Push ads..?

Install AddsOn detector app from market.
Let that app scan all your apps and you'll find which app responsible on bring in that push ads. Either freeze or remove that app.

Authentication problem (password) or perhaps it's the router running at 5GHz which somehow the Note 2 cannot connect.

Did you try delete/forget the wifi network and enter the password again? Its happen sometimes to me.

Errr, try the *#0011# code on his phone first? For the router you need to login to it and change some setting. But has he used wifi before? I recall you had some initial trouble with your wifi as well right?

Ur uncle's unit got the same issue as mine. Try these options:

1) Go to your router settings and change your bandwidth to 2.4ghz. To do that, type 192.168.1.1 on your web browser. Pass and ID by default will be admin/admin then look for the setting.

note: The tutorial is changing it to 5ghz. For your case, you need to change it to 2.4ghz. Also, all routers got different settings. This is just an idea of it.

2) Forget the Wifi SSID that you're currently authenticating with. Then turn off your phone's wifi and then restart your phone and try again.

Note: If it still doesn't work, get to SC at Federal Highway.

Warning: Basically they will restore firmware for you and then ask u to get home and try. Instead of going home to try, u ask  them to try on the spot so you don't have to waste your time to go back there again. From my experience, most probably your uncle got a defect motherboard. It'll takes up to 3 working days to fix it but with the efficiency of Samsung Federal Branch, I got back mine within 2 working days.

How about you try this.. This solution works if ur internet connection always drops..
Dial *#0011#. Then click on the right hand side menu button and click on wifi option. Then turn off power saving for wifi..

but i updates the firmware months ago but it only happened now..
once wifi is turn on...100% freeze within minutes or seconds.

Try a factory reset?

been using half a year with the same wifi but nothing wrong.
i tried the 0011 thing but didnt work.
my wifi instead of dropping. it freeze my phone. been rebooting my phone for several times before i found out the main culprit is the wifi..so i turn it off. my phone is normal..

any ideas?

and i read in youtube loads of people factory reset and doesnt help too.
