i paid deposit to book the slot in july with Advance Vision, the actual slot for my lasik is in early september. today is the third weeks post surgery.
the clinic only perform surgery every friday and the whole August is fully booked. mainly i think is due to the lower price compare with other specialist. i paid 400 as deposit and the rest paid by credit card instalment plan for one year, about 211 per month. total i am paying about 2900.
just sharing my experience:
1) check up - 2 parts required. 1st part, optician will check on your eyes condition. if cornea is too thin, you cannot do lasik. i passed the first check up, second part is to see the doctor for final check up. the doctor will determine if you are suitable for the surgery. i waited for few hours on a sunday, cos i dont want to go twice. the queue is very long as there were lot of ppl, be prepared to wait. doctor said i am suitable to do. paid deposit and wait for my actual surgery.
2) one day before surgery - went back for final checkup. the optician will check the eyes condition again. you are not allowed to wear contact lens for a certain period before the surgery. i was wearing glasses so no problem.
3) actual day - waiting time is very long as well. take your meal before going as i waited from 12.30pm and left around 5pm, without lunch...
the nurse put few eye drops in my eyes to numb it. the assistant to explain to me what is going to be done, what to take note during surgery, eg, dont move your eyes, where to look, what you will smell etc.
4) surgery - went into the operation theater and asked to lie on the bed under the machine. once lie down the doctor will start the procedure, everything happened very fast without you have time to think. the doctor told what is he doing while he is doing. he will clean your eyes, put suction, create flap, laser, replace the flap, clean your eyes, and done. each eyes less than five minutes. no pain and no discomfort, just that i know they are doing something to your eyes, and cant feel anything. i then can walk out the room myself. doctor checked my eyes again before i left
5) post surgery - before leaving, the vision is blurry but i can walk on my own. the vision was quite clear the night itself. went home, took dinner and the painkiller and off to bed. must take the painkiller i think. i did not experience any pain or teary eyes post surgery until today.
6) recovery - the next day morning my vision is clear, went back to the clinic for first check up. done and left in one hour.
the recovery is painless, just that not used to the vision and still getting used with it. the eyes still feeling weird, just keep on putting eye drop according to the instruction. went back for second check up the next week.
i shower using goggle for past three weeks as the water cant get into eyes. this is to avoid infection to the cut when creating flap in your eyes. this is the most annoying part as quite difficult to shower with a goggle and need to be careful when doing anything with water. not to forget to sleep with eye masks for first five days. the adhesive tape is so sticky on your face..
it has been three weeks from my surgery and my vision is clear. left eye i can say 95 percent clear, right eye is perfectly clear. i dont think left eye will become as clear as right eye as it has been three weeks post surgery. as long as i am able to do my daily job without difficulty, driving without the need of specs. i am fine with it.
i did not seek second opinion before surgery and this is the only clinic that i went. did check with few friends who did lasik in optimax and vista, the technology they used is without creating flap. they are able to shower the next day and no need to wear mask when sleeping. but the price they paid is triple what i paid.
consider myself lucky as i did not experience anything bad. i have floaters in my eyes just to add on. all the above are my own experience.
Very informative and thorough report, thanks for sharing. Your eyes are very well, hopefully the left vision will improve also after some time.
