My EB gonna be 1 year soon... So its time for the insurance renewal...  Whats the ideal sum insured after a year ? In the quotation they sent me it 77K. I doubt. I think it can be lower like 65K... anybody done theirs ?

RM77k is too much. Just ask your agent to print out the value put up insurers, they have a formal list. Try to follow the recommended price even though they tend to be higher than the price you can get if you were to sell ur EB to used car dealers. This is because if you dont follow their price and should you lost your car or your car wrecked as total lost, they can claim that you are under insured and penalize you accordingly.

always learning new stuff.

First time I hear of autofoam and stiff rings. Now, I have been considering soundproofing my EBP. Is autofoaming a better way to go than to put in those soundproofing mats? Is it horribly expensive?

Stiff rings. Do they make a big difference? Is the benefit mostly 'unseen' and 'unfelt' like only prolonging the life span of undercarriage parts or can we actually 'feel' less vibration and 'hear' less noise?

Bro, i changed them once at 20,000km (one of the plugs not good). That time i'd used the same NGK ILKAR7G7 but you may cross reference see whether any brand does the same.

For the stiff rings around RM230-250.

I looked up on internet and there is this one website Stiff Ring by Speed Mod Motorsport (SA0050479-M). They quote RM240 front kit for exora, plus RM50 installation at Cheras HQ. Front kit implies there are other kits as well? How many rings do we need?

Thanks

stormy, i've been driving my EBP for a few months now, on highways and byways. I am totally baffled by your experience. My EBP has good performance in terms of power and drivability. At 110km/h, rpm around 2400. Smooth acceleration from 0-110. Reversals are normal. Once I tested and reached 170+ and maintain it for 5min or so before throttling back down. I hardly ever go over 120 in the past but in the EBP, i sometimes lose myself and found myself cruising at 140. Always had to consciously keep my foot light to remain within speed limit. Even at 170, the EBP was stable albeit the engine was loud

1. Was in D mode (never use L mode so far). Maintained cruising speed of 110kmph at highway with very light-footed,  observed rpm was 2500 rpm.

2. it reached 120kmph, but car very hesitate to move any faster, have to really press hard on the gas pedal, then it will faster a little bit. (it was like something is try pulling back the car even you are pressing hard on the gas pedal to make it fast).

So from the reply of other bros, it seems like 2400 rpm ~ 2500 rpm is considered normal for 110kmph cruising speed for exora cfe. Actually this is still quite high rpm even compared to toyota wish that is using CVT as well, which is much lower rpm when cruising at 110kmph (could be due to turbo charged on exora).

Anyway, i think i will get the SC to check and see if software reflash needed.

EBP has a 1.6 engine. Wish i think is 1.8 or 2.0? Bigger cc = less rpm to achieve similar speed? I used to drive a manual Wira 1.5. it hits 3000rpm when i drive at 110-120.

EBP has absolutely no trouble going past 120. My problem is always keeping it BELOW 120 when I see other cars zoom past me tongue.gif

Hi all. Just to share my recent experience (and also to sway those sitting on the fence between EBP thumbup.gif and alza doh.gif )

I've been to two Proton service centres. the 1000km service I did it in Batu Pahat, the 10000km I did it in SS14. The one in bp was super friendly, very helpful and all around good service. The one in SS14 was very quick (in and out in less than an hour) but they put in an engine oil of a different spec than I asked, eventhough I stressed on it. The SC personnel did apologise and say that he 'highlighted' to the foreman but the foreman put in different one because they dont have the one that I asked for. shakehead.gif I also find that the ss14 ppl dirtied my car as you can see bootprints, handprints and dusty prints all over the cushion, steering wheel and back rests. doh.gif So, two Proton SCs, two different experiences.

I usually travel 260km on highway roads on a single run. Factoring in return journey, that's 520km once a week. I usually limit myself to 120km/h although I usually over a bit to 140 and sometimes when the other driver really irritated me, I floor it to 160 just to show him his ah beng modified all noise but no poise kancil should know its place. tongue.gif I can usually travel around 600km+ per tank before topping up for RM110.

Recently, I have reason and time to drive slowly on the highways. I went between 85-105km/h for the same 260km stretch of highway. My trip meter is showing 600km travelled with one bar remaining. The display estimate I can still go for 130km on the remaining fuel. That's 730km on a single tank! A new record for me. I guess the sweet spot for highway drive is around 90km/h. If 100% highway, I think can easily stretch to 750km on a single tank. That's around 1L = 13.5km. This is no worse than my manual 1.5 wira.

I love my EBP icon_rolleyes.gif
