When I was there for 3 days I didn't get stopped. Even the Mat Sallehs didn't wear helmets but the police turned a blind eye on them.

However, I still will not recommend you to rent a bike if you don't have a license. If you're involved in accidents you'll be in deep trouble (including those with license but without IDP).

Hi guys, sorry if this been asked before. (I did try searching)

I and my friend (2 person total) going to phuket end of this October/ early Nov and decided to visit phi phi for 2 days before going to Krabi and back to Malaysia by land.

Should I gamble and walk in on phi phi hotels? Or book now?

I'm a budget traveler and 1st time in phi phi. I prefer to stay in central or near Tom Sai for convenience (everything, food, shops, service).

If you're concerned about this you can book through online portals for properties with 24 hour notices for cancellation.

Yes. Do get one before going Phuket. I know we wouldn't need to get the IDP for Thailand but it's a different story when you're there. I have the ticket issued this year with me for driving in Thailand without IDP.

Yes around 10-20 minutes from JPJ. Bring along two copies of your passport sized photographs.
RM 150 for one year.

180 baht one way with the van. But it will stop by a tourist agency for 10-15 minutes before continuing with the journey to Patong. Direct drop in front of your hotel lobby.

Check out SPG Le Meridien. I think they offer private beach dining. But it won't be nearby Patong.

You can actually visit the Pattaya tourist police station and ask them to check for you.
My friend did that and void the ticket but it's such a hassle.

Rainy season but that also means tour prices are low compared to November - end January (High peak season)

Can check with your hotel as some provide private car rental. Price range from 1200b per day for a Vios. Some will ask for passport deposit but insist on cash deposit. If they can't do that, walk away and find another car rental providers. There are many in Patong area.

Make sure you have IDP too.

Is the tourist agency shady or legit? Usually do they offer reasonable price for island visit/hopping?

Also which is cheaper, Grab or taxi?

Thanks
