Hi Xavier,

Oceanic servers are based in US for now. Ping will definitely be ~200ms on average. The main point of having a "Oceanic" tag is so that new players would know where to make their characters in order to play with people within the same timezone.

About the "unofficial" Oceanic PvP server - Widow. This server was originally designated as "Oceanic PvP" - but then later Carbine says that based on Beta Results there would be low pop in an Oceanic PvP server and changed it back to a normal US server. Though alot of us objected this saying that beta results are inaccurate, Carbine went ahead and removed the Oceanic "tag" for Widow. One of the big aussie guilds called for a "Round Table" meeting of all the guild leaders to discuss on this item. The end result was... all the oceanic guilds agreed to roll on Widow and make it the unofficial oceanic pvp server... so there will not be population deficiency.

Malaysian/Singaporean communities that we know from this forum are Conclave at Exile side and TRE at Dominion side.

TRE recruitment page is at: http://www.gameredge.org/forum/index.php?topic=483.0

Btw, CREDD for 1 month subscription is only 50+ gold at widow at the moment. =P

That is like... 3-4 hours of farming for 1 month's subscription

Cheers,

so how is this game so far?.. cousin asking me to play

any pros and cons? compared to lets say wow?
*
I would say WOW is the best comparison for this game.
I must say after trying so many games, it has been awhile since an mmo has managed to impress me.

Pros:
- The game is very content rich. I would say more things than WoW, though not as big yet.
- The game is fast paced with a lot of new mechanics - free form targeting, action rpg gameplay, telegraphs, MoO, etc.
- People respect 5-man dungeons, you really need teamwork. You actually feel a sense of accomplishment upon completion of something. Good players will really stand out. Bad players will really get punished.
- Supports Addons - DPS Meters, Grid, EPGP, etc.
- Wildstar presently has 2 raids - 20man and 40man raids.
- The PVP is good and they have Warplots.

Cons:
- The game is hard. For new gamers that has never touched a full scale MMO before - i suggest they start by playing WoW before upgrading to Wildstar.
- Not for everybody. Not only is the game hard, it has quite a steep learning curve - Alot of people will give up during the leveling process, while some will give up when they reach 5-man veteran dungeons. Not everybody will be able to raid.
- The story/lore doesn't really entice or engage you very well. The main story will starts at level 35 (Drusera chain)
- Still some class balancing to be done.
- The default UI is not quite polished yet. You need to learn to use addons via curse.

I would say, if you are a veteran gamer that has played a full scale mmo like WoW - try Wildstar.
If you are a new gamer, start with something easier - like WoW.

Cheers,

I am tempted to get this game...but I am wondering the cost to maintain subscription...

Let say I were to buy the game through Seagm, and extend my sub through paying with ingame currency through the gold I buy from seagm, how much per month are we looking at? Thanks.

I played the 7 days free trial and find that game is really something.

The value of gold/platinum varies from server to server. If you are avtively playing the game, gold/platinum should not really be an issue.

How it works is, theres a currency called CREDD that can be used to extend the sub. CREDD can be bought with ingame gold or via cash (abt usd14.90 per CREDD)

Within month 1 of playing the game, I had enough CREDD to extend for 6 months without using any cash at all.

Population in Widow for our timezone seems to be taking a hit.... alot of players finding the game too hard.... have quit... while some have transferred to other servers. As I mentioned earlier, the game is actually more targeted at veteran mmo players.

Alot of new mmo players will either quit during the leveling phase or give up during the dungeon attunement phase. Players generally become more stable when they start raiding.

Carbine is talking about merging servers. Let's see when this will take effect.

TRE has a progressive 20-man raid running Genetic Archives on Wednesdays -Thursdays - Saturdays on GMT+8 timezone (Malaysian/Singapore/Indo/Thai/HongKong/Perth timezones) from 9PM to 12AM to cater for working adults. We are rotating about 30 attuned raiders at the moment and is looking to start our Team Two very soon.

We are looking for more players to fill our Team Two where many new players are getting attuned by the week and many more are still leveling up. For WoW classic lovers - Remember that the real Wildstar End Game PvE is about 40-man Raids.

However, Carbine has not done any publicity in our region, while many many APAC players have not even heard of Wildstar are slowly hearing about it and trying out the game.

Let's remember that the game is only 2+ months old, and there is room for improvement. Even WoW took awhile to gain momentum and publicity during its classic days. Of course Blizzard had the advantage of leveraging on Warcraft brand name. Today Wildstar has to compete with WoW and many other big titles - but I'm confident that there will be many that will love the game and see its potential.
