keep to the topic please

from what I saw on the XDA Forums, it seems that some HTC Ones have faulty camera module, a senior member of the xda forum commented that this may coincident with the HTC delays, which they say are due to difficulty sourcing parts... seems that not all camera modules that got shipped for the first batch is up to standard, hence some reporting amazing photos while some say the camera sucks....

i seriously hope its the problem above causing image quality differences, because the other theory will be HTC is using 2 sources for the One, one of them is good while the other sucks (like SGS3 with sony & samsung camera modules)

huh
but i dunno xda got problem or not
cause u see the first spoiler
it mention
more about HTC Auto Enhance from my One X post here

Now Jonathan's Image are perfect example of why you need HDR which he did not use, the sky is over cast if you place the exposure in the sky the ground willl be dark and if you place it on the ground like he did the sky will washout

i have no doubt the results would have been much better with HDR or Backlight used

here is an example of HDR use in an overcast scene from my One X, like all reviewers stated (except phone and gsm arena) since the One X HTC has the best HDR on a phone
is HTC one x not htc one > <
*
what he means is,
Jonathan's image of the sky needs HDR to fully capture the sky's colour and the grass, cause the image Jonathan captured has the sky becoming white, meaning it's overexposed, which can be prevented if he used HDR
^ this is universally true for all consumer cameras due to the limited dynamic range

the last paragraph, he basically says one x's hdr is better than one's... but remember oneX has been around for a year, with numerous updates from HTC, so let's wait for the One to get one year's worth of updates before we start comparing.... also, the results aren't really that far off, not a problem IMO

and the HTC Auto Enhance, just go and read that post

definitely not "leagues ahead"... LOL
http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s4_...eview-913p5.php

Still, it's a difference that's very hard to detect without lab equipment, so for purposes practical the two are on par. What is not so hard to hear is the difference in volume levels - the HTC One is notably louder than the Samsung Galaxy S4 in both test scenarios.

the opening gap is a tiny line only (@anandtech) , don't make a big fuss out of it

if you want absolutely stellar build, wait for 2nd or 3rd batch

for those who are worries about build issues, you can check out this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2209277
and this post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.p...3&postcount=112

the first post teaches you how to check when the phone is manufactured

from what I see, phones after 30 march seems to have generally less problems... for Malaysia, I think we'll be getting phones manufactured in April, which I think will have the build issues stamped out...

Editted: added link, changed estimation date

Anyone managed to register their warranty online? I couldn't find any relevant link from http://www.htc.com/sea/support/

And 1 stupid question here, can I connect HTC One's USB cable to iPhone 5W power adapter to charge?
*
yes, but doing so may cause battery to deteriorate faster, it's always better to use the original charger

or, you can check the original charger if it supplies the same wattage as the iphone charger, no problem is it's the same or lower

@shinichi @benny
can you please check which batch your phones are from?

just go to Settings > Info > Device Identity and you'll see the Device Serial

this will give us an estimation of which batch we'll be getting when the One reaches, really appreciated if you can do that smile.gif

What does the serial show. I suppposed since so new probably is March batch

[attachmentid=3391367]

thank you!
it shows that your phone is made on 2 March 2013
people have been complaining about build quality for he early batches, and from what I see, batches made after 30 March seems to be generally fine...
do you have any build quality issues?

btw, we'll feel more heat as our ambient temperature is higher than those ang mohs wink.gif

These are quick snap shots taken using all phone default settings. I am a camera noob and I just know how to point and click only. You guys judge the photo shot quality
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

the photos are quite OK, very less noise in the computer photo, focused correctly on the center for the flower photos, and got the exposure right in the lawn photo as you were pointing it towards the subject nearer to you hence the blown out background (try using HDR/Backlight mode for these kind of situation)

and, i think we need better subject & weather to show how well this camera can do wink.gif

try using these tips to take better pictures

Thanks for your comments and tips from phonearena
All these tips from photoarena , seriously I am not interested to go through all those steps just to take some better shot ? I prefer the quick , lazy method - just point and click. As long as pics don't turn out blur, I am satisfied. Anyway my photo quality requirements not high unlike some users here
*
the lazy method: go to gallery>edit>auto enhance
3 steps and you'll get better photos (maybe), something 2 try when you're free wink.gif

