Haha, I would never abandon this thread. Not for too long at least. I'll probably update every 6-7 months from now on. I've also started a blog now, which is where I will be most of the time.

As for best smartphone is RM500-600 bracket, I would recommend the iOcean X7 HD from Antelife.com. Costs $157, which is approximately RM522, and the remaining money should be enough for DHL or some other paid shipping. I'll put a link below.

Looks like Malaysia is set to welcome another smartphone player. Unsurprisingly, it is another Chinese smartphone manufacturer. After Huawei and Lenovo making their name here in the Malaysian mobile industry, Oppo is set to mark its official arrival into Malaysia next week – and it’s bringing along quite an interesting smartphone to kick things off.

Oppo will be launching its highly interesting smartphone, the Oppo N1, in Malaysia next week. According to the media invitation, Oppo Electronics CEO William Fang will also be present to announce the company’s products. For now, it is only confirmed that the N1 will be launched here, while the company’s other products, such as the Find 5 – one of the world’s first 5-inch Full HD smartphones – may also make an appearance next week.

The Oppo N1 is the world’s first rotating camera smartphone announced in September last year, featuring a 13MP camera sensor that can be swivelled from the back to the front of the device. The sensor itself is a f2.0 13MP sensor with six-element lens. Apart from that, the N1 is a top-tier phablet with a 5.9-inch Full HD IPS screen and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 1.7GHz quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM. Find out more about the Oppo N1 here.

10 LTE smartphone available selling in Malaysia but not made in china . In case you want to know !! including those latest like HTC One, Iphone 5S, Samsung galaxy S4, Asus padhone and many more ... Latest LTE smartphone

The cheapest thing there costs RM1600. That's nowhere near comparable to any octa core MTK phone that costs less than RM1200, LTE or no LTE.

Probably won't be able to get one to soon, budget constraints. sweat.gif

I may switch to Oppo once the Find 7 lands here though.

I don't mind 2K screen at all. It'll be great walking around with 500+ ppi in my pocket. With my trusty powerbank, of course.

I think zte grand s2 should be in the list by providing a super affordable price for snapdragon 801 with high stock availability
*
I think you're right. I'm dividing this thing into categories, perhaps most generally available Chinese Snapdragon 801 phone?

Means that, there will be soon the market flood with a lot of Clone or low-end/mid tier of MTK chipset Android smartphone running KitKat.

The question is whether that is good or bad.
