Yes, Dr. Theng's clinic is located at Mount Alvernia Hospital in Sg. I just had lasik assessment with him on last Saturday. He assessed my case and told me confidently that my case is not challenging for him. I went together with a friend of high astig who was previously rejected by another doctor. Dr. Theng accepted his case but required him to do corneal collagen cross-linking treatment. My friend was a bit skeptical too but when Dr. Theng told him that his record so far has 100% success rate so my friend was convinced.

The total cost for my case is about $4300 including all pre and post check up and medication. Definitely more expensive than Malaysia but given him a reputable surgeon in Singapore I think this price is justifiable. Anyway, he is fully booked for this year. I have to wait until next January to perform the surgery.

I feel that the lasik assessment from this clinic is more professional than Optimax. Reason because they have specialist to handle different equipment and to collect different data and then doctor will perform final checkup and make the assessment. Whereas Optimax has one optometrist did everything and told me the result. Maybe that is just sale strategy but it definitely gives me more confidence. Just my own experience though.

hi poor_engineer

Thank you for sharing your experience .

This is how a professional doctor and lasik centre operate compare to ......

Totally agreed with your . the Doctor should do the final assessment to makesure we are suitable candidate for the lasik surgery.

for my case , now their doctors try to twist the fact that poor result is due to my pre existing problem and blame my eye problem.
After went thru all the hassle , deep inside my heart , I know I am not a suitable candidate .The lasik centre did not do a proper assessment. And further more they hide the truth condition of my eye for so long.

the checkup in the hosp is not comprehensive. she just look into my eyes using that device for 2 test I think. and they also check for blood pressure!!! strange.

i can't remember the doc's name. it's in the 3rd floor same floor as their advanced lasek centre.

the cost is RM95 only, that because I also check my eyes power to make new glasses. if not the cost would be RM65 only.

for registration, will cost another RM15.

hi badai

Thanks for sharing.

Doctor or optometrist do the assessment?

Do you call up optimax and ask them why they never detect you have early cataract? Are you able to recover your deposit that you paid to optimax RM500?

suggest u call to follow up.

Since you have officially informed them about the cancellation , they should know what to do.
Based on 2nd diagnosis which optimax optometrist overlooked , can you demand a full refund?

when I first called on Monday they did asked if I got any report. I say no report the doctor just told me verbally.

They just accept my cancellation without any report or anything. I guess they don't really strict on cancellation. If they make it hard, nobody want to go there.

Hi badai

I will said that bc they failed to detect you have early cataract.
they knew wrong diagnosis is very serious...

I have a few good corneal specialists that are good at handling post lasik case, one in penang, one in UK now, one in government hospital (retiring soon).

If you need to see one urgently in klang valley, i can ask my friend to arrange a referral letter for u to see the senior corneal specialist in private medical center on weekends only.
*
Hi , Jialat

One of the member here pm me that KPJ - Centre for sight also offer relex smile surgery. Do you have any contact which good in treatment post lasik patient ?
Is it true that it is advisable to seek a consultation from a surgeon who got experience in relex smile surgery? I mean for post op - relex smile patient .

What is your opinion?

thanks

Both my aunt and her husband went to Vista. Her case was successful, but as for his, it wasn't. In fact I see him squinting his eyes whenever he needs to read something. According to aunt's husband, even his colleague tried Vista due to friend's recommendation and both cases unluckily were unsuccessful. So...beware. Of course in the fine print of any Lasik centres, they will always say there is no absolute guarantee the procedure will work....but hearing about more than 1 unsuccessful case is bad enough for one single centre.

hi

yeeck

Do you mind to share how is your uncle's eye now ? he consult any other doctor for 2nd opinion ?

thanks

hi, KPJ centre for sight has a corneal specialist, Dr Choong yean yaw. He is always busy and doesn't really spend much time for patient. You can wait for more than half an hour to see him for 2-3 min only. U can seek his opinion on your post relex corneal problem.

The doctor who is doing relex smile for KPJ in KL was previously the same doctor from optimax.
*
Hi Jialat

Thank you for your feedback.

Yes , someone suggested him to me also.

Still looking for option.

You are rite . I read thru her doctor profile. she is ex- optimax dr.

when the time is rite. I will plan it .

thank you very much

hi Scarfe

I am quite agreed with Ozak & Jialat.

if any complication happens after surgery , will have a difficult time to look for good doctor and willing to follow up/rectify.

