We planned and booked the flight ticket and rooms late August. Off course we did a lot of reading online on where to stay what to do and what not from various blogs, trip advisor and also from Lowyat Forum. We stayed in Patong, Sawatdirak road, it was 3 minutes walk to the beach and 10 minutes to Jungceylon and Bangla road. We got around by renting a scooter. It cost us 200 bahts per day. All the price stated here are for peak period, so do bargain when you are goingoff peak and do not pay anything more than what is indicated here. So this is how we spent 4 night and 5 days in Phuket . » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « QUOTE(willchua @ Oct 22 2012, 11:51 AM) QUOTE(kimhoong @ Oct 17 2012, 12:36 AM) |

QUOTE(hamtaro98 @ Apr 1 2013, 10:17 PM) Haha, same here but this week I'm going there.Actually I'm still deciding on what to do. Arrival - Nightlife Probably first day - Island Tour (Still considering between alternatives) Second day - Adventurous (Parasailing, water rafting & ATV) and Island Tour (if still have time). Third Day - Free and Easy City Tour & Shopping. Here's a link that I found, price are more expensive. http://www.phukettoursdirect.com/phi-phi-islands-tours.html Probably you can plan and bargain when you arrive. |

Any hotels (RM150-200/night) to recommend and activity to do there (what are the price like during peak season)?? and what are the total budget expenses expected? thanks for all your helps~ Prices are not cheap, you can get better price when you enquire with the tours here. For example, similan island tour is 2200 bath but I paid 1800 bath only including transfer from hotel. Peak season is December and January. Heard from my tour operator at that time hard to find hotels and most of the time the tour to islands are crowded. For hotels you can search via booking.com Recommended to stay in Patong beach as this is where nightlife the most happening. Rent a motorbike for 200 bath per day or tuk tuk 200 bath one way. But good food are hard to find in Patong, usually average and very expensive (especially seafood). This post has been edited by Icehart: Apr 8 2013, 01:46 PM |

By the way for island tours, please bring swimming googles. Don't rent the flippers and don't take the snorkeling set.
Also if you're traveling with speedboat like below: Sit in the middle, don't sit at front and back. You'll thank me later. Also if you never use a flipper before, don't use it. You'll be given seasick pill. Take two and keep one for returning journey just in case. This post has been edited by Icehart: Apr 9 2013, 12:18 PM |

You mean Patong bay Residence? was actually looking at this: http://www.booking.com/hotel/th/patong-bay...lability_target but the distance with main streets looks kinda far. any comment on this? also any forumers been to phuket during peak season ( dec15-jan 15)?? It's quite ok, just additional 5-10 minutes walk from my hotel. QUOTE(jasperchai @ Apr 10 2013, 05:53 PM) oh.. no wonder... I heard Coral island is fantastic. Somehow while Similan island is great, we regret going to the island due to the tremendous amount of time taken on transport. Hotel (Patong beach) to Jetty already 1 hour+. Boat ride 1 hour and 30 minutes. They reward with snorkeling 1 hour only (on two islands). Somehow not worth it. |

QUOTE(alienhero90 @ Apr 13 2013, 11:19 PM) hi icehart, Yes. I booked the deluxe room with them via their website. Well if you're curious you can always email them for more info. was checking out silver resortel, their main website there's a best available rate. seems to be cheaper compared to book from agoda, booking.com or other sites. is it trustable and reliable? and what room would u recommend? thanks. Just don't book the mini standard room. Wireless can be pretty shitty but it's free so it's okay. It's about 2 minutes walk to 7 eleven which can be pretty convenient. Around 45 minutes from Airport to the Hotel. Have the hotel address written so you can show the taxi driver. Not all taxi driver knows where the hotel is. And oh, don't forget the Thai electrical plug. I wasted some money to buy travel charger. This the thai plug there: Anything you want to know about the hotel you can ask me. Overbooked my stay and now dont know what to do. You can have a good rest for half day from morning till noon. Activity starts from late evening to nightlife. Evening around 4pm you can drop by Patong beach for beach activities (banana boat - jet ski - para sailing) and have dinner at the restaurant by the beach. Then head to bangla road for massage and enjoy nightlife. or if u wan seafood dinner also can, nearby bangla road. there also got one shopping mall but close at 10pm. the next 1 day i will probably drive out to town for atv or go kart / souvenir and night time visit the night market (quite big) This post has been edited by Icehart: Apr 14 2013, 12:39 AM |

Just came back from Phuket last nite...
Stayed at Phi Phi Don for 4d3n and Patong for 3d2n... Phi Phi Don is somewhat of a 5 Star Slum area... dont expect too much but you may be surprised. Lots of wifi spots there and almost all the shops you eat will have wifi.. Weather started to get bad on Tuesday and Wednesday. I was diving and it wasnt fun trying to get back on to the boat... On Wednesday I took the ferry to Phuket and the waves were horrible.. A huge 3-4 storey ferry was tossed around like nothing... My original plan was to take a Phi Phi tour the next day from Patong was abandoned.. a few tour shops I visited also advised against it... Not much to do in Patong unless you like to visit go go bars and drink. But very calm and relaxing during the day.. Watched a movie in a cinema... That was an interesting experience hehehe. |

Hi guys, wondering if anyone knows about renting a pocket wifi egg in Phuket? Tried checking on google but failed to find any. Only saw some 3G prepaid cards but I worry that the card can't be used on my iPad without a sim cutter. Any ideas?

