QUOTE(gogetter83 @ Dec 22 2013, 05:05 AM) What's your wifi client? 5cm from the router....You're testing with wifi client side by side the router? How congested is your wifi environment? tested different wifi channel ... only full speed on LAN... Trying to avoid using own router ... i op for homeplug . but doesn't seem to be working well .. *sigh*.. but 30MB speed is awesome and I got no complain .. just that wirelessly .. just below par .. Funny thing is .. on wifi .. the upload speed can hit high 25Mbps ... download however cannot keep up .. but on LAN .. no issue on both .. QUOTE(gogetter83 @ Dec 22 2013, 12:50 PM) Sound like congestion to me. Likely your surrounding wifi environment is busy with many APs. If you use inSSIDer, how many wifi APs do you see? Also your wifi client? Is it N-150 or N-300? I have 4 signals here 1 is neighbour .. 3 .. is my own .. 1 from streamyx modem 1 from maxis fiber 1 from homeplug .. all running different channel and already monitoring with inssider ... tested all wifi signal ... if there is congestion , the upload speed would also be affected .. |

QUOTE(gogetter83 @ Dec 22 2013, 01:28 PM) Interesting... must be some non-wifi interference. I can get about 40Mbps over wifi (transfer from my NAS on wired to my PC on Wi-Fi over 10m in between a wall). So your homeplug has wifi as well? If yes, what's the speed you're getting from it? Homeplugs are Aztech.. Hl110ew & hl117eby the way, you still haven't say what wi-fi client you're using... The connection between plug is average... Probably lots of interference in the electrical wiring.. Getting average 8-9mb ... For maxis Thompson router , varies 10-17mb download Upload , usually at Max speed , 25-27mb I believe I just need to invest more for a better router |

QUOTE(gogetter83 @ Dec 23 2013, 10:38 AM) Maybe a better router can be a solution if you're ok to fork out the cash. the good ones in WiFi are the Asus ones, you should look into dual band solution (N56U, N66U, AC56U, AC66U) I am aware of dual band..but dual band got no coverage .. only good for streaming HD .. I need coverage and a bit of decent speed... I guess my plan now is to ... use repeaters around the house .. replace Maxis's thompson router...either just plug another router in there and disable wifi... or totally remove the router... homeplug is "useless" at my home now ...(*i tot i could run away with it ...) can't get the speed i want ... |

QUOTE(andrekua2 @ Dec 24 2013, 11:38 AM) Use the homeplug to get coverage. i agree with you .. homeplug = coverage ..I also use 3 routers. One is the lousy thompson to provide internet (with wifi off), then LAN out to another 3x3 router for first floor WIFI and then LAN out to homeplug to connect to the third router for ground floor WIFI. Use 5GHz also good, prevent interference from neighbours' router which are usually stock router which runs on 2.4GHz. but homeplug only can provide 30% speed... I guess, I will replace thompson router all together.. replacing with TP-Link WR1043ND .. they have local stock firmware to support maxis/unifi .... |

QUOTE(andrekua2 @ Dec 25 2013, 06:25 PM) i will just replace the thompson router for now ..probably with either TP-Link TL-WDR3600 or -WDR4300.. however the price for WDR4300 can't justify the additional antenna for less features compare to WDR3600.. TP-Link stock firmware replace thompson router Addtional TP-LINK with openwrt/ddwrt for repeater function for upstairs .... |

having 2nd thoughts about TP-LINK..
Asus RT-N12HP 2xAnt (9dBi) looks kinda good .. Also adding another Asus with it built wireless repeater function would be a breeze. |

QUOTE(andrekua2 @ Dec 26 2013, 03:57 PM) Actually I already got two pretty good router. DIR655 and Apple Time Capsule which I bought during SiS warehouse sale few years back. don't fix something that is not broken . Im planning to cover the whole house with just a single router but if I did that, those two, plus the homeplug will be useless. Sigh... |

QUOTE(wiraone @ Dec 27 2013, 11:20 AM) I don't think it is a sabotage, they don't get anything by sabotaging Unifi customer. I had problem before when migrating from Unifi to Maxis, I had it to parallel run it for couple of months before decided that I should terminate the Unifi. Since Unifi and Maxis has different setup, they also changed the fibre modem password on their side but without updating it on my modem. This I blame it on the uncompetent Maxis installer. He should've follow the procedures and not by checking that everything was working okay and that should be it. No auth/link can be caused by physical disconnection too. So, nothing much you could do other than calling Maxis and have an appointment with both Unifi and Maxis technicians again. No Auth/Link light on TM equipment means the is problem with the physical Fiber line.I am just making RAGE assumption of sabotage Thankfully I kept the TM Contractor. I ask him directly with Maxis report number. seems that he might be able to come and have a look .. what rage me is , barely 1 week .. 5 days to be exact .. down already.. i was just able to download maybe 40GB-50GB worth of files only .. |
