Seems like there are hardware defects with HTC One:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39835841

Not sure if this affects only a certain batch of HTC One?

I tell you , this TS is picking up issues for nothing - like looking for  a needle in a haystack. Most people will not even notice such stuffs. He is expecting a 100% perfect seam. Or like some guy say he is simply trolling
If I want to, I think I also can list out at least "10 defects" in any phone just to nitpick. Just pass me any phone, and I can list it out too these "10 defects"

Hey I'm not looking for trouble, I got my set today and only found out this on my unit too. So I'm checking if its common and should I even ask for a replacement.

it's very normal. as long as ur phone dont get sliced in half then there's absolutely nothing to worry about.

I'm a little sad cause I never do more research about the phone before commit to it today. and then I saw info about new batch manufactured in April no longer have this defects... I should have wait a little longer...

I dont know if other units on market now is having the same problem. if they are the same then I would not even bother to waste my time to ask for replacement.

My point is if I want to  ( or anybody can too ) - it is extremely easy to find faults ( manufacturing/design) in any product. Just be nitpick and strict in your examination and just ignore all basics of manufacturing limits

I dont have such problem with my previous phones. This is the first time I face this problem with a new phone hence I'm checking if this is normal for HTC One.

And I never read anything posted online saying about manufacturing defects for HTC One, as opposed to iphone 5 chipping problem which was posted online and because of this information it helped me to get a newer batch without this problem.

"I've had the HTC One since the 20th March. I had the small gap problem but was happy to live with it. Today I noticed glue actually coming out from the gap at the top, a long stringy piece. Now, cracks are starting to form on the white band round the side

The device is deteriorating alarmingly quickly. I'm taking it back to the store today to see about a replacement. I hope this is because its from a dodgy first batch and not a sign of overall build quality as it really is a great phone ."

Thanks for sharing...

I hope HTC dont disappoints me... This is the my first ever HTC phone, I love the great look which is different from previous HTC models.
The stereo loudspeakers churn out very good quality audio, and audio quality on my custom earphone is great too (a little bit better than iphone 5).

By the way, nano sim adapter works on my unit.

Anyone managed to register their warranty online? I couldn't find any relevant link from http://www.htc.com/sea/support/

And 1 stupid question here, can I connect HTC One's USB cable to iPhone 5W power adapter to charge?

yes, but doing so may cause battery to deteriorate faster, it's always better to use the original charger

or, you can check the original charger if it supplies the same wattage as the iphone charger, no problem is it's the same or lower

Thanks bro for suggestion.

From Apple's website, it only says 5W.
http://store.apple.com/my/product/MD812B/A...dapter?fnode=45

But on HTC's adapter it mentions nothing about 5W aside from the input and output voltage - not available on Apple's website...

And since this is my first time charging my new phone, to be safe I will use the original adapter and usb cable to charge... biggrin.gif just feel a bit sayang to to cut open the packing and use the adapter/cable...

So regarding online warranty registration, is this a must? Can I skip this?

@shinichi @benny
can you please check which batch your phones are from?

just go to Settings > Info > Device Identity and you'll see the Device Serial

this will give us an estimation of which batch we'll be getting when the One reaches, really appreciated if you can do that smile.gif

Mine starts with HT332W... March 2 set...

I went to check out some other display sets today... most of those have bigger gap than mine, but I do see 2-3 units with perfect alignment... hope the front speaker panels wont drop off in after prolonged usage...