Good good, Phuket is really nice and beautiful place. There, I spend around Rm1500++ including air ticket, accommodation, meals etc…My advise is that not to bring too much cash and used USD because it is accepted everywhere. Use credit card will be recommended.

I find that driving in Phuket very relaxing. Smooth road.No holes unlike our road in Malaysia.I did not experience any harsh driving by them. But their driving is kinda slow. Tend to hog the right land on highway. I think we KL drivers are more scarier than them. Driving around Patong needs to be more careful as many foreigners riding bike. And it may be their first time riding. So just becareful. Other than that, its fine. Drove there twice already. QUOTE(Icehart @ Apr 25 2013, 03:12 PM) There is insurance covered. Hai, guys. My friends and I are going to Phuket from 21st May to 24th May.
I have several questions: 1. It is the low season, will it be raining whole day, or just a few hours a day? How bad will the weather be? 2. We will be staying at Poppa Palace, Patong. Has anyone stayed at the hotel before? How was it? 3. I am really into snorkeling? Which beach in Phuket has clear water, fair fishes and corals to discover? 4. Any good buffet recommended? 5. We will be going for an island tour for one day. There are few options on our mind: Phi Phi, Coral, Racha. Which is the best for snorkeling? Distance? (We were gonna book for Phi Phi trip, but my friend said that snorkeling in Phi Phi is not good because the water has many garbage and little marine life. Redang is even better, they said. Is that true?) I am looking forward to your reply, thank you! |

QUOTE(MessiLim @ May 4 2013, 03:24 AM) Hai, guys. My friends and I are going to Phuket from 21st May to 24th May. If you are into Snorkeling then I have to recommend Similan island. However, the whole journey is a bit exhausting considering you have to spend 5 hours for transport to jetty and then boat to island. If I were you I'll just take those offshore snorkeling trips instead of island trip (island trip to Similan can be pretty boring, but snorkeling is damn fun and nice)I have several questions: 1. |

Still okay, but not as good as Similan. Where's the best spot for snorkeling in Phi Phi? Maya Bay? Phi Phi Ley? How's the coral there in Phi Phi? Colorful? Healthy? What marine life can we expect there? Clown fish? Sea turtle? You mentioned about shore snorkeling. Which beach in Phuket is best for snorkeling? Is shore diving available in Phuket? |

Hi all, got so much info from this thread and is my time to pay and contribute some personal experience and info since im back from Phuket. hope this helps.
Was in Phuket for 4 days 3 nights. got free stay at Marriot vacation club in Mai Khao beach area. Was a little too far. but since is free, so no complaint. I will prefer to stay in kata beach area for my next visit. Not quite like patong. Massage was not authentic, food is overpriced, and crowded with tourist as well. Experience night life in patong will be nice if u are into it and a visit to Hard rock is a bonus for Patong area. Rented a car from Mr. Booncherd. Will highly recommend him for car rent as he is a easy going person. Rented from 12noon on 1st may and return 4th may 8pm cost 3500 bath for a new vios. you may have a look at : http://www.phuketthaicarrent.com/contact.htm . food wise : I like Phuket town as theres lot of authentic thai food and more locals. had dinner at the hawker road side near robinson and ocean shopping plaza nice and cheap. Had tom yum soup, fried grouper fish with lemongrass sauce, fried calamari, stir fried vege, steam lala, fried pork with garlic and one big chang beer only less than 900 bath, while in patong we eat abt the same dishes plus a mango sticky rice is cost abt 1200bath. for massage comparison : Try Shino spa / kims for massage at only 250 bath. more professional, quiet and relaxing. Tried thai massage at patong at 300 bath, not authentic and only 45 mins. gals keep talking and laughing with each other while massage. room was dark and mosquito here and there. not hygiene at all. Not manage to go for island hopping as is rainy days while we there. so we went paradise beach as recommended by other forumers. Not far from patong and please becareful as the road to the island is quite steep and narrow. rainy seasons road might a bit too wet. so drive carefully. paid 100 bath for entrance to the beach plus parking and a sun bed. rental of snorkelling kit is 150 bath plus deposit of 500 bath. too sad, nothing much can be seen for snorkelling but a good place for relaxing as not crowded like other beach if u like more privacy. Shopping: Expo market in Phuket town is a good place for clothes /souvenir shopping. Big C and Tesco for cheapest groceries. both can be seen almost anywhere in Phuket. jungceylon in patong is big but nothing much to shop. a coffee at the central of mall is quite relax though. If you are there for weekend, do check out Phuket weekend market in Phuket town as well. open from 4pm till late as there have variety of foods like our local pasar malam. The famous hand made ice cream found there too. Too bad not manage to stay there any longer as we need to rush to airport by 8pm. Overall spending in 350 SGD (not including air fare). thanks for reading and Sorry no photo attached as the photos still in my camera. |

Offshore snorkeling - where you ride a boat specialized for snorkeling / scuba diving only, no island trip. How's the coral there in Phi Phi? Colorful? Healthy? What marine life can we expect there? Clown fish? Sea turtle? You mentioned about shore snorkeling. Which beach in Phuket is best for snorkeling? Is shore diving available in Phuket? As for Phi Phi overall still okay but not as clear and less fish compared to Similan. Also Phi Phi tend to be very crowded even during low season. |