I have been following xda thread of HTC ONE users, and so far I seldom see ppl reporting on heating issues.

i'm guessing the other partner is umobile
how long will they have the exclusivity? one month? 2 month?

and, why didn't htc go with maxis or celcom? IMO they are bigger companies and have bigger audience and better network

Reminder to all potential buyers. Be aware of poor build due to zero gap not being well constructed
There will still be some very minor gaps . If you are looking for the perfect unit with absolutely no gap, quite tough i would say . Maybe n hopefully the M'sian sets are improved versions. Infact bloggers said HTC should not even boast about this as most units found with at least minor gaps
These pics in this website is indeed bad n unacceptable

http://gsminsider.com/2013/04/01/htc-one-s...onger-zero-gap/
*
the "zero gap" actually refers to the back panel and the surrounding plastic strip, not the speaker panels or the phone as a whole... but i guess HTC didn't make it clear enough

but can add micro-sim 64gb ma.. removable battery also.. now my HOX batt like shit already.. after 1 yr usage. if u change phone every year then shouldnt be a problem smile.gif

very hard to decide now.. i wanna see the power of powervr544mp3.. it is clocked higher than ip5 means it gonna beat the shit out of adreno 320.. maybe will hold off until tegra 4 comes out only decide which to buy..

Btw, those who already have One, may i know how does blinkfeed works? Can it shows newsfeed rather than facebook, twitter feed? or combination of both? It would be sad if it only can show fb feed..
*
have a look at this
this is the latest graphic benchmark http://gfxbench.com/result.jsp?site=gl
at the top of chart are S4 and ipad4, scoring the same, theOne is at #3
however, please note that the One is running on 4.1.2 while S4 is 4.2.2
that means the one will get same scores of updated to 4.2.2, means they have same performance
and, the S4 shown here is running on S600 adreno 320, looking for powervr544mp3? please check the 2nd page

also, a lot of review sites are giving out mediocre photos of One Vs other phones,
this is because most of them are using earlier batches of One
the newer batches produces much better photo quality
and you will need to do some tweaking with the camera settings
please have a look at this page
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2169626
in the first post you can see many impressive photos, which debunks the claim that the One's camera is inferior
for more comparisons, you can check technobuffulo, anandtech
lazy to find links for you, but here's one http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/04/12/ht...so-be-the-best/
google is always one click away

I went to lowyat and tried the phone. The power button is really hard to press so I think waking your phone from table will be pain in the ass.

What a deal breaker.

seriously exynos octa score so lousy? becos theoritically it will be better than iphone 5. s4 score higher than htc one is becos high clock speed, not 4.2
*
the higher clock speed is CPU speed, gaming we need GPU, and that test is for GPU
GPU wise that's how they are performing, and it's affected by android version cuz S600 has newer drivers that needs 4.2 to work, which S4 has but One doesn't have
all these has been discussed on the xda forum, i am merely passing on the knowledge

and blinkfeed has maximun 5 homepage, including blinkfeed
source @anandtech

I don't see why you said is a joke
What he said is a fact . A point I think I said it 3 times here. Is worse than butterfly n if you used a back case quite difficult to press it down. And this is my fourth time saying this
And if he feel this is a dealbreaker it is his right/decision
*
@benny888 he is disregarding the camera, screen, speakers, aluminium body all because of a power button that is "hard to press / hard to wake phone when on the table", I find that funny hence I said it was a joke
and, in case you say I am misinterpreting his comment, he used the term "deal breaker"
anyways, I feel that this thread should be informative discussion and providing information, not expressing displeasure and spreading negativity. Though, it might be just myself thinking that way, I shouldn't hold others to the same standard

@Moonflown, I apologize if you feel offended by me calling your opinion a joke
