You don't count that way... each category you add the total x 10% and round-up to nearest RM1.

Mobile transaction : RM29.90 --> Rebate : RM3.00
Petrol transaction : RM208.73 --> Rebate : RM21.00
Grocery transaction : RM393.82 ---> Rebate : RM39.00

The highlighted transactions = to those labelled on your Paper Statement ?
*
just to double confirm 393.82 = 39 or 40?

RM393.82 x 10% = RM39.38
Rounding to nearest RM1 = RM39

If rebate is RM39.50, then you get RM40  drool.gif
*
based on this info, the most minimum amount to spend in order to get rm100 cash rebate is rm750.

1) rm55 x 10 times = rm550 = rm60 cash back (rm6 x 10 times)
2) rm5 x 40 times = rm200 = rm40 cash back (rm1 x 40 times)

total = rm750 = rm100 cash back

super kiasu counting! thumbup.gif rclxms.gif

extra work but save rm250 monthly (rm750 instead of rm1000). sweat.gif

isn't it min need to spend 50 to get the rebate
*
once you attain to the minimum rm50 x 10 times, then the rest you can go as low as you can.
which is why...
1) rm55 x 10 times = rm550 = rm60 cash back (rm6 x 10 times)
2) rm5 x 40 times = rm200 = rm40 cash back (rm1 x 40 times)

QUOTE(tbheng @ Mar 4 2014, 02:55 PM)
I did a check on my historical records. I believe the CB is round up at category level and not per transaction basis.
Based on the above examples:
Category 1 : total spend = RM550, CB = RM55
Category 2 : total spend = RM200, CB = RM20

Based on my observation, the highest effective CB is 10.15%, where spend RM985 to get max CB of RM100.
e.g. Category 1 : total spend = RM325, CB = RM33
      Category 2 : total spend = RM325, CB = RM33
      Category 3 : total spend = RM335, CB = RM34
=> Total spend = RM985, CB = RM100, effective 10.15%.
I tried that in Jan (just for fun lah), spent RM985.10 and max out CB at RM100.  tongue.gif

i see... yes, now i notice clearly that it's based on total in category level and not per transaction basis. icon_rolleyes.gif
so the minimum is rm985 for rm100 cb. cry.gif

Could it be your Taobao purchase is in RMB and after conversion should be around RM80 instead of ~RM149???
*
i think most likely that's the reason! rclxms.gif thumbup.gif

Mean it fulfill the requirement to get rebate simply by split it rm50 x 10 times? Does it mean any transaction will do as long you have RM50 x 10 times charged regarding it's pay to same merchant or not?
*
yes

Crazy calculations all around. Honestly speaking, I really wonder why have to purposely go and buy things that you don't need for the 10% CB. No need factor in petrol and time?

Theres no need to be obsess with the numbers game. Just take it as someone gave you extra RM1150 to buy more groceries each year.

Unless you actually spent 3-4k each month on credit card, otherwise just a waste of time getting few cards to maximize the CB because after deduct GST, not much gain.
*
maybe he just buy extra when he goes shopping. so no additional petrol and time wasted. nod.gif
