@thang
It's not fixed IP but it's PUBLIC or PRIVATE IP. The IP will change even when on PUBLIC.

Is maxis also throttling youtube streaming? I can get max speed when downloading but youtube crawls below 3 Mbps. Where's my other 27Mbps? Like this I might cancel the contract early and go to lower speed unifi.

I have no problem with websurfing or downloading, day or night. I can get 28 - 29 Mbps down speed but when streaming 1080p youtube, have to let it buffer.

Can we use the 2 usb port on the Thomson router to connect external drive? I've tried attaching my thumb drive and external drive but it's not detected. Is there any settings that I need to enable first?

Thanks for the info but that means I need to format my 4TB hard disk and redo everything? No thank you. Haihz |

Logged in to the Thomson router yesterday to reboot it (need to do this everytime wifi gets wonky) and to my surprise, they push a firmware upgrade to it. New interface with green color. I don't know what does it improves (wifi still wonky now and then).

Guys ... what's your configuration if you use other router and only use Thomson for VoIP?
TM GPON > Thomson (for VoIP) > connect using LAN > Other router for Wireless or TM GPON > Other router with login capabilities to Maxis (Wifi) > connect using LAN to > Thomson WAN port for VoIP I'm thinking of adding Asus RT-AC68U into the mix This post has been edited by frozzbyte: Mar 26 2014, 11:05 AM |

I think those FUP throttling applies to certain places where there are lots of people use torrent. It seems I'm not affected on the throttling where I can get maximum download speed from torrent at any time. I see a lot of people around my area using Unifi instead of Maxis FTTH. But that's just my observation.

QUOTE(petlu28 @ Jan 5 2015, 09:22 AM) If your main activity is torrenting, then better off with unifi since maxis have a FUP (throttling) around 8 PM - 2 AM. I personally don't play games but some people said maxis have high latency. I can't comment much on this.For me, the reason for using Maxis was the value for money. Paying RM248/month for 30mbps is far better than 20mbps with HyppTV which I don't utilised. I have a VPN account so torrenting during the FUP hour is not a problem for me. Most important is that I get full speed. I don't use XBMC but I use popcorn time to get my fix of latest movie and tv series. This post has been edited by frozzbyte: Jan 5 2015, 11:57 AM |

QUOTE(petlu28 @ Jan 5 2015, 12:00 PM) I subscribe to our local BolehVPN. Actually VPN is not to replace torrent but to bypass the throttling by Maxis during the 8 PM - 2 AM time frame. The other thing you can try is subscribing to bitport.ioActually there's lots more function to VPN then just bypassing throttling. You can access sites like netflix or Hulu, which check your IP origin to determine if you are in the US or not. You can also access BBC sites which does not allow content outside of UK. I think they've made some setting changes at the backend because when I use VPN, it load perfectly without any spinning wheel or anything.
