guys, i went for lasik suitability check at Vista just now. The consultant told us (my gf and myself) that standard lasik is not suitable for us due to high power. Hence the process will take more than 60 seconds and normally the doctor will not approve the operation. She was saying that we both only can opt for the custom lasik which will be faster. Anyone encounter something similar? Any idea if this is the standard operation for all the other clinics? i really hope that i do not need to opt for the custom lasik as it is much more expensive

on a side note, anyone know if Advance Vision and Centre for Sight offer custom lasik as well and how much does it cost?

yup... I heard half day also can. Depend on doc availability and doc suggestion. But they would suggest you to go in the evening so after surgery, u can go back to sleep until tomoro ...

Just go home and rest? But i thought it will be very painful to open your eyes after the lasek?

After 6 months from custom all laser lasik from optimax, went to check up yesterday~~ Everything is good and i was told that i still have a thick cornea during the check up~~ there is no more short-sightedness but abt 25 power for astigmatism in my left eye~~
Before lasik, right eye power 650 and left eye power 725 and 50 astigmatism

It cost about rm7.5k for both eyes :S

hello all, I am a medically trained doctor who's had LASIK done by Dr Chew at chew eye specialist in Ipoh - personally I would not go for optimax or the big chains because they don't really care about you - you are just a number to them and even if you are high risk they will do without telling you just to get the comission.

My experience with Dr Chew was very good at Ipoh - he was very professional and has a technology which cuts the flap without a blade! I believe even optimax and vista doesn't even have that technology!!

If you google him at HDLASIK chew eye, he is very worth it!! I now have perfect vision, no problems whatsoever. And he is very honest. My sister came along with me and wanted to do LASIK, but he advised against it as her cornea was thin and higher risk of complications, whereas optimax just asked my sister to do it without even telling her about it!!!

I would highly recommend Dr Chew!!!
