bladeless procedure cost much more than old technology (which cost ard 6k for 2 eyes nowadays). she can wear contact lens.
its not their eye, they are trained to close deal and hit target. Most of us have dry eyes even non contact lens user, they will ask u to put eyedrops for at least few months till you adapted to the dryness.
you got thick and round cornea, they would love to do lasik on u. lol
10 years ago no relex smile, thank god! otherwise many more will suffer.
*
hi Jialat

I like your comments which is true. thumbsup.gif

Adapt to dryness doesn't mean your dry eye issue is solve.

you are 40s, then its not a good idea to do lasik. if you fully correct your distance, then u will need reading glasses also. U wont be spec free. ur eyes are getting more dry soon!
monovision sacrifice 3D vision, night driving will be tougher.

ask your optometrist to write u a guarantee letter, or reserve the right to sue that optometrist. ask them to write in black and white that your eyes wont be dry after 2 months.
as usual, they keep increasing the price.
no such thing as life time warranty, they will blame on your eyes when any problem arises.
*
Hi Jialat

Understand your statement .

I just post this question to badai , see whether he is aware about this term from optimax or not.

B]no such thing as life time warranty, they will blame on your eyes when any problem arises.
[/B]

this is actually the basis they put thru to me for my poor refractive surgery result.

how do I know my power?

Visual acuity Glasses Rx:
R: -3.50/-0.75X1742
L: -2.00/-1.50X54

Refraction Manifest Rx
R: -3.00/-0.50X70
L: -2.50/-1.00X150

I don't know about full correction, but it's not monovision. it will fix my short sightedness and astigmatism, but I still need reading glasses
*
Badai

Look for Cycloplegic refraction power. this is more accurate.

your power not very high.

if your purpose is to be spec free only and fix your short sightedness and astig . then this surgery will not suit your purpose. because if you have presbyopia later , then u will need to wear glasses again.

just my opinion

based on your power , age , dry eye result , not worth to take this risk...

Hi badai

what is your main purpose to go for lasik?

based on all your comments , wonder the optometrist provide you a proper consultation or not?

you are wearing multi focal lenses , and optometrist didn't explain to u about full correction or monovision... that's weird

Actually who is the optometrist and what explanation has given to you? side effect ?

I suggest you do some homework and study more about this lasik surgery before you decide. if not you will regret..

just my 2 cents

As jialat put it : this is how the optometrist at lasik centre has been trained

40 is the time you would want to protect your eyes from getting disease. 50 is when you cant escape if u dont start taking care at 40!
Yes they earn from your annual eye check. Then when u want to claim warranty if your power comes back, u better make sure your cornea is still thick enough, otherwise they cant do much about it. They are waiting for you to develop eye disease and they can earn from treatment and surgery.
*
Hi Jialat

Just wanna to find out from you ,

1) if we do lasik at lasik centre A can we go other lasik centre B for annual check up? Will they accept?

2) compare femto and relex smile , which treatment remove more cornea tissue per dioptre? And idea?

thanks

See how some of the optometrist work in lasik centre operate ?

Tell us who is the another irresponsible n no ethic optometrist told you this? what is her name . if patient complaint about her ,then only she will know what will happen to her optometrist license....

hi badai,

just to share.. i have the same problem with u.. did eye examination at optimax ttdi, dry eye test is 3 seconds for both eyes.. and have a flat cornea.. but the optometrist said that i'm suitable for all type of lasik.. but i have doubt since the min requirement is 10 secs.. so decided to get a second opinion at another place.. the result still same suitable to do lasik.. but i'm still not satisfied with both results.. start googling more and have decided that better to not waste money.. dun wan to suffer from dry eyes and permanent halos/glares at night..
*
By reading this post by bzz07 . my conclusion is optometrist at klang branch did a lousy job and not honest to the patient.

The klang optometrist told me I passed the pre op eye comprehensive test .she never inform my dry eye test is below minimum requirement, never explain about the side effect and don't even provide a eye test report. confirmed it is her fault for lie to me . Now I suffering dry eye . Can sue her ? vmad.gif

QUOTE(Akimo @ Nov 16 2016, 03:21 PM)
i m post patient for femto lasik, since i people here was discuss about dry eye issue, heres i going to  share mine.

i do my lasik on middle of January 2016, my condition was fulfil all the required for the lasik, except the dry eye issue which they mentioned to me but not emphasis, my tears dry was about 3-4 sec just like you all.

