Maxis & TM guys came to my house to install even though I've cancelled my appointment. Postponed to May.

So I took the opportunity to ask them the installation cost.

The Maxis guy told me it would be minimum RM450 while the TM guy who came an hour later quoted me RM700.

I live in a semi-d, going to put the modem upstairs in the upper living room by the window. And the green box is 10m from my house.

1) Is this correct?

2) Is it at least RM450?

3) is there any cheaper alternative?

4) Should I put the modem/router downstairs instead if it will save me $$$?

5) If the modem is downstairs, I will most probably have a weak signal upstairs where I do my work at the desk most of the day.

I am currently using RM88 4mb Streamyx. Satisfied user.
The Maxis Home that I subscribed to is RM118/10mb.

I read here that the wifi signal is weak.
Since my house is pretty big with many corners, I reckon I would need more than 1 home plug/repeater in order to reach up stairs and all the rooms.

Now with my streamyx modem is at the desk in the upper living room, I can only get 1 bar in the living room downstairs where the tv is, where you suggest me to put the router.
So if I put the Maxis router there, I would get 1 bar at my desk upstairs.
I spend most of my time at the desk for work.

It will cost me another few hundred bucks. Add to the RM750 quotation, I would be spending over 1k.
Even without the repeaters and home plug, at RM750, I can't believe it's so expensive to install internet.
It was totally free with TM. sigh.

Downloads are slow, YouTube is slow, loading pictures is slow..
WTF is going on? Feel like switching to a different ISP if this shitty service continues....

The RM100 discount (from RM118 early bird promo in mid 2012) has been renamed from "RM100 Perpetual Discount" to "Access Fee Discount (RM100)" in my January bill.

Anyone here using Apple TV? I'm getting constant buffering on streaming radio and netflix. When I connect to my DiGi broadband, streams ok.

Did you read the small fine print? Anything saying they reserved the right to change the terms and conditions etc?

I also wish I can retain my Home Fibre OKU discount. Now 1 year already... next year dont know how.

Maxis is capping the speed to iTunes Radio and netflix. I've been having severe buffering from these 2 sites since last week. When my use DiGi broadband, no buffering at all. What the f*** is happening?

I use tunlr.net and also unlocator.com, but buffering like crazy on maxis. when I connect to digi broadband via hotspot and use tunlr and unlocator, no problem. really frustrating!

But it mention unlimited download in the website.

Anyone have the idea to maintain TM Fix line in the lowest cost while we shirt to MAxis fibre ?

bought the Asus RT-N12HP .. with the 9dBi antenna .
using it as a repeater to existing Maxis Technicolor router.

Now can download from the room up to 20MB .. still missing "10mb" of internet..

maybe i just downgrade to 20mb ..

Why not use the Asus router as main? Do you use the VOIP?

I replaced mine with the Asus RT-N14UHP. Almost same with N12HP but with 3x 9dBi and USB port. Like how they QoS work. Also try to set N mode only.

The only limitation of these Broadcom powered router (RT-N12/14 HP) is that it is still 2x2 only. If you really want even better speed when serving multiple devices, get one with 3x3 like Asus RT-N66U, but you might not get the range you wanted.

High ping and YouTube extremely slow today. Is it just me?

Hi guys, I am contemplated to switch from Unifi 5Mb to Maxis Fibre internet 10Mb. Price is about the same but speed is 2x (Maxis).

Am staying in 18th floor, condo SS7/19. Hope can use.

Maxis have a 4G LTE Mobile WiFi Modem (MiFi), price about RM78/month (Peak 7Gb).

- Any adivse guys? Should I go for fibre internet or MiFi?

- Do I need to cancel Unifi first before applying for Maxis fibre internet (Assuming I will not go for MiFi)?

Anyone using ipad to access the maxis ftth wifi?

I change to maxis Technicolor TG784n v3 router for about a month. The download speed and upload speed is great, 9Mbps(my package 10 Mbps).

But suddenly the download speed fluctuate to 3Mbps, but the upload speed still 9Mbps.

I suspect this is due to the firmware upgrade(10.2.8.3(CN)) done by them on the same day this happened.

Anyone using ipad to access maxis ftth wifi with Technicolor TG784n v3, firmware version 10.2.8.3(CN)?

Could you please let me know your speedtest results?

Note: wanted to test my ipad on the maxis ftth users, but not knowing anyone(any good hearted willing to let me test?). Anyone using maxis ftth staying in bdr sg.long, balakong and nearby area will do.
