Hi everyone, I just got my STPM result with CPGA 1.67 only which is really bad!!

Result:
PA: C- (1.67)
EKONOMI: C- (1.67)
PENGAJIAN PERNIAGAAN: C- (1.67)
MATHEMATICS S: C- (1.67)
MUET: BAND 3

I dint expect to get this kind of result and now feel very low... sad.gif but life goes on no matter what happened so now i decided to continue my study in uni... I know its impossible to enter local U so i choose private U which the fees is not so expansive. But now I have some questions about which I can enter. I'm interested to study IT now but the problem is I can straight enter degree? or I need to enter Foundation/Diploma? My result of SPM is 2A 3B 4C 1D. and any suggestion for cheaper fees private U? I'm thinking about MMU...

I am really sorry to know about your results. They are not very ideal indeed. However, it is still worth a try! Get yourself a UPU pin number and start looking up courses (and universities) which are not in high demand. You might just be lucky and get one of your 8 choices...no one knows what will happen, right?

At the same time also apply for private universities, just in case the UPU results came out as a disappointment.

Yep! Go for it man! Do not give up hope until the very last second...when the UPU results are announced. Even after they are announced and it turned out that you were not offered a place, you can still launch an appeal. Whenever there is an opportunity, grab hold of it tight. You might not know what can that opportunity do for you. icon_rolleyes.gif

You need to study foundation/diploma because you failed the subjects. If not mistaken, some college offers cutting of 1 semester if you attended form 6 before.

If you apply through UPU of course it is for a degree course. Unless you applied for diploma, then that is different.

I was in your situation few years back. I got a lower CGPA than yours but i have got 2 subjects which is 2.0 than above. (credit)

There are certain universities that allows you to enrol into a degree course straight away. Eg, like SEGI and so on.

But there are those which requires at least 3 credits.Unfortunately MMU are one of those. Which means if you really want MMU, you have to start from foundation once again.

Which means basically your classmates will be 2 years younger than you. tongue.gif No worries. Sooner or later you will get used to it. But make sure you choose the course you want and be committed to the cause.

Btw, once you managed a first class CGPA ,no one will laugh at you again. smile.gif

STPM is already a Pre-U course so don't need to take another foundation or a Pre-U course. Can straight go to degree if the uni accepts you.

I thought for IT degree courses, C grades still can qualify and yours is STPM so your C grades is ranked higher than C grades of shorter length pre-uni courses. It is like A -Levels C grade is ranked higher than SAM (South Australian Matriculation) C grade. No?

STPM per se is a pre-university qualification so you need not to do another equivalent course like A-Level or Foundation to be entitled for a degree course.
My suggestion here is to apply to any local private universities that you're interested at and who knows? You might be offered a place!

Wrong information here. STPM results is only valid for applicant to skip foundation if there are at least a minimum of 2 credits (For some uni its 3).

As in TS case, he doesn't have a credit at all, which makes it almost impossible for reputable colleges to allow him a straight entry into any degree courses.

I obtained 2 credits.

Went to SEGI, I took degree
Jump to MMU, I have to start from Foundation. The Entry requirement is there.
