Bravo! Very commendable effort indeed! Thanks for your TOP TEN Quad-core value-for-money China phones threads. These threads will see much interest in the coming days ahead.

PS. You forgot to add in "Quad-Core" Android phones in your titles in both your threads because your phones are really all about the eye-catching, latest quad core phones, not the run-of-the-mill dual core phones.

Excellent work indeed Cranky.

It will be great if you can also tell us where we can get these (atleast for those available models).

The price seems to be unbelievable and I'm sure it will be hiked up here smile.gif

Brand new Verne V5 has been leaked with specs! From the front, the Verne looks remarkably like the Xiaomi Mi2. The rear however, tells a whole different story.

SPECS

Android 4.2.1
MT6589 1.2GHz
5-inch IPS OGS 720P
1GB RAM + 4GB ROM which can be expended by 32GB MicroSD
8MP rear + 1.3MP front camera
141.8 x 72.8 x 9.2mm, 175g, 2400mAh
3G WCDMA 850MHz/900MHz/1,900MHz/2,100MHz HSPA+ 42Mbps
GSM 850MHz/900MHz/1,800MHz/1,900MHz

PRICE: $128= RM350-400

At first glance, it seems pretty nice. But most of us have been spoiled badly by the Xiaocai G6, which boasts amazing specs at an extremely low price, so which would you pick?

The X1 will officially go on sale in China from April 20th with a very compeittive price of just $128! The 4.5-inch phone packs a 720P display, 1GB RAM, and 8 mega-pixel rear camera. It really is a great bargain.

After three days of work, it's finally done! Cheers! Anyway, there still isn't much to discuss yet, so I want to ask you bros about something else. Would you guys like a top 10 Android tablets from CHina thread? I feel rather interested to make one, seeing as how many interesting tablets have been released. That's all from me for now, will update you guys soon!

Tadahhh!!!! Gizchina have managed to get some leaked pictures of the Xiaocai G6, and I like what I see! The front has no air gaps, which is proof that Xiaocai are using OGS technology, and it looks really nice considering it's price!

An interesting rumor has surfaced that the Xiaocai G6 MIGHT BE THE FIRST PHONE TO BE ABLE TO DUAL BOOT! What do you guys think about this feature?

That means it can have 2 Operating systems installed on it, and you can change which system you want to use everytime you turn on the phone. You can experiment on trying to get a new Custom ROM on your phone while still keeping your stock Android on it.

No worries. IPS OGS is the type of display panel used on a smartphone. IPS (In-planse switching) is a technology used for liquid crystal displays (LCDs) to improve responsiveness, viewing angles and colour reproduction.

OGS (One Glass Solution) is another technology used by smartphones to reduces the thickness the glass protecting the display, and it also brings the display closer to the surface, similar to Sony's No Air Gaps display.

Gorilla Glass is the protective barrier between the display panel and your finger, and is very tough. Gorilla Glass is usually the main choice for most high-end smartphones, but it's competitors like Dragontrail and they're waterproof panel are also very usable. Most phones without Gorilla Glass or any other protective glass usually are prone to scratches and what not.

Screen protector is better, since if it scratches, still can change it. If you manage to scratch Gorilla Glass, it's going to be there forever.

Well, seems like the listed model and the pricing is un-realistic. My friend in China now can't get any of the mentioned model available except for the Xiaochai G6, but only through only purchase and the pricing also RMB999 (as per the earlier forumer claim), not RM350 as claimed earlier.

Actually I've sent this top 10 list to my friend in China now, but he checked with some of the local store there and can't find any model offer. Think most of it not really launch yet, but some brand name like Xiaochai also not yet heard by local blink.gif

Umi are just starting out in India. As for now, the most popular brands there are Samsung and Micromax, which shares models with Ninetology.

ohh u remind me one think, i should buy newman from china.

previously i always compare local selling price newman n2 rm1088 to latest mtk6589 smartphone china price (rmb899-1499) ~rm450-rm750 and then set back.

now think back, as most new mtk6589 phone you buy locally price will be also rm300 added from priginal price, it does not worth also as the price touching rm1000 just for this less powerful cpu.

but when compare newmean n2 china price with current mtk6589 china price, it seem the gap very close and n2 out-performed mtk6589...

hmm....cross finger tongue.gif

when i say newman n2 use mtk6589 hmm.gif

that say if n2 and other mtk6589 phone buy direct from china, mtk6589 phone cant have any advantages at all in term of price and performance. if buy at local, same thing since both are typically added rm300 from original price blush.gif and supposely mtk6589 phone should gain advantage due to it cheaper price probably at rmb999 (rm500) but now it is approximately touching rm1000 or even higher at newly launch reason doh.gif

hehe seriously, when the phone just rm500-600, i still can afford and taken risk to buy direct from china, if rosak in few month throw it and never buy china phone.

but as the price touching rm1000 regardless buy in msia or direct from china, that just big money to me sweat.gif without local warranty coverage is really bad when buy rm1000 phone although the spec is so good sad.gif

My thoughts exactly. Other than its price, another issue that concerns me is the warranty. That's why I'm checking out the mid-range phones here. Don't think I can get quality phones at these prices if I were to go for mainstream ones.

