Hi bros, need your advises.
Driving a 7 years Iswara 1.5 manual, long version aka taxi version.
Stock tyre 175/70/R13, on Falken SN828 tyre.
Recently raining season, skidded twice on water accumulated area.
Would like to improve the tyre.

If improve the rim to 14', will it be better? What rim size and tyre is recommended?

if to change tyre only, which one is good?
From the limited choices, looks like only Michelin XM1 and Conti CC1 and Yokohama A.Drive are ok.

thank you very much on the input. biggrin.gif

There should be plenty of 14' Rims for Iswara. Always remember Never buy from the first shop that you visit.

Check out the Tyres shops at Sunway, etc or even where you normally service your Car. They may give you reasonable price as you are a regular customer but its always better to have a sense of the market price.

Good luck.

imho....stick to the 13" wheels and 175 width tires... wider tires are more prone to aquaplaning while skinner tires can cut through water easier...

perhaps get tires that are better performers in the wet... and perhaps drive more safely in the wet.

Thank you for the input!
Now what i am going to do is checking the 2nd hand rim price and tyre, if way too much over my budget, then i will change Yokohama A Drive and drive slowly on wet surface, then evaluate again.

this.

although on the same page, better aquaplaning performance/comfort tires are available for 14/15" compared to 13". however, if your engine performance are not tip top, you will suffer from poorer pickup and worsened FC especially in traffic jam conditions.

However for 13" size, the models are limited..

I would suggest to go for 14" and look for better tyre, at least got plenty of choice..if still dont have, can try 15"... Sure so manyyyyu choices

IF you're going for 14" for "safety", then I'd recommend you stick to the 13"s. There's not much difference in 'safety' going up by an inch. The breadth of the tires count - that's the contact surface.
Your skidding is more likely caused by worn tires than smaller rim size. And remember, going up an inch means having thinner tires, so the overall diameter is still the same. You would have changed nothing (except your bank balance)
My personal opinion: Change to 13-inch tires with better threads. I'd say something in the range of Conti CC's or Yoko C-Drives.

Wow... times have changes a lot. I'm getting old I guess sad.gif
The last set I got were Michelin Certis. NEVER regret those - the best set my 'ol Saga ever had (and still has). They were RM135/pc when I bought them in 2010. Maybe the thread starter can still get them? unsure.gif