QUOTE(Babedorr @ May 15 2013, 09:57 AM) Hihi , will go to Phuket for honeymoon next week...wanna ask that:- You should exchange in Malaysia la, save the hassle. I've seen very bad rate, some better rate (1 out of 15, 2 cents above Mid Valley rate) while the rest similar or comparable. So unless you're exchanging like 20k and above, the savings is not much. Better concentrate on your trip than worrying about exchanging your money.i) Should i exchange the money in Malaysia or better to change it in Phuket? ii) Will be charge airport tax or not? How much is it? iii) If we want to rent a transport to move around, which option is better? Car or motorbike? Any recommendation for renting service with best price? Thanks^^ I travel with AirAsia, not sure about airport tax but did not fork out any money for airport tax unlike Bali. I think AirAsia has included them in the cost. As for transport depending on your trip itinerary whether you will be concentrated on Patong or you would prefer to travel to Phuket town or the outskirt luxury hotels. Short trips you can travel with motorbike but for longer trip car renting is recommended. Car renting you can enquire with hotels, average cost of motorbike is 250b+- (200-300) and car renting for Vios or City is 1200b. |

QUOTE(cynnz @ May 22 2013, 10:46 PM) yea..is there anything special there? for relax or more to snorkelling and diving? I think it's more of both relaxing and snorkeling. there're certain months that we cant go to that island, is that true? Similan islands usually "open" until the Songkran festival only. But some will continue to bring tourists after May, usually for greedy operators. Weather can be good sometime but most of the time it's pretty rough with a lot of rain during the SW monsoon season. But nothing much to do on the island unless you plan on diving. i will be going to phuket again this june, never been to similan though...what other islands do u recommend? its long speedboat journey to reach there, bout 3 hours, correct? It's 1 hour and 45 minutes per way. That's from the jetty to the island. Not sure where you plan to stay, so do include the traveling time from hotel to jetty as well. It can be quite exhausting. What other island..hmm..so far I've been only to Phi Phi and Similan. Will be back to Phuket soon. |

News for those visiting Phuket :
http://www.phuketgazette.net/phuket_news/2...erry-21177.html QUOTE PHUKET: More than 100 people were rescued from a tourist boat that started sinking while returning from Phi Phi Island to Phuket this afternoon after being damaged by big waves. No injuries were reported. The ferry, Puean Foong II, was near Chicken Island (Koh Kai), about 15 nautical miles from Phuket, when it took on water, said Phuket Marine Police Inspector Chatchai Sakdee. “When we received the report at 4:10 this afternoon, we sent a Marine Police vessel to rescue everyone,” Col Chatchai said. However, by the time the Marine Police boat arrived, the passengers and crew had been picked up by another tour boat, the Pichamon, which was traveling from Phuket to Phi Phi. The crew saw the ferry in trouble and stopped to help. “Pieces of the floor came flying off,” one of the rescued passengers, wet and still wearing his lifejacket on board the Pichamon, reported. “Water was gushing in, and we realized, ‘get some life jackets’,” he said. The Pichamon continued on to Phi Phi with the rescued passengers and was expected to arrive at 7:30pm this evening. |

Overbooked my stay and now dont know what to do. QUOTE(imran85 @ Apr 20 2013, 04:10 PM) Just came back from Phuket last nite... i will be going phuket this weekend, third visit there, gonna stay at patong for 2 nights (1st night arrived late evening)..then proceed to phiphi..previously stayed 2 nights in phiphi and went for yacht sailing..Stayed at Phi Phi Don for 4d3n and Patong for 3d2n... That was an interesting experience hehehe. may i know which area you stay at phiphi? probably can share some tips? hehe.. |

Hi Everyone,.. i've just got back from Phuket,.. hope that some info i saw help your next trip:
1. Basically i only booked my Hotel online 2. Once arrival get out from Airport look for the Taxi sign to get your transport to hotel Taxi : 800 bath mini van 180 bath 3. Don't worry about your island hoping or activities... you can get it almost every single streets you pass by or person you pass by, just bargain your price if its right, if not just look for a shop so that you might feel more secure or hotel can do too,.. different between 100-300 more or less. 4. Food! lobsters heaven! the price is about 150-215 bath per kilo best look for it around the streets after bangla streets and turn left, right is Jungceylon mall. 5.Lunch cheap n nice you can always consider Bangla Mall they offer good offer for it in their food court,.. its just a small court but price is from 40 bath to 60 bath not bad if you have tight budget there for food. 6. Not to be missed your transport! Well you got 2 choice! A: your private 4 wheel or car that cost you 1600-1800 for around Phuket for 8-10hours (max 4-6 person) B: Tuk Tuk! i paid 800 bath for 8 hours (max 4 person) (don't worry if he ask you to go shopping,. u can miss a few small pearl shop,.. but never miss the nuts factory as they provide free drinks and all sample food for free! y pay to eat nuts when you can have it for free! lol PM me if you guys need my tuk tuk contact,.. he's nice and knows a lil english,... elderly man. 7. if you're planing to rent a motor bic,.. do be aware that police randomly pick up tourist to check on them,... like ere "MATA mau dui kopi!" well good luck and enjoy your trip there as over in Phuket you got nothing to worry but your pocket ain't full enough of $$$! PM me for contacts as I've got some contacts for each. |