After  done my lasik, my vision recover was great, I can even play computer game on the next morning. Dry issue on recover period (1months) wasn’t really bother to me since I have my eyes drop daily.

On the 2nd month, post check-up result satisfied, only right eye with +25 astig, I highlighted my dry eye , optometrist told me is normal issue, just wait after month will be ok.

On the 3month, post check-up result still remaining satisfied, only right eye with +25 astig, I highlighted my dry eye issue (Redness), optometrist told me is normal issue. Have to apply more eye drop every2 hours.

On the 6th  month (Discharging month), post check-up result still remaining satisfied, I highlighted my dry eye issue, I told them my eye is RED, I did exactly what you all told me to do so. Still the problem exists. They referring me to the doctor, and the doctor recommend another stronger eye drop (Ultra Systane -  if I spell correctly). I apply every 1-2 hours, eye getting better, however, it did not last long.

Today is the 10th month after my lasik, The problem for what I facing now, I  wake up every morning with RED EYE , both eye consist on discharge (eye shits) , doctor told me this is  due to dryness. The function of the tears is help to discharge bacteria, dust on eye to the nose. After I apply for eye drop, the redness slowly dilute, but redness still persists after 1-2 hours.

Most of the time I have to rely on the eye drop. Whenever I go even when I staying in the house.

So my advice if you guys those having dry eye issue, PLEASE make your Choice wisely, else you all facing the problem just like me. As what Jialat Say , dry eye will get worse after lasik which I didn’t pay much attention on this.  And this is what I facing all the time……
*
Hi Akimo

are u overcorrected on astig , bc you wrote here +25 astig?

when your eye get dry , do you experience blur vision or seeing shadow ? any reduction in vision?

thanks

of course, in fact the other lasik centre doctors will try their best to help solve your problem to prove they are better. Its always good to get second and third opinions before going for another surgery.
optimax will sacrifice that particular optometrist if kena complain, and train another to do same job. Once you signed that consent form, it means you have understood and willing to take all the necessary risk for lasik. They are well protected and patients can only blame themselves for not checking thoroughly. Commercial lasik centres are like that.
femto is still the most reliable one if you really want to do it.
Its good to get annual eye check, keep away from ocular disease. Its well worth.
Nowadays all lasik centres want to sapu all cases, do first then belakang baru kira. If they dont do, you ended up do it in another lasik centre, they rugi.
*
Hi Jialat . what do you mean by "they are well protected " ?

BTW , I am still waiting for doctor that u mentioned earlier that he is coming back to Malaysia.

Hi Really Confuse,

If cost is not your consideration, Dr. Jerry Tan might be your choice. He is one of the top ophthalmologist in Singapore who well known among the middle-upper class. I read several reviews about him that even doctors also look for him for lasik treatment.

hi poor_engineer

thank you for your kindness.

Cost is one of my main consideration factor. it is really no easy for me to get 10k for this refractive surgery . Very unlucky chose a unethical surgeon and optometrist.

Yes . I heard of this doctor Jerry. thumbsup.gif

If you scroll back this thread , there is a post op lasik patient-angie--- suffered years then finally met Dr.Jerry . Then this patient finally knows the truth condition of his/her eye. Now he/she able to let go the pain and carry on in life.

Beside Dr.Jerry , do you have any other recommendation?

good idea, i'll make appointment there for second opinion.

=============================================

the cost is higher than vista/optimax for eyes checkup. RM250.

maybe the lasik cost itself is higher too. i'll ask if I go there this saturday.
*
Hi badai

Did u meet any optimax doctor for consultation during eye test?then u can compare their opinion.

I remember jialat has a cornea specialist doctor friend from lasik centre but now work in a private hospital.

consent form that u have signed before surgery is meant to protect them stating that you are taking own risk for the surgery.
Dont go to another lasik centre for 2nd opinion.
Thats very true!
Dont go there, with the same consultation fee, u can go to many other good private medical centres.
He is not back until January 2017.
Will keep you guys posted once he is back.

Hi Jialat

Western country lawyer comment "signed consent letter" doesn't means grant surgeon a license to make mistake.

Above statement from a medical negligence case in western country.

Jialat
I thought u have another doctor friend at private hospital now.

If you need to see one urgently in klang valley, i can ask my friend to arrange a referral letter for u to see the senior corneal specialist in private medical center on weekends only.
