ronnie, time to boost up this thread like what you did for ocbc  brows.gif

personally request for page one to be updated with more details like:
places where we thought is 10% but not.

i've read through all the pages in this V.  shocking.gif
and here are my summary (please correct me if wrong), maybe can update 1st page.

- the 10 swiping per month is based on posting date by vendor, not transaction date
- AEON Supermarket doesn't fall into Groceries or Departmental Store
- no bill payment on HLB portal
- pay maxis via easy pay, maxis kiosk (kl sentral/gardens), reported can pay with payonline.com as well
- maxis fiber via maxis broadband portal, reported can pay with payonline.com as well
- TM no cashback
- UNIFI no cashback
- TNB no sucessful cashback yet???

if can't make online payment through portal, can we register our WISE card into Maybank2u.com and make payment from there?

You can actually achieve >10% net by spending less than RM1000 and get RM100 cash back.
This is because HLB uses round up to the nearest RM, and breakdown per category chosen
Eg.
Mobile Bill : RM205 (gets RM21 cash back)
Petrol Bill : RM505 (gets RM51  cash back)
Grocery Bill : RM275 (gets RM28 cash back)
Total Spend : RM985, Cash Back received : RM100
Nett Cashback = 10.15%

Sorry for the late response. I reexamined my expenses based on some pointers posted by aeiou228, then came back for your post. You have posted very useful info too, which I need some time to grasp & ascertain.

From my previous transactions & based on your example, I'm confident that I can control my mobile & grocery bills to spend less than RM1k but achieve 10% CB. However, the petrol bill is a bit difficult to deal with. Happened to me more than once, the self service card terminal/petrol pump is out of service. So, no choice but to swipe card at the counter. Really messed up my minimum 10 swipes doh.gif

I've learned something new from you, thanks! From now on, have to keep track on the amount that I swipe to exploit & maximise "profit".

Wise spending! icon_rolleyes.gif

Yes, getting >10% effective return is very possible. I achieved 10.09% in Sept; 10.05% in Oct (projected), aiming for 10.15% in Nov. tongue.gif
All other months I got between 9.91% to 10.00% effective returns.
But, you got to know what, when, how much you are using this card to max out the benefits.
As pointed out by ronnie, 10.15% would be the highest effective return.

In the US, there is a thing called Extreme Couponing, over here we have Extreme CashBack ... biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

I don't think I can ever manage to achieve > 10% as it requires dedicated efforts to monitor the spending details. Very pening kepala for me. Just last weekend, I pening pening paid my TNB bill with my CASA instead of MBB Amex. Rugi 7% doh.gif

I noticed from my transactions that the easiest way to achieve 10% CB is to make sure that my expenses do not exceed RM1K per month. Not possible to hit exactly RM1k & gain 10%, unless the swipes are RM100 x 10.

Next time must have an eye on detail & implement the strategy to exceed 10% CB flex.gif

tbheng, ronnie, aeiou228 Was wondering, if it is possible to share how you guys keep track on your spending...coz I'm pretty sure that you guys possess more than 1 CC. May I learn how you guys set up record keeping and filing systems? If it's not convenient to post here publicly, can just give rough examples or tips? I can figure out the rest myself.

Simplest way is get a small exercise book, allocate few pages for each and every credit card and start recording down each and every swipe on the relevant page. . This way i wont miss paying the statement on due date becos one look at the book, i know which statement has gone missing and did not arrive at my mailbox. Also i can plan when to pay the bills.

For Wise card, sure you would use on the 10% category. Everytime you go swipe for grocery and dining, or petrol, write down. When you are reaching the 7 0r 8 swipes, add up the total say RM655 then you know the next few swipes you must not exceed RM350, plus minus abit nevermind la.

SAme for your MBB AMex, once the weekend spend totalled up RM1000, you know u got CB RM50 max. already.

i do that for 14 cards that are active, helps to keep track of our expenses, esp my kids' supp cards. at the same time can check the bank pays you corrcetly or not, be it 5% or 1% CB, and you can be sure every bill in the statement is actually our spend and not some error charging.

Infact i have never found extra charge in my statement, i mean thoses that are not swiped by us. Only find is one or 2 swipes from grocery shop that were not billed at all, even few months later, may be the teller lost my swipe slips or what......and so they didnt submit, i got FOC

Ya, I used Excel too. I record based on cc slips and confirm from internet banking transaction history.
Almost all my frequent retail merchant swipes will get posted between 0 - 3 days.
The key is to know your total usage per cc for the month.
I don't swipe this card after 28th of month to avoid early/late posting that affecting CB calculation. tongue.gif
