Hey guys, anyone know where I can get the Xperia nfc tags? I've checked quite a number of places and they don't have it. The ones that do are selling for RM40 for 2. Is that normal price? (Sony Centre Ikano).

Google in garage sales lowyat mobilephones section.
There are few sellers
About rm4-7 per piece

Guys, what's the difference with a the sony NFC tag? I thought an nfc tag is just...well a tag. There's the re-writable one and a single use one right?

Why is the Sony tag so expensive?

Some say the LRT coin is also NFC. dunno works or not hmm.gif

Not sure where I read it, but yes, it works apparently - only as a one time use thingy. I remembered the person saying that it can't be reprogrammed.

The article also said that you could use your TnG card. So it'd be easy to set your phone to "car mode" I'd imagine.

Yeah, it works. Been using Putra LRT coins as my NFC tags since Xperia S. lol. Need to use NFC ReTag app to assign taks/event.
*
Was it your article by any chance? I have no recollection of where I read it. Could be in LYN sweat.gif

I know this is going a bit OT, but when using the other "standard" NFC tag, would it require this ReTag app to re-assign or...

Not too sure how this works and I just flipped my lazy switch and hope to be spoon fed tongue.gif

I did post about the LRT coins as NFC tags long time ago when Xperia S first came out. Maybe you read it from XPS thread.

The LRT coins is write-protected, so have to use NFC ReTag app to assign task/event. The app detects the coin ID, and execute all task/event assigned to this ID.

Normal NFC tag no need to use this app coz it's rewritable.

I see. Must've been your post then. Or someone consolidated all posts regarding NFC and posted it elsewhere laugh.gif

Very very informative. Thanks man smile.gif

*being spoon fed every once in a while isn't too bad tongue.gif*

Just a thought - maybe could arrange the owner's list by colour? That way it'll be easier to know what's the most/least popular colour.

Since a Ctrl+F isn't an accurate representation. Just a suggestion from a fence-sitter laugh.gif

Question to anyone that was previously an iPhone user:

Does the inline remote work for anything other than the iPhone? I tried using mine on an HTC...didn't work.

Would be nice if I could use my current set of in-ears (with all the functions - volume and ans/end call) should I jump ship.

Anyone kind enough to try this out? Google wasn't too helpful unfortunately sweat.gif

EDIT: Answered my own question. All my years in uni should have made me better at searching for info. I bring disgrace upon myself laugh.gif

Anyways, for those interested check this and this out. Second one requires some DIY for those modders out there.

Of course, this could be solved by using a bluetooth set that allows your own set of buds...if you're willing to sacrifice SQ.

Guys any idea on how to register my warranty? Is it necessary? I've tried the link at the first page. But the serial number it want is only 7 digit and I can't find it on my box. The Serial number on my box is a combination of alphabets and number.
*
Have you tried the bottom of your phone?

EDIT:

according to jeff10012003

yours is Z or ZL?
The Serial Number for Z is just at the bottom of the phone..

Guys, can we not be like some of the people over at the One thread? Try googling or the search function. It helps. Seriously.

At least the question asked this time isn't something stupid that could be easily googled (No offense philip42 - I think your question is still valid). It's just that it gets bloody annoying to catch up on the thread when you repeatedly read the same thing paraphrased several different ways.

The maximum number I can type in that box is only  7 digits. I've tried the number in my warranty card. But my model number is incorrect although I inserted c6603 lol.

I think this question was asked before - I can't seem to recall what the solution was though. Might wanna check that thread out - I'll update this post if I find it smile.gif

NBTD laugh.gif

EDIT: I think better to wait for someone that's done this before sweat.gif

All the best man!

Dilemma in choosing iPhone 5 or Xperia Z. Anyone in the same situation before? Please share your view.  icon_rolleyes.gif

I notice a few people have answered based on hardware - here's my take based on software. If you're a user that won't customise the phone that much, then I honestly would recommend the iPhone. iOS works brilliantly out of the box and it simplifies everything. In that sense, it's very user friendly.

However, if you're the sort that like to fiddle with the phone and customise it to your liking, then the iPhone is the last thing you should put on your list. An iPhone without jailbreak is like using a phone on training wheels. Your ability to make the phone "yours" is severely limited by apple. The reason why the iPhone works so well to most people is because it is configured to work most efficiently as how Apple has set it. Changing it, makes your phone...not very good. I use the iPhone 4 currently with an insane amount of customisation. My phone is also extremely unstable. It crashes a LOT.

