Same problem, and I got my Wii U yesterday just for MH.
Well it depends how much you love MH.
For me it's that fun to play with everyone else and i'm very lazy to go to gathering so the best option for me is to get a Wii U.
MH3U looks really nice on Wii U and if you are into multiplayer, why not

I considered getting a Wii U because I haven't bought the previous Wii before, going to play every awesome Wii games in the future.
Hopefully can find cheap used Wii games like Super Mario Galaxy 2, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword,Super Smash Bros. Brawl and others.

On 3DS I can't seems to use the 3D very well. So hard to make it just right.
Everything I move a bit i'll see there is 2 of me in the screen lol.
I always turn it off, tried a lot of time cannot get it to work well.
Other games is fine though for me.
