guys, i went for lasik suitability check at Vista just now. The consultant told us (my gf and myself) that standard lasik is not suitable for us due to high power. Hence the process will take more than 60 seconds and normally the doctor will not approve the operation. She was saying that we both only can opt for the custom lasik which will be faster. Anyone encounter something similar? Any idea if this is the standard operation for all the other clinics? i really hope that i do not need to opt for the custom lasik as it is much more expensive
on a side note, anyone know if Advance Vision and Centre for Sight offer custom lasik as well and how much does it cost? Regards. |

QUOTE(prozachigh @ Jan 9 2013, 04:05 AM) hello all, I am a medically trained doctor who's had LASIK done by Dr Chew at chew eye specialist in Ipoh - personally I would not go for optimax or the big chains because they don't really care about you - you are just a number to them and even if you are high risk they will do without telling you just to get the comission. FYI, vista is using all bladeless also My experience with Dr Chew was very good at Ipoh - he was very professional and has a technology which cuts the flap without a blade! I believe even optimax and vista doesn't even have that technology!! If you google him at HDLASIK chew eye, he is very worth it!! I now have perfect vision, no problems whatsoever. And he is very honest. My sister came along with me and wanted to do LASIK, but he advised against it as her cornea was thin and higher risk of complications, whereas optimax just asked my sister to do it without even telling her about it!!! I would highly recommend Dr Chew!!! may i know how much is your package? thanks! This post has been edited by lencent: Jan 9 2013, 10:42 AM |

QUOTE(turion64 @ Aug 2 2013, 03:22 PM) hello, i was informed that currently KPJ and Optimax KL has this technology in Malaysia. And it costs >rm10k...i have just came across this new procedure called ReLex Smile. After some researching on the net, I found that this by far is the safest procedure. I think it is a fairly new procedure, just like to ask if anyone have tried it and is it really safe and as good as the reviews? |

i will be going for my lasik suitability check this weekend! but before that, i would like to enquire about the risk of glaring after lasik. my optometrist that did the preliminary test told me that my iris is bigger than normal ppl (7 dunno wat unit), i asked her what are the risks that it will get worse after lasik and she said need to do the suitability check by doctor to find out more.
i worry that after lasik, the glaring will be worse as even now if i drive at night, i find that my eyes are sensitive to the lights and glaring from all over the places especially driving on highway... any thought? |

hello ladies and gentlemen,
Finally did my operation 2 weeks back at Vista PJ. Initially i have planned for my operation to be at Vista JB. However, due to some machine issue they had to cancel my operation. Frantically, with all my leaves applied, I asked them to arrange for my operation the next day at Vista PJ with Dr. Aloysius. Lucky me there was still a slot available and so i drove all the way to KL to do my lasik. The operation took about 15 minutes but the waiting time was almost 1hr! The operation was done in two parts, first part to create the flaps and second part to perform the lasik. During the flap creation, i was quite nervous and the dr said the suction for creating the flap almost came off because i kept squeezing my eyes. It was the most horrifying experience for me as my vision was still clear and i could see what they did to my eyes. Besides, i temporary lost my left eye vision after the flap creation and couldnt see anything at all with my left eye! After that, we moved on to the next machine and they will insert an equipment to hold your eye open throughout the operation. the dr will tape down your eye lashes as well to prevent the lasik from burning them! xD the burning took less than a minute depending on the type of operation and your eyes power. Mine took about 43secs and i could smell the burning of the cells! However, the experience was not as bad as the flap creation, most probably because i couldnt see clearly with all the eye drops and tears in my eyes. The dr asked me to focus on the 'red' blinking light, but i couldnt do it at all as i only saw a red patch of light :S If you going to do lasik, try to open both your eyes, this could help you to look straight up. After the operation, the doctor asked me to try to read from the clock, i couldnt do it at all. i was worried that my result may not be good. I went back to sleep for entire day. At night, my vision were about 70% but with alot glares, halo and double vision. The next day, my visions were almost 90% where i could see the second last row of letters during my follow-up checkup! Good result Overall, i am a very satisfy customer of Vista and this is the best decision that i ever made! However, if you ask me to go through the same operation again i might think twice again. p/s: anyone managed to get the pre-operation report from Vista? i asked from them but they said they cannot give it out, Company rules and regulation :S |