100% agree with you. If local ASUS warranty is already BAD, what can we expect from the words of mouth of sellers who said "if anything you just send it to me and I will handle it from there".

Wah nice finally a place where people discuss china phones

I've been looking at them, particularly the mtk6589 specced ones that seem quite good for the price

i have a few concerns before I make a purchase thuogh

my main concern is battery life:
1) I've seen the pirated china li-on batteries for years, and they have always performed shoddily (e.g. a pirated psp battery claiming 3200mAh actually performs maciam 1800mAh only). are these brands' batteries reliable or not? I don't want to buy a phone that will run out of charge every 2-3 hours on standby
2) Any of these phones share the same battery specs as a big-brand phone battery? Means, any of these phones allow me to buy an original (e.g.) samsung note 2 batt and use it in the included battery's place?

Then reliability:
3) Will spoil easily or not? These brands, THL, Chilli, Xiaocai, so far production QC can trust? If spoil have to ship back... headache and waste money shipping
4) any alternative warranty options? E.g. any agent that resells these and bears their own warranty? I'm around the JB area
5) will explode or not? I treasure my bola.

i'm looking for a decent phone no more than RM 700, nak use for quite a while at work, i just want reliability and good looks nia. so don't want too big (pocket phone for work), maybe 4.5-5" display enough already. Was searching for mtk6589 on aliexpress, so was looking at THL W8, lenovo a820, amoi n828.

but dunno the brands la and how they perform, so not sure which to pick.

sorry for the questions, i've never used chinese brands before, so i'm quite noob here biggrin.gif

No.1- That rarely happens nowadays. The only smartphones with fake baterries now are super cheap clones. Even high end clones have real batteries now.

No.2- Not sure.

No.3- If you get one from the brands you mentioned, then you'll be fine.

No.4- There's Luna121245, and if you want, you can also check my store in my siggy.

No.5- Unless you use it while charging when the battery is pregnant, then no.

yea that does sound like a plan

is the goophone reliable? how many have you sold? what's the longest that anyone has used it, has it been problematic so far?

i'm around JB there, how do i get from u? extra postage how much?

also what are your warranty conditions?

edit: wait, the goophone i9 is 5.7 inches? i think that's a bit too big for my preference (i'll be doing an office job soon, wearing tailored-fit pants, don't think a 5.7 inch phone will look nice, or maybe even survive, being squeezed in my pant pocket

why, is this phone particularly good?

It's not particlarly an amazing phone, but it's a really good value for money. It is a huge phone though, so I can totally understand why some people just can't use it. You should PM me all your preferred specs and budget.

Guess you need to put google apps. China phones usually don't have gapps.

You need to root first iinm.

Here are pics of my phone :

Only the picture of the phone wasn't captured by Bedove Hy5001's camera ...

Received mine liao : So far so good, problem only is :
i) Only got power button to unlock, no side button
ii) When charging , hold and press the screen will make the screen go up and down ( so cannot play games that need you to hold on screen )
iii) Camera is popping out of the body, so when put on table need to put it the other way ( got leather case btw )

Pros :
i) Cheap price tag for a quad core phone
ii) 13 MP rear camera, 8MP front camera
iii) pre-installed APK install assistant ( for all your pirated games need [ though i dont support this ])
iv) Looks awesome !

Cons :
i) It's from china, so if spoilt want to claim warranty will be problematic
ii) Only got power button to unlock, no side button
iii) When charging , hold and press the screen sometimes will make the screen go up and down ( so cannot play games that need you to hold on screen )
iv) Camera is popping out of the body, so when put on table need to put it the other way ( got leather case btw )

So far I give it a 8/10

Display looks awesome !!! When it first arrived there were few pixels that displayed abit more brighter than others, but i think it's fixed now... Viewing angle not bad... maybe around 75 degrees not as good as oppo find 5 ( obviously ).

It's smooth but when it's charging the touch is abit weird... when you press and hold, the screen will shake up and down ... ( some times ) But overall a good phone.. especially for the Rm6xx price tag haha

Should add in the Xperia C. Dual sim, quad core, and selling for 1800 RMB - about RM900.
Not to mention, it has a 5 inch screen at about 220ppi.
However I find the screen rubbish. It's extremely pale. If u find the Xperia Z's screen a disappointment, this is 5 times worse. Sony Bravia engine 2 is nothing but a marketing gimmick.
