ipod nano start up

when u guys start up ur ipod nano....does it immediately come into the OS or does it like do a boot up with the black screen with the apple in d middle first??
i was just wondering...because my ipod sometimes goes directly into the OS....but if i dont use it for like a day...then it will start up with the boot screen first

actually.. do u guys happen to know how to "off" the ipod.. i mean else from putting it on standby by pressing pause button more than 3 secs...
do we have to wait for it to hibernate for 14 hrs to be "off" ?

I dont get it
I have the same 'thing' with my iPod Video. On my 4G , it does not reboot at all , it would be just 'fine'...