Hello peepz, i've read a few tips on travelling to phuket.
I'll be travelling there mid of september, yes the low season. This trip will mostly be for snorkeling, 4 days 3 nights, planning snorkeling for 2 days. Looking for trusted and recommended tour to similian islands and other beautiful part of phuket for snorkeling. Anyone has any recommendation on the tour company as well as the estimated price? Thanks. |

Is this the right time? or I should expect strong winds, big waves and rain? |

On the first day you should go Old Phuket Town, Big Buddha, Wat Chalong and Phuket Temples And on the second day Phang Nga Bay, Phuket Viewpoints and then Bangla Road Nightlife And rest of the days you can Spend a Day (or two) on Phi Phi Island.

Go to raya island for island hopping and snorkeling.
For massage, I would recommend Emotion Day Spa (http://www.emotiondayspa.com/). Their traditional thai massage is really good and the price is cheap too. The Emotion Day Spa is centrally located in Patong just one block that from the beach on "Rat-U-Thit" road. Is the same row as Novotel Hotel. Do visit No. 6 Restaurant which is located opposite of CNN Hotel. Another must do thing is to try their night market foods at the Banzaan Market (just behind Juncyleon). |

Hi Guys,
I have complimentary 2 nights stay at B-Lay Tong, Phuket for anytime around November to December. I am also getting additional nights at great discounts. Since I will not be able to travel, I would like to give them to someone who will use it. No point letting it go to waste. http://www.b-laytong.com/ I have been offered the Grand Deluxe room. http://www.b-laytong.com/room.html# Grand Deluxe Room: The room has a king-size bed, an extra living space and outdoor whirlpool bath. It comes complete with a spacious bathroom with a separate free-standing bathtub and shower, LCD TV, iPod dock, love seat and complimentary WIFI Internet. B-Lay Tong is a 4 star hotel in Patong. Few mins away from the main area of Patong. Currently the room is priced around RM 750 a night. Anyone interested can contact me via PM. I am ready to listen to offers Also, the room does include breakfast for 2 and inclusive all taxes Thank you. p/s - mods I hope this is ok. Otherwise please do advise. |

B-Lay is 2 mins bike ride from Patong beach. Its near to the party area yet far away from all the noise.
I want to sell off my complimentary stay. The rooms are worth 750 a night but I am willing to let go for much cheaper. |

hi, very good info here. Very useful.
Just booked flight few days ago AA. ~RM220/pax return, all in. Departing 9th Oct for 7 days (wanna relax kaw kaw), i know it's low season. Going with wife & 4 yr old daughter. Anyway some Q here which is making me headache : 1. Do they provide life jackets that fit my 4 yr old during ferry/boat trips? 2.What cheap transportation suitable for 3 person? - read here tuk tuk not cheap, rates much more expensive than BKK. Is there any motorcycle with side carriage for 3 person? |

Hi, i just booked my ticket to Thailand. 11 days 10 nights arriving Krabi and leaving from Bangkok to KL.
For now i've planed to travel from KRABI - PHI PHI - PHUKET - BANGKOK - PATTAYA - BANGKOK. Probably taking a flight from Phuket to Bangkok. Planning to take the Maya Bay boat tour and I'm into adventure. I would like to ask: 1. 11 days in Thailand which area you would advise me to visit? 2. Any recommendations on hotels? budget 200-250/night 3. best snorkeling spot. snorkeling once is enough for me. Find it boring doing the same thing at diff island. Thank you very much |

Hi Peeps!
I'll be going for a trip to Bangkok, Phuket & Phi Phi Islands this coming December. However, I am in a dilemma and hope that you guys and girls could shed some light for me! There are currently 4 options in hand to get to Bangkok - Phuket - Bangkok: 1. Rent a car and drive the 900+ KM long journey - I think it's quite safe driving in Thailand and actually want to do the long journey, however, it would be a drive at night. What do you guys think? - I believe I am able to rent a car and drive in Thailand with any problems with just my Malaysian Driving License? Please correct me if I am wrong. - Any of you guys can share your experience on this and please provide me with a trusted rental car agency. - If I were to rent a car, I'd only drive one way and ditch the car in Phuket and take another mode of transportation back to BKK to fly back to Malaysia 2. Bus (I just recetly read news that one bus crashed and 40+ persons were injured. ) - My main concern is that again, we will be traveling at night and reaching Phuket in the morning. - Are there any midnight Busses that we can take as I have not found any. The latest I could find is 1800 hours. - Will the bus be leaving from Suvarnabhumi Airport or will I need to catch the bus at another location? 3. Flight (Affordable with AA but trying not to take a flight) - Less hassle and the fastest mode of traveling, however, this is the last option. You guys may weigh in on why I should fly to Phuket and pay a little more rather than use ground transport. 4. Train + Bus (I've read that we would need to transit at Surat Thani by Bus) - I am not well versed on this part as I have yet to read about it. I would appreciate it if you guys could give me some feedback. Much Appreciated! Matt This post has been edited by deladela: Nov 25 2013, 03:52 PM |

