These are the tests will be carried out by Optimax during the annual check up

- Refraction (Eye Power)
- Intraocular Pressure (Eye Pressure)
- Pentacam (Cornea shape)
- Slit Lamp examination to check for any dry eyes/red eyes
- Fundus examination (Check the back of the eye after dilating eyedrops are instilled)

Yes. Dilating your eyes means checking your lens as well as retina.

Yes, you can request for the report with no charges. But we don't usually give out the report unless the patient request for it.

This is our standard procedure in Penang but it should be the same for all Optimax in Malaysia.

Both orbscan and pentacam are basically doing the same thing, both are able to check the shape of the cornea and thickness of the cornea. However, pentacam have an extra function which is known as BELIN/AMBROSIO Enhanced Ectasia. This scan here is able to scan the structure of cornea to rule out any post LASIK complication.

For our practice here in Penang, if patient requests to see doctor during their follow-up check-ups or annual check-ups, we will let them see the doctor. However, this might not apply to other Optimax branches.

I just went to Vista. They do not offer as much options as optimax and they don't offer free lifetime eyecheck.
Was offered RM 5988 for ilasik so it's not any cheaper than optimax

Hi all
Have checked with doctor at Ara Damansara Medical Center and am suitable for lasik
-age 39 but the concern is I might need "Lou Fah" glasses after a few years because of my age.

So besides
1. Monovision which I'm not very keen on.
2. Doctor actually suggested laser cataract surgery, implant which can have the best of both worlds.  See near and far.

Any opinions or thoughts?

Glad to hear that you are satisfied! I did have my assessment done earlier, was been told I am a 'suitable' candidate but I'm still struggling to make a decision due to the risks etc

Btw, I've read somewhere in this forum earlier the dry eyes has to be min 10 sec. There's this tear film reading in my assessment with I searched online is related to dry eye. The tear film reading shows 0.1 instead of seconds, anyone could tell me what does 0.1 mean? Tq!

She did relex smile and vision was poor, i think she went into depression and couldnt accept the vision is worse than before surgery.

Relex Smile is a bit risky. Better going to Optimax. Lasik can go to normal hospital.
