QUOTE(xpresside @ Dec 13 2013, 08:11 PM)
already did complaint.
guess what? when i first requested for a public ip, the customer service repeated 3 times to make sure my username is "usernameid@home.maxis.com.my" when it's supposed to be "username@public.maxis.com.my"
had to find it out my self. Not sure if they are trained by monkeys or what.

Today one of the customer service called me and said my username has been signed to 10mbps plan -.-
Now after i rebooted my router, i got back my 20mbps and public ip.
If i didnt make any complains these ppl wont do anything.

well, glad you got it sorted out. me on the other hand need to stick with their router to get astro iptv working. waiting for Asus to get the special routing settings from maxis astro iptv because changing vlan doesnt work.. my router for now is just for hiasan. blush.gif

Anyone experiencing frequent disconnects on Maxis fibre? What was your solution? 'Cause I'm getting disconnected every other hour and it's pissing me off to no end.

I just noticed that my technicolor router was updated with new firmware again. Now it's version 10.2.8.3 as in the screenshot. I also noticed 2 new WLAN networks as in the other screenshot. Does anyone know what it's for? And another point is I notice now the wireless range is much better. Previously I couldn't be connected in my kitchen and outside verandah, but now I been tried streaming YouTube, no problem. So wireless performance is much better now. But what are the items there for?

Maxis did the update remotely. Maybe u need to call them and ask them to do it. I complained about bad wireless coverage and slow speed, therefore they must loaded the new firmware for me.

Hi all, newbie here. I'm planning to sign up for the 10Mbps plan, anything I should be aware of? icon_question.gif
Oh and are there any other (hidden) charges other than RM148?
Feel free to 'educate' me smile.gif

Any reason why you want to go for maxis and not unifi? Read the first page till the last one and then decide.

1. availability depends on area

2. the speed was very consistency in my end, but, mostly some say no..

3. u will be on contract 24 month (2 years)

4. if u want terminated, within the contract period, have to pay RM500 while iptv RM2400, pro-rated to the number of months left on the contract.

5.if ur area using maxis back-haul, it wont be much problem. but if TM, expect delay installation either internet package only or include iptv package.

6. expect hideous wired in your house duirng installation.

that is all i think.. hope u understand~ smile.gif

Yes IPTV, I called Astro and complained about slow speed and bad wireless coverage. I sent them a very nasty email. Very nasty. Next day someone from Astro service recovery unit called me and apologized and gave me 2 options. I can either cancel my Astro IPTV and maxis broadband with no penalty fees and revert back to normal Astro and re-connect my Unifi or give the a chance to solve my problem. So I decided to give one last chance. After that a technician from maxis called me and told me he is remotely upgrading my firmware which includes some new wireless tweaks as in my screenshot in my previous post above, but I don't know what those settings are for. My wireless coverage has indeed improved. Speed also so far so good.

Correct me if I'm wrong but, I've heard from many people around me that Unifi isn't really that stable.
If you don't mind, please point it out for me that why do you think Unifi > Maxis tongue.gif

As stated by previous reply, Maxis is running on top of Unifi for the end of mile connection, anything goes wrong, your downtime will be doubled, I've experienced this myself. So .. if Unifi is not stable, I would say that Maxis is double that .. I moved from Unifi to Maxis with the thought of having double the speed with less than what I paid for Unifi.. I was wrong! You can barely feel the speed increase, yes, I could get 10Mbps or so connection when testing with local server, but we usually browse/download from overseas servers. My average speed with Maxis is the same as what I had with Unifi. And another point that you may want to look at, the throttling done on P2P, I don't use P2P that much tho'. And good luck if you choose Maxis tongue.gif

Not entirely accurate, at least in my experience. Yes, browsing will not be dramatically faster comparing my 10mbps Maxis to my former Unifi 5mbps, but this is often dependent on the site that we want to go to. But for direct downloads (not P2P), I get dl speeds of 1.2 MBps consistently, which is the 10 Mbps connection. With Unifi, it was typically 500-600 KBps, which is again consistent with the 5Mbps service. So it is faster...
