I've been seeing quite a few newbies using the 1 click method to root, flash & etc2 modding.
I highly suggest you guys to learn the basic method to install adb & some of it's commands. It'll be useful in case your devices bricked.
It's fairly easy to repair software brick with android devices (provided you have unlocked bootloader of course).

This. Tools are made for our conveniences, not for us to completely skip the basics which might even help us in the future.
*
I'll give you 1 case.
1 of my friend bought Nexus 4 around same time as me.That time Nexus 4 shipped with Android 4.2.Majority of the rooting tools were not updated to 4.2.1.So when my friend updated his Nexus 4 he cannot unlock & root because he had to wait for the tools to be updated to support latest version of Android even though the rooting/flashing method remains the same.

Honestly for me the tools like "Nexus 4 All in 1 Toolkit" contains too much buttons & whatnot which confuse me sometimes.
I rather type words in command prompt than click 10 buttons that I'm not exactly sure what it'll do.

QUOTE(billy_overheat @ Mar 29 2013, 12:49 PM)
It takes time to understand and learn.

Anyway I prefer to do things by myself. laugh.gif so needless for me to get it.
*
If you are the person who do around 5 tasks with your phone before you go to bed & after you wake up I suggest you to use Tasker.

Anyone know any CM10.1 theme which use the default AOSP style but have orange icons?

Speaking of MTP, I really hate this transfer method.
Unreliable because sometimes some files won't be shown in windows explorer & file won't be copied properly.

True that. I really wish there was some sort of mod that'll enable normal USB transfer. It's slow and unreliable. ugh.
*
Need ro add some function is kernel & os I think. Usually developers will follow Google's lead. Since Google prefers MTP as the only transfer protocol I guess things won't change in short time.

QUOTE(olygopoly @ Mar 29 2013, 03:41 PM)
well this is the only method i usually transfer my file thru cable to the phone. do we have any other way beside MTP via cable ?
*
Adb is the most reliable transfer method.

You glass + digitizer? Or just glass
*
Should be both.To separate glass & digitizer it'll take longer than 15 minutes (if it's possible)

The luck still with you. Nexus 4 just to fragile. Be careful.

Front & back glass. What do you expect? biggrin.gif
I'm using ringke fusion case.Aside from infinite number of fingerprints I think the case can protect my phone in minor accident.

QUOTE(Nexus4Newbie @ Apr 3 2013, 03:42 PM)
This doesn't seem to be on the first page so I'll ask here:

Just cracked my Nexus 4 screen, making the bottom half of the screen unusable and essentially bricking the phone since I have a pin lock enabled.

Digi, like most telcos, has godawful after-sales service and couldn't/wouldn't do anything for me. Even gave me the contact of someone who doesn't supply LG phones...

I'd rather not have to go to the LG service center in Kelana Jaya and wait 1 week or so to get the phone fixed. After some googling, I may have a digitiser problem in addition an ugly crack across my screen, but I'm willing to pay for that to be remedied.

Is there any way to get this fixed quickly: reputable merchants/repair technicians that I can contact that will service the Nexus 4 and stock parts?
*
Go to LG SC.1 of the member here changed new screen for RM350.

QUOTE(olygopoly @ Apr 3 2013, 04:01 PM)
Just realize there is AOSP & AOKP. thought only got AOKP
*
AOSP -> Android Open Source Project
Stock Google & CM based on this code. There are several more ROMs based on this code.Usually ROM based on AOSP will be called stock/clean Android.

AOKP -> Android Open Kang Project
It's based on AOKP but with multiple functions addition by it's developers.Compared to CM they support much less devices.

Regarding the extra instruction for Krait SOC, I believe the custom instructions design started by Apple with their A5 SOC.Qualcomn more or less used the similar implementation.Basically what Qualcolmn & Apple did was add some of the ARM A15 instructions in their own ARM 9 based SOC.

Is there any screen protector which can reduce the amount of fingerprint?
Even with the bare glass I can still a lot of fingerprints.

Hi Billy,

Yes it will be available around June and we have tested it with many thick cases so it will work while your phone is in the Superleggera case.

Thanks,

Looks interesting. Might wanna get one to play with if can get locally...
YES! Definitely bro. Count me in please.....
Root it and can use volume rocker as well to wake the phone.
Somehow I do feel reasonable pricing.
Also 150 for back glass. Almost same price as I phone's.
Look at the box. Local set should have a "MY" on the white tag sticker.
*
RM150 for back glass? Uuhhh....
I think there are some online sellers who are selling metal cover replacement for Nexus 4 in case any users broke their glass back cover & wanted cheaper replacement.

QUOTE(Xirality @ Apr 4 2013, 10:17 PM)
I think one alternative is call Touch Control, can use certain guesture to "wake" it
True man, some of my friend also say like that. Use iPhone but scare home button break, insist to use that "circle" thingy to press. I used iPhone since 3GS, never had a problem with home button lol
*
Nokia N9's gesture is the best.Double tap to wake the phone. No need to press any button whatsover.
I hope Google will adopt more gesture based functions in Android 5.0

Well my sisters iPhone4 home button went kaput in 1 1/2 year.Compare with that my S2 button last longer that without any sign of problem till the time I sold it.
iPhone's home button quality is just crap.I think Apple changed the design a bit with iPhone5 so it could be better.

Go to zip directory if you want to flash using recovery.

Did you try to switch your Google Account's country to US (Not Google Plus).

Not sure cause mine still works so far, even after I cleared cache of Google Play Services, Google Play Store, Google Contact Sync (due to the previous weird issue I faced).

p/s: I choose T-Mobile because it's similar with U-Mobile, only one difference in letters tongue.gif

Can you try buying any book? If you made successful purchase please post here.

It's not the fastest but it's feature rich compared to other mobile browser.
Chrome comes handy if you have multiple devices.

Hi, everyone, i just got myself a Nexus 4 today.
want to ask, if i want to mod it, is it first i have to install ADB > Bootloader > CWM > Root ?
*
So your flow of rooting is correct.
First you need install latest ADB because Android 4.2.2 comes with new security function where the device will ask to confirm RSA key when adb/fastboot is initiated.
http://www.talkandroid.com/guides/unlockin...ot-the-nexus-4/
I think the guide in this website is quite clear. If you have any question on setting adb or rooting post here.

Anyone can help me with this? can I claim warranty for this? where to RMA it? bought it from digi store. thanks
*
I don't have this problem but you can always send you phone back to LG SC. From what I've been hearing here LG SC's service is quite good.

Easy way -> OTA Update.Open Device Info from setting & check for update.
Harder way -> Download Mako (Nexus 4) Android 4.2.2 image from google developer site & flash with adb tool.

Maybe you should try to contact the SC at KL & ask whether you can courier the phone for service.
Some SC accept it.

so only ip5 same band is it?

as maxis already rolled out lte for ip5 user...so envy with the speed
*
For me I rather the telcos increase the data limit & going for the higher speed.
I'm using 2GB DiGi data plan.It went *poof* in 20 days.Need to wait around 10 days to get un-throttle.
Point is HSPDA/HSPDA+ speed are decent but out telco put high price o data plan. They should consider to revamp the price.

i did sent in my wall charger for warranty. took 1 week to have the stock in for replacement.
He told me that he has managed to changed several n4 screens before and I guess that yours is one of them?
*
Seriously?
Do LG try to repair wall chargers? Official wall charger is just a cheap stuff without microusb cable. Can't they provide 1-1 replacement?Cheap LG doh.gif

Nexus 4 using bottom to top like iPhone 4/4S but easier to dismantle compared to iPhones.
Replacing the screen shouldn't be hard.
