Currently using the RM48 3GB Wireless Broadband package. 1.5gb peak and 1.5gb off peak.

Everytime I go pay my bill, the guy will tempt me to change to SurfMore50 plan. He said now got promotion (he says this every month), if i convert from my current plan to SurfMore50, i dun nid to pay anything. hmm.gif wondering if I shud convert it. laugh.gif

I use my broadband plan mainly for tethering, and watching football. hmm.gif Never use it for calling/sms.

Any opinion guys?

my current plan has 3gb quota, but 1.5gb peak and 1.5gb off peak. For the off peak, usually i use it to watch Champions League. laugh.gif The SurfMore50 plan only 2gb quota, but no peak and off peak.

Decisions decisions. rclxub.gif

Bro this is Maxis fibre thread... U posted in wrong section
But I will help u anyway laugh.gif

If u can live with peak vs off peak and only 3GB is enough for your usage then stay with it. Why change??
If u need more quota than 3GB then that would be different but since it is not the case and I guess u adapted usage limited to 3GB there is no point to change to a lower 2GB quota

Can someone actually get the MAXIS agents here to actually liaison with us in regards to what is going on at the moment? I don't want this kind of thing to go on for the whole year itself.

Dahlah trying to stream twitch.tv and other sites are bad, but youtube as well?! Crazylah! vmad.gif

And for the Maxis fibre internet experience, I'm disappointed

I suspect the slowdown yesterday night is probably due to Maxis speed throttling during night peak hours, but comeon throttling to less than 1mb..... That is too much
And somemore, I come home from work and would like to enjoy the time from then until I sleep, it is an absolute disaster speed throttled during that time

I woke up about 7am and found internet speed restored. Made some speedtest and all results about 9+mb up, 10+mb down

Looks like this maxis is for people who works on syif... Works from 8pm - 6am...
Go back 7am & enjoy unlimited speed while other people go to work...
I dun understand why SKMM kenot do anything about this...
*
SKMM basically can't/won't do much because the internet is not cut off, just traffic shaping was "applied to torrents only to prevent the small percentage of heavy users from affecting the user experience of the rest of users". And remember, the speed provided to users are on a "best effort" basis only, not guaranteed speeds

In overseas, telcos only sniff out torrent packets and not affecting the overall download speed
But the experience we shared about last night was drastic. First the internet was disconnected and after reboot router speedtest showed less than 1mb down but 10mb up

I hope it is only a random event last night, in future won't happen anymore

My internet connection has suddenly disconnected twice today.

When I went to see the router, all the lights are working. After switch off and switch on again, it is working again.

It happened once about 28 Jan, 7.30pm and 29 Jan, 1.30am. Anyone facing th same issue?

Any expert here? Why all lights on the router working but no internet connection? Scary!
*
Yes I get this same issue yesterday at night about 8pm. But I didn't need to reboot router just suddenly it was working again but speed is noticeably slower
Kinda like some throttling applied but speedtest shows it's normal. Downloading from few sites speed is quite fast, about 900kbps so it's still OK. Youtube was also OK

QUOTE(aceedburn @ Jan 29 2015, 10:20 AM)
All of you are aware that every 48 hours the ip gets renewed and there is a couple of minutes downtime during the ip renewal process right? This could be what's happening to you.
*
IC. I didn't know about this
Will changing to a public IP fix this?

Hmm, not so sure but public ip is definitely the way to go if you're hosting a server, have cctv or want to do port forwarding.
*
Thanks bro I'll request

QUOTE(danieltay @ Jan 29 2015, 02:31 PM)
Nope this is not the issue, the internet is down twice within 6 hours apart.
*
This happening today??

QUOTE(danieltay @ Jan 29 2015, 02:35 PM)
Mind one I waited for about 5 minutes but nothing happened. I first thought it was my wifi issue. Then I used wired, still the same. And I proceed to reboot.

After so many years launching, Maxis FTTH is still not ready for big time. Yet they dared to advertise, looking for more victims!
*
Well true that Maxis has not been able to offer consistent services but at least they have a friendly break off clause without paying penalty. Unlike TM or other telco that have strict penalty for early termination

what clause no need penalty...??

Relocate to a new place out of Maxis fibre coverage. U need to show proof such as utility bill under your name, tenancy agreement etc

http://www.maxis.com.my/en/personal/intern...t:fiberinternet
What if I move homes within my contract period?

You will need to provide documented proof of your new house address (e.g. utility bill addressed to your new home). If we are able to offer the service in the new location (depending on whether your new location is within our coverage areas) we will re-locate the service for you for a fee of RM200.

Note that your contract will be restarted for another 24 months.

If the service is not available in your area, we will waive your penalty fees and if you are unable to provide proof of your new house address and you are still bound to the contract and you will incur a penalty fee for early termination in your final bill.

Where can I terminate the service?

You need to walk-in to any Maxis Centre. A penalty of RM500 is applicable should you terminate the service within the 24 months contract period.

If I terminate the service before the contract ends, do I need to return the devices?

We only require for you to return the Optical Network Terminal (ONT) to Maxis. Our installers will arrange to pick up the ONT from your home. Customers who fail to return the ONT will be charged RM500, in addition to the early termination penalty charges of RM500.

After testing again yesterday, the internet experience at night is stable and speed consistent quite high
Just websites load a bit slow perhaps due to some throttling or heavy load on Maxis side
But that's still acceptable for now

Can change. Look for router that support fibre broadband. Normally manufacturer will print at the box support unifi/maxis

Refer this thread for details:

This applied to unifi also.

For unifi case, u're not completey free from TM but will need to convert to streamyx in order to waive the penalty. If not u still need to pay penalty

QUOTE(aneip @ Jan 30 2015, 02:30 PM)
That's is different product. They might ask you to convert to streamyx but you can denied.
*
For Unifi relocation, the only way to waive the early termination penalty is to convert to Streamyx
Other than that gotta pay penalty. If u decline to convert to Streamyx then pay penalty lor

QUOTE(kkm @ Jan 30 2015, 03:51 PM)
And what would be the model/price of the router?
*
Router prices start from 100+ all the way up to 800+
Depends on what product u want
