I haven't done it myself but from my friend who did it recently I know that this wasn't painful, he felt himself uncomfortable but he didn't feel actual pain. As for the risks, LASIK (like any operations) has its risks for sure. Here you can read some info about Lasik complications. Personally I think there is a very very small chance that a person will get blind. In my opinion, this chance is real small but still exists.
