Recently maxis technician came to my house, forcing me to change to the new, black maxis router.

After about 3 weeks, a very weird wifi issue surfaced.

I've no problem with Lan connection, only the wifi.

The wifi signal is good, and when using speedtest on wifi via ookla on my ipad, it shown good ping, download and upload speed.

However, I am not able to browse the internet etc.

I tested everything from changing channel, on and off the modem and router, still not able to solve it.

Then I off the the modem and router for a few hours, and then it's working fine.

I am not sure if the issue will be repeated itself, as now the internet is only up about one hour.

Fyi, there is no such issue with my old thompson square white router for many years.

Anyone with the new maxis router having this issue? Can you please share your experience.

I am worry this weird wifi issue would hit me during raya period and I would be without wifi for a looong period!

So there is no way to change dns on this maxis v3 router? Just bought a chromecast...and watching netflix thru proxydns...and chromecast settings required it to add static ip within the router settings... Any chance if any of you can lead me to answers on this?

tried it..but a lot of unknown commands....haih...

Chromecast is not rooted...and the instructions for the dns i bought have to set it thru the router...haihh...

any solutions? ive tried the instructions u've given, but cant change anything...even the 'dns server route list' is an unknown command...haihhh

I had the same problem with Maxis, the infamous "no port" problem.

Went to maxis near KLCC on 1st june, bad luck, no port, they asked me to join waiting list, but I declined as i thought to try ask TM for unifi.

Contacted my friend who work in TM, he said my area have been subbed to Maxis, he said TM cannot do anything unless they get request from Maxis for extra port.

Went to maxis again on 1st july, same, no port. I register for waiting list, I was promised they will contact me within 1 week for confirmation. 1 week gone, 2 week gone, no call yet from maxis. Went again to maxis on 23 july, same, they say no port. I asked for the manager, here is the surprise, straight away I start "teach lesson", another manager appeared, then another, all kena "teach lesson", after that a lady came(dunno who she is), had conversation with her for 5 minute, suddenly there is a port available for installation, she register for me, etc etc, installation date confirmed at the same time on 8 august. LOL

I'm actually not worried about the speed cap for torrenting since I will be using custom router and will not use VOIP.

My friend had a same problem, slow torrent, everything slow. What I did was, take the DIR-615 unifi router, flash it with openwrt, configure the VLAN, et voilà, I'm getting full speed for everything. But once i connect the thomson router to dir-615 for VOIP, the speed drop. Same case when using the thomson router only, when i disable VOIP in the thomson router, I can get full speed for everything

Znarl here.  I have been going over the Thomson configuration.  I suspected for a while the slow down of traffic was caused by the router and not within Maxis network because when you power off and then on again the router it goes fast for a while. 

Am slowly working through the configuration and disabling all the unused services or services that serve Maxis and not me. Would be interested in hearing any feedback on the changes I'm suggesting.

Yes, I noticed that Maxis does this.  Logs into your router and resets it once in a while.  Can see them doing it in the router syslog.  Disabling the two Maxis remote accounts stops Maxis from resetting:

Noticed also Maxis logs in and does some kind of speed test, locking all local devices out while doing it and it takes about 10 minutes.  Disabling the accounts stops this too.

I use port forwarding instead of UPnP

Under the 'Toolbox' menu ->Game & Application Sharing , if you are using TG784n..

There is a disable button on the configuration page. VOIP something, most bottom one if I'm not mistaken. 

Anybody can recommend me routers that have excellent wifi range and support maxis ftth+astro iptv?
Currently in the market to upgrade the technicolor back at home thats been performing very poorly recently.
I did see a few Asus and Tp-link routers that I like that apparently supports maxis fibre (sticker on them says so) but does not say whether it would support astro on them
Any help from the gurus is much appreciated!

if im not mistaken, VLAN for iptv is 823. In openwrt, set vlan 823 to unmanaged and connect the astro stb/decoder to the port in router than is tagged to vlan 823. Im not really sure how the astro stb/decoder is connected to the router, if you can give me a picture of default installation, i can give more suggestion

Does anyone use this pair with Astro IPTV? Is it stable?

Regarding the Maxis FUP Policy that control the speed from 8pm to2am, May i know what are the speed that normally get ?
Or does it just control the download speed but still can stream youtube/other multimedia website ?

anyone experienced astro iptv decoder auto reboot problem...occassionally it just reboot by itself and seems like cannot get an IP, auto reboot can lasts for a few hours so I cannot watch astro...but internet is OK though....astro came and replaced my decoder 3 times!!! but i dun think problem is with the decoder.

I'm astro subscriber with 2 decoder.. Sharing with my fren and paying 50-50 bill.. 1 decoder at my place & other decoder at his place (other house)

Then Maxis offering me using iptv bundle w' internet and 2 decoder using no dish at all..

My question is, can i take the offer and my fren still can using the decoder with dish at his place??

Are you sure the router is plugged into Modem port 2?
