Hello folks! biggrin.gif

Not sure if this is the right place to ask about this but,

Does anyone know where I can find a good beef supplier aside from Tesco/Giant etc? (preferably something like wet market one)

Tesco/Giant etc only sells daging pejal (not so yummy) / expensive sirloin steak pieces..

Am looking for stuffs such as beef chuck etc.

Thanks in advance! and have a nice day biggrin.gif notworthy.gif

Those places may have beef chuck. Talk to the people behind the counter or the manager in charge of the meat section. They may not always put it in front of the counter

I notice that when it comes to meat/fish purchases, you have to speak to them and try to negotiate. If the quantity is in bulk, they may be willing to negotiate. Also check out when does the supply come. Then time it to get it then.

Also, if you buy the meat/fish uncut, it's a different price as well.

Smaller supermarkets may be willing to help you to reserve the meat you want compared to the big ones.

Jusco has better choice of what u can get than Tesco/Giant

But wet market still cheapest and you can get them fresh.

try to go malay pasal malam, look for 'daging batang pinang'..around RM24 to RM26 per kg..worth the price..easy to cook. Just stir fry. I usually buy 1.5 kilo for a week of supply

Hey there, thanks for the info and suggestions!
I did try asking those people behind the counter, but they'll always tell me they only have "daging kisar/ daging pejal" =(

Any smaller supermarkets you'd recommend for that?

There should be a floor supervisor or manager in charge of that section that would be able to advise you further. Don't chat with the workers. They may not know.

I'm in Sarawak so can't help you there. I do notice that workers in Sarawak are typically more friendly and helpful though. Ah well. smile.gif