Phuket protestors close Land Transport Office
Teerayut Prasertphol (yellow shirt) at the Phuket Land Transport Office this afternoon. PHUKET: -- The Phuket Land Transport office was closed today after anti-government protestors arrived at the building around 1pm. The several hundred strong group arrived at the office and Teerayut Prasertphol from the Phuket Land Transport Office announced the closure. “We will see how the situation progresses day by day.” The protestors earlier went to the Phuket Vocational College but did not close it, instead just encouraged students and representatives to join in. There were also plans to go to Chalermprakiet School and the fisheries institute at Cape Panwa. There were also plans to perhaps go to the OrBorTor office in Mai Khao. One of the leaders, Amnuay Koombarn, told The Phuket News that there were no plans to disrupt the Phuket Town bus station or the Phuket International Airport. Phuket Provincial Hall has been closed since Wednesday after a 2,000 strong group arrived on Wednesday around 9am. http://www.thephuketnews.com/phuket-protes...ffice-43177.php |

you can try rayaburi, i was there and enjoyed the stay there. As you will be out most of the time, all you need is a good bed, clean bathrooms. Its also walking distance to soi bangla. another hotel you should consider is album hotel, ita also along the same road where rayaburi is -sawatdirak.
i am also going back tp phuket in april 30th to 2nd may. considering either rayaburi or album. i have a lengthy post on phuket here - http://www.mixologist84.com/2012/11/phuket-trip-2012.html i believe it will be useful for you and will answer most of your questions. |

Yeah very limited info for the shooting range in the mall. Didn't even know about it last time I was there 2 years back.
Staying in Patong area, noisy but convenient. Lots of hotels there. Can try Tripadvisor for hotel reviews. If you want cheaper rates always directly check with the hotel first before other 3rd party websites, normally rates are better when booked directly. |

QUOTE(j0ann3 @ Apr 1 2014, 11:03 AM) Been checking all the third party sites and tripadvisor.. i think its the best to find out how the hotel condition is.. Shooting range should be roughly 800 -1000 THB for 10 bullets. That's my estimation. I only been to Phuket Shooting range long time ago and that one is far from Patong, so closest to me will be the one in the mall. Can i get ur assistance to just roughly check the prices for the tours?? i know they have some jungle trip and rafting stuffs (googled alot). If you do find the shooting range~ pls pls pls... tell me too~ hheheh Tours? Sorry, my group don't do tours. So you gotta find from the others here in the forum. The 1st page have some info from Stimix but some of it is old. |

Just came back yesterday.
Now started rainy season so out of the 4 days we were there, it was cloudy everyday and was not sunny. On the 3rd day rained from lunch time to about 5pm and on our 2nd day rained in the evening from 7pm to midnight. Overall did not dampen the holiday, the cloudy weather made it much nicer to walk around although it is humid. Found the shooting cafe in Jungceylon mall. It was on the ground floor near the restaurants. Prices from 800baht to 1500 baht depending on gun and ammo. Shot a .45 Glock for 950 baht (10 shots) including the target to bring home. Can take pictures and videos freely. But this place closing down on May 18 according to their notice at the front. Reason being contract ending. |

Hi guys,
Just need some advice. I'm planning to take the morning ferry from ao nang to phi phi, then take the next ferry to phuket. There's technically 4-5 hours of free time when I arrive in phi phi on the morning ferry. I just want to go sight seeing for 1 hour max in maya beach while waiting for the afternoon ferry. Possible? Thanks |

You can buy tour packages on the ship, their itineraries are compact but very rushed.for phuket, they're gonna stop at a jeti, but for krabi they're gonna use a boat to send us over to shore. should i hire a tour guide or just use tut-tut? Tuk-tuk is fine but you have to be back at the ship before 8-9pm. This post has been edited by gaeria84: Aug 22 2014, 05:29 PM |

Does anyone here have info on the free shuttle from patong to central festival? As far as I know the shuttle pickups are from certain hotels only. Can I take the shuttle back to patong from central festival if I'm not staying at these hotels?

Hi all
I am planning to go to Phuket for a 5d4n vacation for 4 pax. Hotel is always definitely on budget (but not too cheap as well!) as we'll be out most of the time. Also, any tattoo parlor in Phuket? |

Hi there,
Would like to get some advice from you guys here. I am planning to book the island tour from mayday fair travel agency and the rates are as below: James Bond Island - 2000 baht (which includes: Av 15mins / Elephant trekking 15mins, Ox-cart Riding, Buffalo Photo Taking, Fish Spa, Sea-Canoeing, Monkey & Elephant Show, Lunch , Tour Guide , Insurance , Sea-canoe Equipment , Refreshment on board , Life Jacket , National Park Entry fee.) Is it expensive? Phi-Phi Island - 1500 bath (which includes: Lunch , Tour Guide , Insurance , Snorkerling Equipment (Fin exclusive) , Refreshment on board , Life Jacket , National Park Entry fee) Is the price reasonable? I also intend to allocate 1000 bath for the food every day (mostly local thai food - like the nutella banana roti canai) btw what else is good there? any recommendations? How much does the normal massage session costs? foot and full body? and which are the recommended ones? And lastly, how much should i pay for my transportation from airport to patong? and should i get the hotel to settle this on my behalf or can i just get a cab once i arrive at the airport? I intend to travel around the patong area myself (solo trip) for one day - circle around the town, watch some muay thai fights and several other things (possibly visit buddha statue). Which mode of transportation is preferable? scooter, walk or cab? Thank you. |

