QUOTE(kinghenry @ Aug 6 2013, 08:10 PM) is there any way to boost the speed of downloading? im using tixati, but been reading a few comments from this forum, some stating that utorrent better. or should i change my ip? @@ I believe Maxis cap the torrent tracker... when I try to download famous tracker like yify with high seed and leech the speed will be cap.. but download from less famous tracker... the speed is as usual.Sometimes I keep update the tracker for famous torrent like yify and in about 1/2 hour the speed will rise 6 time the cap limit. |

QUOTE(wiraone @ Jul 15 2013, 01:30 PM) Just need to change the DNS, follow the guide found here: Bro, thanks for your help, successfully changed the DNS (to google DNS, unblock-us not yet).https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=2384890&st=631 Basically, just backup your user.ini, edit the user.ini using text editor, change the DNS as per above (for unblock-us, use 208.122.23.22 & 208.122.23.23). Upload back the file .. and reboot your devices .. Just wanna check, do you ever need to go back to unblock-us website to activate vpn every time maxis reboot the connection? I read in the forum maxis 'refresh' the internet connection every 48 hours. This post has been edited by yoikn: Aug 7 2013, 12:20 PM |

Ok.. some review..
Got it last week (Saturday) - 10MBps line Suprised to see both Unifi contractor + maxis installer at the same time. Both are friendly. Installation finished in 1 hour. Feels RM 170 is quite expensive for over the ceiling installation. Anyhow, unifi contractor willing to give more than 15m without extra charge. Installation are tidy. Being told unlimited download by the maxis guy -> Kena con Throttle to 50KBps for 6 hours.. @@ (Found out the 2nd day) This duration = anything oso slower than usual. Ping response quite high. The router is thomson brand. Blardy useless. Cant even change dns. So little stuff to configure. Even my old streamyx router have more stuff to configure than this crap. So far it held quite ok. No restart so far. Maybe coz I use chikai fan to cool it. I have existing VPN account. Sometimes work sometimes not. Headache here. Any suggestion?? If work, can get up to 1.1MBps. When it is not working, download speed like 1 to 2KBps. Average around 500-700KBps. When download, I still can surf. But not always. Questions. 1. The TM device thingy got 4 ports. Can use other port to connect or only connect to Thomson router? 2. Anyone using Microtik router? Any review? If change router, the phone still can use? 3. Anyway to change the dns in Thomson router? P/S : I think streamyx is much more stable and faster than this. |

Fingers crossed, it should work when I just plug it in. If you are using Maxis VOIP, you will need to keep the Thomson router for the phone's sake. Otherwise you can try the following link to configure your modem to and use for VOIP: https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2710206 About your installation, RM170 for ceiling installation? Mind sharing what did they do for the RM170? |

Above 15m got extra charge. Calculate per meter. |

QUOTE(andrekua2 @ Aug 6 2013, 01:14 PM) Kepong wise, FTTH considered not bad what... Yup, Maxis FTTH serve me well all the while, but I do experience extremely slow speed or no connection few times from last year until now. My neighbours all using Unifi and starting to complain slow speed. Maybe 5Mbps feel slow kot. Maxis at least 10Mbps. As for torrent, I didnt feel any slowdown at all despite the hours. It may be slower to reach full speed during peak hours (6pm-12am) but I did not experience any slowdown. The only problem for FTTH is the slowness when downloading from those sharing sites... really much slower than Unifi. I can get better speed from my 3G data than FTTH. torrent usually can get full speed also...but same as u during reak hour it's slower to reach full speed. file sharing site download, I can reach full speed because I use rapid premium, and ryushare premium. |
