Hi sifus/guys,
I'm looking to venture into ICE soon but wish to learn as much before proceeding.
I currently have a stock Honda ('95 Civic) sound system but am using Pioneer HU DEHP-5550 (forgot the model).
Please help answer some of my questions below:-

1. Do I buy the components/woofer first or amplifier first?
2. What's the significant difference between buying a 2-channel and 4-channel amp?
3. I'm only thinking of one piece of 12" woofer. What are the specs I need to see?
4. If the tweeters are 80W and mid bass speakers are 160W, does that mean I need a 480W amp to play it (80W + 160W x 2 sides)?
5. Are Pioneer's component set good? How about Mohawk??

I'm not looking for a system that can blast off my car but I listen to alternatives, jazz, classical, hip-hop, pop and a little trance/techno. Hence, can I say I shud prioritize my system to be "mid-bass" style??
Please help.
Thanks a lot!!!

1. Component comes 1st
2. same , but 4channel have more output to cater more drivers
3. Power needed (RMS not PMPO/peak power)
4. i seldom see mid bass dat need 160w to power them up, but a 150 x 4 amp will be enuf
5. Pioneer component ? forget it.. the current model of pioneer speakers are all crap..mohawk is another entry level products..if u're on low budget..not a bad choice..

last but not least..pls kindly state ur budget

thx drift,
I'm thinking of setting RM1.5K for 3 items first:-

1. Component sets (RM500)
2. Amplifier (RM500)
3. Woofer (RM500)

Maybe you can advise me on what are the nice brands that I can check out?
I've read in some of the threads taht if I got myself a woofer, I don't need a 6x9" speakers? If that's the case, then it's better for me to leave my stock rear speakers alone?? Thx!!

@crazie,
Hmm...Miri ar?? Might be going there soon....Hehehhe
I think I saw someone selling components at the Garage Sale.
Will check it out...
Maybe after I've got the front components, then I'll start to look for an amp.
What is the average price for a decent 4 channel amp?? RM700-RM1k??

are you planning to upgrade to add a amplater time? if yes...my choice from the list would be the SS... but you dun plan to add a amp... chose the one tht has the lowest RMS... so tht you can squeeze as much bits out from it using your HU...

cheers...

XSC.6 is the Xtream series, while the LS.60C is the L.O.S series

The former is rated at 150watts RMS, while the later is 130watts RMS.

somehow.... i think the later looks nicer tongue.gif

i'm not sure about upgrade amp.
but if get a decent amp is not a cheap thing.
so i think i will plan upgrade an amp around few years later,
since i still study now so not good to spend too much on this.
my HU is pioneer wif RMS 22W
so soundstream LS.60c shud be the best choice rite?

Well, unfortunately, the SS components are in 6.5'.
I would prefer to get the 6' as I don't need to do much to fit 6.5' instead.
Can anyone please recommend a decent 2/4 channel amp for me please??
Thanks!!!