I have booked my accomodation for 4D 3N at Patong Ours guesthouse. According to the reviews and map, its located very near to beach.
For transportation to phuket maybe I will go there by bus to Hat yai and take minivan/ VIP bus to Phuket. Going back to KL maybe I will consider taking a flight For 4D 3N what do you suggest me to do? My bucketlist: bungjy jumping and parasailing. Im suck in swimming and snorkeling so I will not go for snorkeling package. Maybe some hiking/ trekking or cave tour? And again i will go solo. |

Mati lah if I cant get into the last ferry. burn again my hotel booking now surveying any travel agency in Hat yai which can provide transportation from Hat Yai to Phi2. I saw 1 from Cathay Tour Thailand. what donut? if your donut can last long for 1 week then I can buy it for u Your itinerary seems quite rushed, why not stay overnight at aonang? From aonang, you can easily get a ferry to phi phi. |

I have already booked bus ticket and accomodation (1st night at Phi Phi, 3N at Patong). I always like this..booked everything then later plan . Bcoz i tot the minivan is like the one in bangkok where the earliest is at 0530am. But fron the travel blog or even tripadvisor the minivan to krabi is usually at 0900am. Menangis la macam ini. But if i can find a travel agency which can provide transportation directly to phi phi, then it will be a big relief.Your itinerary seems quite rushed, why not stay overnight at aonang? QUOTE(nscid @ Jan 10 2015, 11:20 PM) I have booked my accomodation for 4D 3N at Patong Ours guesthouse. According to the reviews and map, its located very near to beach. i just got back from phuket. staying at patong area like you too. Patong is very far from the actual phuket town, well...about 15-20 mins drive if no traffic jam during the peak hours. And again i will go solo. i spent 4d3n too! if you are not into snorkeling or swimming, maybe you can visit local temples like chalong wat is pretty famous with the three monks, then there is a big buddha too. I don't go swimming as its really hot there at this month so i just went sightseeing along those beautiful beaches. kata , surin, rawai, karon are the beaches i went. I think Promthep cape is best to visit around 6pm local time, so you best get there by 5.30pm to find a parking and wait for the sunset. Its really beautiful. Then after the sunset, you can drive further down to another beach. Especially night time you may sit at Rawai beach where there is a row of restaurants there for your choice. If friday night then you can go down town at phuket to visit the old street. Local say its one of the special night where the streets are closed from traffic and people can walk down the street. Forgot the name of the street, but its where those Sino-Portuguese Houses are located. Just ask the taxi / tut tut driver then they will know. staying at patong is a good choice too. you can walk around there at night. if you are a nightlife animal then you come to the right place. its near bangla soi and its within walking distance. just go local 7/11 and spend 300bht buy a internet sim then use the google map function to bring you around. its helpful when you want to look for something and go solo. Try their famous bbq, moo ka tha. Its like our steamboat but somehow i like it their way hehe but beware of those taxi tho, some taxi are notorious for overcharging. make sure you ask before you ride in. RM500 is about 4500bht. just a rough figure for you to estimate, phuket fantasea ticket is 2200 bht adult, simon cabaret show is 700 bht, food can range between 150-300 depends on where/what you ordered, not sure how much is scooter, but if you rent a car, its about 1k bht per day |

QUOTE(Predator10 @ Feb 16 2015, 08:58 AM) What should I provide to rent a scooter at Phuket? just a photocopy of passport will do? They don't accept photocopy these days, unless you willing to pay a huge deposit (something like 200 euros like that). Still, I wouldn't want to give my passport to any roadside vendor.planning to go this coming April/May Safest way is to rent from your guesthouse (may cost a bit more but still very safe), or deal with a reliable tour agent. If you want, I can recommend the below tour agent (Vi). Lovely lady, very nice person that's why I steer travelers to her if I can. My dealings with her have have been very pleasant, no problems so far QUOTE(gaeria84 @ Jan 14 2015, 12:00 PM) Np, when you're in phuket, maybe can go watch simon show. QUOTE(gaeria84 @ Feb 16 2015, 09:08 AM) They don't accept photocopy these days, unless you willing to pay a huge deposit (something like 200 euros like that). Still, I wouldn't want to give my passport to any roadside vendor. Thanks for your reply & recommendation, may I know how much it cost per day? Safest way is to rent from your guesthouse (may cost a bit more but still very safe), or deal with a reliable tour agent. If you want, I can recommend the below tour agent (Vi). Lovely lady, very nice person that's why I steer travelers to her if I can. My dealings with her have have been very pleasant, no problems so far I don't have license here in Malaysia.. but should be ok if it's just scooter.. |

Done with my 7days island trip. Overall it was okay Thanks to all forummer who helped me a lot. I got very bad sunburn Managed to hop on to public bus (blue) to phuket town but missed the pink coloured bus. Staying overnight at the bus station was okay except a lot of mosquito over there. Please bring mosquito repellent
Really love phi phi island. Definitely will come back again once I am not afraid of water anymore hihihi. Phuket was okay. A lot of tourists and the things there wee not cheap. |