Take my case as example. The doctors that I met (after i X the surgeon ) , they try many ways to tell me that poor vision is due to my eye problem rather than trying to help me to restore my vision.

this is my experience

I just recently got my $$ bonus and going to finally do LASIK.

just have a question, why is the doctor I choose important?
Arent the procedures standardized and following the same treatment method?

also, what is the voucher and recommendation letter about? how can i get one?
*
Hi
A good doctor will analyse your pre op eye test and advice your accordingly and honestly . Procedure is std but every patient with different power. They need to key data and set visual target into computerised lasik machine .femto lasik does not require manual doctor skill but relex smile procedure involved doctor manual skill.

My case is a good example . So unlucky recommended to a dishonest and no ethic surgeon end up with poor vision ...etc. No doctor dare to rectify my eye now.

CHOOSE YOUR SURGEON WISELY

Above is my experience

Below is from their optometrist. Just for your ref

What steps should i follow?

My Initial thought was to go Optimax and they will settle everythin easy peasy. icon_question.gif

hi dingz

I am just sharing my true story.

this is eye surgery , cannot take it easy. Must do homework.

1)Actually you can refer to post by one member here : poor_engineer - a lot of useful information for you to refer

2)Or you would like to check post by badai - pass for eye examination test which done by a optometrist except for dry eye test. But went for 2nd opinion , he's diagnosis is early cataract . so he has to cancel the surgery.

3) Maybe you can consider do the comprehensive eye test 1st and consult a doctor . then make your own judgement.
try to get 2nd opinion if you have doubt.

Hi there,

Just want to get some opinion from you all since some of you know about this stuff quite well. Yesterday my girlfriend went to optimax klang branch to do her eye examination for laser. The test result is okay according to them except that her dry eye test is only 3. Doctor request her to do ASA because the outcome for this will be better for dry eye patients.

So is it okay to go for ASA and will it have any other side effect? Since most of the post i read from here are doing custom femto and not much people discussing about ASA or it is in other terms which i am not familiar with..
*
I suggest you or your gf search for real video how they actually do the ASA treatment. Post op is very uncomfortable (comment from a doctor) . Slow recovery on vision.

Some member rejected this treatment due to scary process.few members here do post here after treatment. Try search...

I don't trust optimax klang, the doctor n Chinese optometrist at all not even a single word now after what I have went thru and had poor result after surgery n not able to rectify at this moment.

Don't rush for surgery .

My suggestion is get 2nd opinion .

hi really confuse,

thanks for the info, may i know which surgeon did the surgery for you? ya.. i already told her to postpone it and seek for more opinion from other clinic. By the way, which op did you choose? femto, relex or asa?
hi steven,

thank you very much for the info.. which operation did you do and who is your doctor? Just wanna get more feed back from this branch.. since got people complaining about this branch and the side effect. What can i say, better be safe than sorry hehe

Hi Miner88

I think u should be able to guess who is my surgeon. My post op vision is poorer than pre op vision already prove how GOOD is the doctor ?
ASA required skill.

All my thread are true experience with this female surgeon 👎

Choice is yours.

Hi Steven,

Thank you,.. i didnt read those post so far back.. haha.. now it really help her to gather some courage to do this op..

Hi Really Confuse,

Noted, will ask for more opinion about this surgery before proceed and hope your eyes will get better soon. smile.gif
*
Hi Miner88

Thanks.

It is already more than six months from the initial surgery. i don't think it will improve much. sad.gif

BTW , Just FYI

1)You are entitled to get a copy of the pre op comprehensive eye examination report.
2) Ask for all question / information that you suppose to know b4 surgery.

i will suggest you / your gf get 2nd opinion by a doctor not optometrist.
you refer to post by "badai" - done eye test by optometrist n paid for deposit . all passed according to optometrist except dry eye test and optometrist told him(some sort of guarantee) dry eye not a issue for him. After badai get 2nd opinion from a doctor , then he confirmed w early cataract so he has to cancel the surgery.

Choose your surgeon wisely!!

Good Luck to your GF.

Hi guys, need your opinion for my case

Two weeks ago, i went to do lasik surgery. The method i chose is customized femto lasik. Unfortunately, my surgery undergo some issue, the surgeon told me that i had incomplete flap, and so she decided to halt the operation and postpone my surgery (2-3months later until it fully recovered).

After google around, i think this is the issue im facing
http://eyewiki.aao.org/Incomplete_Flap_During_LASIK

Im having 600+ myopia for both side of my eyes  sweat.gif Should i give it a 2nd try or just give up? Worrying what will happen for cutting my eye twice.. From the conversation with the surgeon, she actually mentioned that there's no 100% guarantee the same shit won't happen again, hope to get some replies from those who faced the same issue b4, i wish im not alone...icon_question.gif
