body of water probably due to the watery solution they used during the operation and they used clamps to force the eyes open, so you basically can see everything - hence the drowning sensation.

My post-op experience was not very pleasant - no i did not have pain, in fact i didn't even touch the pain medication they provided and i also did not experience any dry eyes syndrome. My complaint was that my vision was blurry for at least 3 days which left me dependent on the kindness of others, something i am not used to.

When i shared my concerns with OPTIMAX, they did further tests and conclude that it seems that my vision was not able to be corrected to the level they hoped but i was told i would need to wait at least 6 months - 1 year for my vision to stabilize before they could do any further correction.

As the months progressed i found my reading ability has improved tremendously but i was not able to see very far...views 25 feet from me would be a problem since it would become blurry...driving at night was not a problem though because the glares and halos complications disappeared after a month.

A year has passed and OPTIMAX agreed that enhancement can be done to correct my vision. As of today I just had the enhancement done on the 25 May...I waited additional 6 months before i had my enhancement NOT because I was told to do so but because i had work and personal commitments.

I would like to report i am VERY HAPPY with the enhancement result...i can now see both near and far. It was like the result i thought i should have gotten after the first procedure a year ago. Again there was no pain, just slight dry eyes and no blurry vision this time around...in fact i was pleased to wake up a few hours after the operation and open my eyes to clear vision. And did i mentioned that the enhancement was done free of charge? Yes i did not have to pay a single cent.

Again i'd like to remind that my experience with LASIK might not be the same for everyone. I just thought i'd share what i have lived through for the last one and half years. The decision to go for LASIK and throwing away my glasses and contacts were among the best ones i did.

Just try not to have a too high expectations.
Not everyone will get the perfect vision.
I don't but still night & day compared to wearing glasses.

I intend to have do my lasik surgery at Sunway branch of Optimax, any1 have done the surgery at there b4, by DR. NOR ZAINURA ZAINAL?? Any huge difference if the surgery carried out by different doctors but they r from Optimax as well?? ~~~

full test is rm 175 with referral letter discount.

My power around 1300 plan to do lasik. Any recomendation for good doctor.