Don't have to go too far for sunsets, Karon and Windmill viewpoint is also not bad Maybe I go again in future (for Kata noi and phi phi don donuts ), but this year I planning to go to another 'koh' This post has been edited by gaeria84: Feb 24 2015, 02:58 PM |

From Klong Jilad to Tonsai was full but a lot of people hang out on the deck bcoz its still morning (9am) but i took afternoon ferry from phiphi to phuket. It was hot and sunny. People hide in the ferry conquering the seat. So I went to the deck and slept under the merciless sun. I got 350thb for Klong Jilad to Tonsai and 450thb for ferry from Tonsai to Rassada plus van transfer to Patong. I am not sure whether its pricey. Is it? Peak season. Tried to bargain the price and survey a few shops. Hello guys, gonna camp here for sometime now.
Bought tickets to Phuket and will be there for 6D5N on mid to late Sept. Anything to recommend to do and not to do? Hehe, been reading but still if anyone can give short summary of it. Been Thailand twice but mostly Bangkok, Hua Hin etc, but not islands. Trip is planned for relax and chill, budget wise about RM1K (Excl. flight tickets as already bought). Currently looking for nice accommodation and in early stage of planning trip itinerary. Not into temples or historic since its kind of escape from work and busy cities. |

GUys I am going to phuket this coming August. PLanning to stay at Novotel Vintage Resort. Any other really good recommendation for hotel? My budget is around 200-300 per day for 4 days. I wouldn't mind spending a little bit extra if the hotel is really really good.

QUOTE(TheSecRet @ May 21 2015, 06:10 PM) GUys I am going to phuket this coming August. PLanning to stay at Novotel Vintage Resort. Any other really good recommendation for hotel? My budget is around 200-300 per day for 4 days. I wouldn't mind spending a little bit extra if the hotel is really really good. What's your itinerary and what do you plan to do in Phuket? |

Let say I have MAS business class from Phuket to KLIA, do I entitled to access the lounge or only for Thai airways? |

What's the usual makan pricing there in Phuket ah? I'm trying to see how much I need to bring there. Is it about 300-400 baht per meal? |

QUOTE(haruyap @ Jun 8 2015, 12:03 AM) Hey guys, Phuket had been our annual beach holiday location for the past 4 years and I just came back few days ago from our 2015 holiday. It surprised me that food prices had gone up a lot at most of the places. We usually hang around Patong area. Last few years, you can get a decent fried rice/noodle at about 40-50 Baht. But suddenly this year, it easily gone up to 80-100 Baht (for just a plate of rice/noodle). Unless you drive to areas where mainly are locals, then there is possibility you can get around 40-50Baht per plates. What's the usual makan pricing there in Phuket ah? I'm trying to see how much I need to bring there. Is it about 300-400 baht per meal? Fyi, last few years there are not much China tourist but this year we suddenly felt the changes as there are lots of them. Chinese who are not from China still a "chinese look" for them. Hence, they still charge us like the rich China origin, but the food quality drop too. Due to the food price hike, it no longer our ideal annual beach destination. T-shirts still cheap (some even reduce prices), probably the Chinese did not buy those. |

I am regular there but don't be surprise, I can't swim ill be driving there. whats good there? apart of the phiphi island (always go there. so got bored) any nice place for snorkeling? btw, ill be staying at patong. Hence, never went snorkeling. I love to be there as it is a safe, friendly and the feeling of very free. Basically can do stuff that I dare not in Malaysia. Such as walking around town in bikini. Nobody will bother bout you. But the recent 2 years, most of the time spend on the beach or hotel.. enjoy doing nothing.. fully rest. since you'll be driving, tour around town.. hunt for food. As food in town are more authentic and cheaper. Meanwhile can try elephant ride at KokChang Safari (elephant hiking up the hill with you on their back.. quite fun). There is this "Upside down house", a new place. If you don't mind to pay the ticket, can go ahead. But I tried.. not worth. Hey, be alert.. Patong food price very pricy now, especially the market behind Jungceylon Mall. All China mari, eating there and bomb up the cost. |

If you really want cheap cheap, can try Seven Seas Hotel (around RM70-80), a very basic hotel. Is walking distance to the beach. But not in the centralize area. Still can walk if you don't mind. any idea where to stay? beach area...budget chalet ler patong beach got cheap chalet/hotel? We stayed there 2x as the hotel is quiet, I can do some reading. Meanwhile the room is big (just nice for me to put an inflatable tilam for my child at no extra cost). But we were driving, so we don't have the traveling problem. You may rent a motorbike at the hotel though. No matter how budget you want, make sure you get room with terrace/corridor. So that you can hang your wet swimwear daily. And guarantee fresh air, coz most of the budget hotel using old wooden furniture. |

Hi everyone,
Am planning to go to Phuket during mid-November, probably for about 4 days (Fri-Mon). Do you think that's a good time to go? What is the average budget there, for 2 persons? How is the transportation there? Can I rely on taxi / tuktuk / public transportation? I do not have an international driving license or motorbike license. |