Due to this reason, I'm jumping ship to the android bandwagon. I want my phone to look and operate like how I want it to. Not how the manufacturers want it to. Heck, it's my bloody phone.

TL;DR
I will use my phone stock with little to no customisation - get iPhone 5
I like to fiddle around with how my phone appears and operate - get android

On a different note:

Managed to convince a friend to get the Z laugh.gif He was well impressed with the design. Said he like the One's design too but can't bring himself to buy an HTC (this mirrors my sentiment on a Samsung). This is coming from someone who cares a LOT about aesthetics, mind.

He confessed to never seeing himself buying a Sony prior to this (he's a huge Apple fan). Brought him to a Sony Centre and played around with the phone. He was well impressed. laugh.gif

Question to those in Singapore/knows the techy places well:

Where's the best place he can get a good deal in Singapore? Iirc, someone said bugis street? Is this still the latest info or is there somewhere better to buy it at?

Edit: Sorry for the wall of text guys sweat.gif Just realised how long my reply was

I'm using a Motorola one. It's my favourite for one reason: integrated cable. Makes traveling with one so much more convenient and easy! The model I purchase only has 1800mAh, but it's enough to boost the Xperia Z to survive one full day of moderately heavy usage, but it's small and light. There is of course a 4000mAh model.

Yeah... I ended up Googling and wound up with Docomo Skin as well. Yep.. loving the extra toggle.. can retire my Notification Toggle program already.. LoL..

Two more mod that's pretty cool for those who likes to get rid of clutters: LMT Launcher and Slidebar.

LMT Launcher basically can be used as a Navigation Bar replacement, heavily promoted in the previous threads from what I have seen.

Slidebar on the other hand is just a shortcut bar that you have that slides out when you do an off-screen swipe from the side, revealing a bar where you can have shortcuts/apps/some toggles as well.

Replying mainly so I remember where to look for those two mods you mentioned laugh.gif

I'm really looking forward to using an android. Just biding my time before deciding between this and the One. Leaning more towards the Sony now though. Ever since the One didn't fare too well in the drop test and the tear down sweat.gif

My days on an iOS are numbered. Goodbye apple, helloooooo android! laugh.gif

Oh - and thanks to whoever that gave me those links for getting the phone in singapore. For some strange reason, the multiquote isn't working...and it's too much hassle going back to look for it sweat.gif

Just FYI, LMT Launcher requires root access (which can be easily achieved currently) while Slidebar can be done on stock firmware.

When I do get an android, first order of business would be to Root the phone. Customisation is a must biggrin.gif

Llama - Location Profiles

Basically it's something like Tasker I think.

You set "Conditions" and it will perform "Actions" based off those conditions.

Like whenever I run programs such as Play Store, Chrome, RSS Readers etc, it will disable my screen timeout. Whenever I am home, it will switch on WiFi. When I am at work, Vibrate will be off, media volume 0 and ringer at 30%. When my screen goes off, it switches off LTE. When my screen on, LTE is on. Etc etc. It's very powerful, just need to spend some time setting it up.

Wow. That's better than NFC tags. No need to touch at all!

You, my good sir, share the most awesome of apps notworthy.gif

Hand itching to get an android pronto laugh.gif

You're welcome. smile.gif

It's a little harder/trickier to set up. Not sure what effects it has on battery life as well, but it is something I can't live without. Everything has been automated for me. My Bluetooth volume even changes to the "optimum" level base on the device I'm connected to. Car, headphone, headset, waterproof speakers that I use in the shower... yes.. I have a waterproof Bluetooth speakers in my shower.. LMAO

I think I'll check the Apple appstore to see if there's something similar. Would be awesome to try it out first.

On a different note, I bought the Zephyr app from the Cydia store for my phone. Is there something similar to it on Android? Googled (albeit very lazily thanks to a laggy computer) and seems like there isn't an exact replica.

This is probably the best app ever designed for a full touchscreen interface imho. Would be great if I could port it over to an Android.

EDIT: We surpassed the 2.5k limit btw. Shouldn't someone start a new thread?
