Hey man

Just came back from Phuket yesterday, I can confirm that's a hoax as I walked in with no THB and only changed my currency once I'd gotten to Patong.

Cheers!

Is it better to rent car online in advance or rent it at the airport? Which 1 gives better rates?

I find renting from the hotel is the cheapest. Rate I've come across is 1000baht/day for a Vios.
And make sure you have IDP. It's only RM 150 to save the hassle of roadblock and insurance claim so it's worth it.

Grab is terribly expensive to use. You need to get a taxi , costs between 800-1000 baht to get to Patong.

I walked (great cardio) , or you can use the tuk tuk, but for longer distances , taxis are readily available.

You can sign up for the daily tour services. When you reach your hotel, check with the receptionist.
When I was there I just rented a bike and travel around Phuket, Patong - Promthep Cape - Phuket Zoo - Rang Hill - Aquarium.

Bike can get for RM 20/day and always go for those that accept cash deposit rather than leaving your passport behind.

Riding bike is quite fun but it really depends on the weather.

Is the authority quite strict nowadays? Since I don't have motorbike license.

When I was there for 3 days I didn't get stopped. Even the Mat Sallehs didn't wear helmets but the police turned a blind eye on them.

However, I still will not recommend you to rent a bike if you don't have a license. If you're involved in accidents you'll be in deep trouble (including those with license but without IDP).

Hi guys, sorry if this been asked before. (I did try searching)

I and my friend (2 person total) going to phuket end of this October/ early Nov and decided to visit phi phi for 2 days before going to Krabi and back to Malaysia by land.

Should I gamble and walk in on phi phi hotels? Or book now?

I'm a budget traveler and 1st time in phi phi. I prefer to stay in central or near Tom Sai for convenience (everything, food, shops, service).