QUOTE(gaeria84 @ Apr 16 2015, 09:08 AM) Recommend this tour agent Thanks, gaeria84. I read through your blog on 7D Krabi-Phuket trip. Your itinerary was awesome! Can see that it was more like backpack one (My last backpack was Nepal 15D last year). Yup, gonna skip those places u mentioned and probably will go ahead with the ones that u recommended. I have few questions:-Can refer to my suggested itinerary (day 4,5,6) http://gaeria84.blogspot.com/2015/03/krabi...tinerary-7.html If you don't like temples/history, can skip siam niramit, wat chalong, big buddha hill Go for the beaches, recommended beaches: kata noi, karon, naiharn Other must see places: phromthep cape, karon viewpoint Can take a day trip to phi phi island, phang-nga bay, raya island or similan For night time fun, can head out to soi bangla, or see shows like simon cabaret or phuket fantasea 1) It is safe renting scooter, in term of stolen vehicle cases etc? And I presume international license not required right? 2) Looking at your itinerary, is it possible work out Day 3 - Sounds good with beaches so on (But wanted to do it in one-day only) 3) Currently working out accommodation via Agoda/Booking - Thinking to stay in two hotels so wont feel so bore (What's your opinion? Patong and Kata area?) This post has been edited by WallChecker: Aug 2 2015, 02:32 AM |

Nope, not really required, but always good to have in case of complications1) It is safe renting scooter, in term of stolen vehicle cases etc? Anyways, Kata beach is not that far off from Patong, it's only 20-30 minutes by motorcycle. |

we want a package tour which does not include the provision of the hotel (we still want a package which provides a transportation service from the hotel to the tour destination). Thanks. |

Went in late Aug, early Sept...
Had a little rain (none were heavy thunderstorms) and was lucky that my most of my days were sunny, especially my island tour... I took this tour Maya Bay- Loh Samah Bay - Phi Leh Cove - Viking Cove - Monkey Beach - Phi Phi Don - Khai Island You guys should take it from PHUKET TROPICAL tours, they're the actual ones bringing you around... Unfortunately, I purchased mine via some agent and paid 1,500 THB per person (not sure if I overpaid) Overall, the tour was quite good, islands were amazing (esp. Maya Bay & Khai Island)... Snorkeling was included and the tour guide (who calls himself Pancake) served us free flow of fruits & drinks while we chill out at Khai Island... Totally recommended, but don't pay >1,500 THB for it, maybe try 1,100? Strongly suggest not to buy the incredibly overpriced food/drinks at Khai island... The labeling of prices is incredibly misleading and you WILL feel ripped off Remember to always ask the tour guide which are the popular/hot spots while snorkeling or island sight-seeing This post has been edited by ysc: Sep 8 2015, 10:51 PM |

Hi all, I'm trying to decide my holiday destination and don't plan to spend too much. Also I will be going alone on this trip. I am a male, 24, but still am a bit worried about safety and getting conned. I know it's common everywhere but just want to reduce the odds.
Is phuket a relatively safe place to visit? Or would you have any better cheap destinations to visit where I don't have to worry too much? I'm looking forward to enjoy outgoing activities, but all by myself though. Trying to find the best possible destination. Sorry to sound a bit sissy, but first time will be all alone in a country. Please help! Thanks |

Hi,
Any one got recent contact for Phi Phi island tour? I have found this operator online: http://www.phukettoursdirect.com/phi-phi-islands-tours.html They charge 1400 baht for the following tour. Is it reasonable? Phi Phi Leh Island - Maya Bay -Loh Samah Bay - Pileh Lagoon - Viking Cave - Phi Phi Don Island - Monkey Beach - Khai Nok Island And I was told that there is a 400 baht/person national park fee to visit Maya bay. Is this a norm? Thanks in advance. |

It was my second time to visit Phuket. I had visited a newly open Island named Maiton island. It was beautiful and less-crowded.
Simon Cabaret Show is recommended. I got the cheapest prices from this Malaysia Company based in Phuket named Pavilion Worldwide. QUOTE(xavi5567 @ Jul 30 2016, 12:24 AM) Good is kinda relative. Depends on what you want in the end. It's monsoon around that time, which means a lot of rain, which means less tourists, lower prices. That being said, having traveled during monsoon, it doesn't rain all day, so there's plenty of sun to go around on some days. The drive is an hour long to the jetty and from jetty it's 2-3 hours away. But the island tour is good. Paid 1000 baht previously. |

Right now I see options for : Phi phi Island Day Trip Similan Island Day Trip Surin Island Day Trip Raya Island But I only have 3 days to have day trips and 1 day must include phi phi as my friends have never been. So i am down to choosing another two. Which do you guys recommend? |

Been thinking about banyan tree or anantara phuket. Any advise? Is it worth the extra money? Or any other honeymoon resorts to recommend? |

Hi guys,
I'm planning for 3 days trip to Phuket this coming Nov. Saw one of the recommended activity is the Flying Hanuman in Kathu. Anyone has any experience to share for this , especially those who already tried Skytrek in Shah Alam/Langkawi? Thanks! |

Hello guys, I am going to Phuket soon 2017 March with 5 friends....should I book a tour guide earlier or just book when I get there? (including the place I'm planning to go)
Cause my previous experience at Krabi is the online one expensive like hell and once we got to hotel nearby area, we see those package and prices they offer are so damm cheap. I'd also plan my itinerary already.... |
