4.2 was released in Oct2012. Are you reading some very old reviews or its beta versions
Latest is now 4.2.2 n in next few months we will see v5.0
By than probably this Xperia will see only most v4.2.2

Hopefully we will get 5.0 Previous experience with Sony, they will update to the next OS but stops there to make way for the upcoming models cry.gif

What can I do if I rooted my phone? Can install custom rom and kernels right? Then what does unlocking the bootloader do?

rip off all bloatwares.. brows.gif

For unlock bootloader you can install custom mods and kernel but use at own risk. For normal root you can remove all unwanted software that preinstalled with your phone and also allow you to use root required apps such as titanium backup and also jack sparrow apps whistling.gif

Most people associate XL as the X Lite version, the second best tag, hence more go for X though they have the same specs essentially.. No one like second best just look at how bad the sales for lumia820...even Sony own promo brochures for X and XL,  one looks like a 5 millions property brochure the other looks like a Tesco pamphlet

I do agree that the marketing has been biased with XZ instead of XZL. In the end i end up buying XZL. Looking for the casing and SP has been a nightmare since all shop carry only XZ accessories. (Finally bought from yeelin). This XZL reminds me of my old Xperia X10, almost the same shape.

Personally, the XZL is much compact and easier to handle since I have small hand sad.gif and furthermore I dont have to worry bout the waterproof thingy since I know for sure that it is not rclxms.gif I'm quite clumsy with the phone so no worries bout the glass at the back also smile.gif

In the end it the matter of flavor. Both are the same ice cream just different flavors and toppings rclxub.gif
