Just notice this, .co.vu is letting user to sign up for 2 domain names for free. Sign up at http://setup.co.vu

It is still relatively new, so they are plenty of domain name available.

This is from the faq:

What is co.vu?
It's a domain name provider. i.e. You can have your own custom owned domain names for free. Example: myname.co.vu , mycompany.co.vu

What is the use of having your own domain name?
- You can publish your contents in his own name. yourname.co.vu.

- A small scale Industry can start its own custom domain name based website. eg.. mycompany.co.vu

- Everyone can select their own custom domain names for their websites.(Whether it's Personal, Social Networking, Business, e-commerce, and everything). You can keep your favorite name as the domain name of your website, that too for free.

So, grab it quick if you are interested.

Seems like they will renew it for free as long as you use the domain and not parking it for reserving purpose.

What happens when my domain name expires?

We want to have fare use policy. If you are effectively using your domain we will automatically renew your domain name for free. You don't have to worry about it.
But if you are just holding/blocking the domain name without using it, you need to upgrade to paid plan for holding it longer. If you are not upgrading your domain, it will available for others to register.

Totally free. You'll have to purchase "domain points" to add more than 2 domains. It supports DNS but for name servers you need to pay or be premium or something like that. I'm using it and so far it's alright, does the job for my servers. Though this isn't really a "domain" (it's not a TLD), and rather a subdomain. But it's nice and short.

Honestly, I wouldn't rely much on domains like this, even like previous .co.cc and.tk
If you want to use for testing purposes, or new to domain/hosting, then can just try to test the waters.
Once you know how to set DNS and stuff like that, might as well purchase a domain name from a wellknown registrar like Namecheap or Godaddy. It doesn't cost that much, and if you're lucky enough can get discounts smile.gif

True. These are considered subdomains, so your domain is actually part of a subdomain that isn't really 100% trusted. Your domain isn't even yours. The site can anytime take it away from you, and such. It's not safe. Purchasing a domain is the best decision to make unless you're just testing things.

Ya, also want to note out what other members have said. co.vu is not a tld domain. I guess it works well for url shortener that links to your long url site. But don't count on it to build your brand name because you don't exactly own the domain. You can often find a $0.99 godaddy domain to sign up for a true tld domain smile.gif
