Sad to know the runner for Sinanju OVA ver had no different with KA version, except for the bazooka and paintable ABS frame.
*
implying that the previous frame on the Sinanju is not paintable? hmm.gif

"paintable" is a wrong word to describe, a more accurate term would be paint-friendly.

its not advisable to paint over ABS especially with lacquer. The chemical in it makes ABS brittle, if u r lucky nothing happen but it could crack randomly. Of cuz u can fix this by priming it 1st but some ppl r lazy n just paint over it directly. The new frame is made of PS much like the outer armor, u can directly paint on it without worrying bout it breaking apart.
*
then in this case, isn't the problem laziness instead of the material used? i know on paper there is a warning, BUT if you follow all the right steps, no problems right?

Yes and no. Yes in that ppl r lazy to prime and paint and r doing it wrong, no in that if u follow the proper step ur gonna increase the number of layer and will make the joint uber tight may even scratch off the paint job as u move it into position.

From a business perspective u nid to consider the wider appeal it will generate. If u r Bandai of cuz u wan to make it as easy as possible for ppl to build n customize to expend ur market range, sure skipping that xtra step is not really a big improvement but an improvement nonetheless and u can tag it on the advertising as something new and improve to generate interest. Also consider that by doing priming ur adding more time to ur schedule of completion, the faster we can complete a kit the more we can build in a given time and the more kits we will buy hence more profit for Bandai.
*
actually, a layer of primer and paint, if done properly will not really make the joint that tight. people are just lazy, period. wink.gif

and i don't think bandai's main revenue comes from modellers, but rather people who snap fit, and display their model. and let's be honest, since when has the whole logic of "i'll only buy something once i've finished building" ever work? if it did, people wouldn't have backlogs. nod.gif

after all that's being said tho, i just disagree that people say ABS frame cannot be painted on. it can be, if you're not lazy and an additional layer of paint really won't make much of a difference if you do it right.

HG gundam for me quite cheap, around rm 40-80. 1/100 scale gundam around 80-120

majority and minority argument? Ok let me counter with the following:

Current frame design satisfy both oob builder and custom builder.
Single frame design satisfy only oob builder. May i ask which design holds the majority here?

No doubt this system is good on RG, but do u know why it was use in the 1st place? Its cuz tey hav no choice, assembling things at 1/144 is small enuf, building innerframe manually will be too small and the plastic will be too fragile this approach is understandable. MG however is on a different scale, u can afford thicker plastic. Nobody complains its too complex to build, so why make it simpler when there is no reason for it? RG is a revolution in the 1/144 scale no doubt, however it is not anything new in 1/100. MG caters to all modelers. U wan oob ok good just follow instruction, if u wan custom build ok no problem parts are separate u wan paint it cut it do as u wish. Therein lies the different. Ur single frame proposal prohibits customization. U still think such a system is an advancement?
*
actually..

size difference between a smaller mg i.e crossbone, victory, or wing kits are not very much bigger than a hg, and they still have full frames around them.

also, if you're seriously spanking good, a set frame or not will not really deter you from making mods. if that prevented people, then we wouldn't see rg mods around mah right? but there are. not many, but still got. and besides, the oob builder is the majority of the buyers out there. that's why bandai keeps making re-colors. things like gunpla builder kits, and expo kits come to mind in this circumstance. and they get snapped up in an instant! and if you are committed to do a custom job, nothing in the world will stop you from getting that kit, regardless of color, articulation, etc etc. if the person doesn't like something, he will just mod it.

IMO, bandai is going into expanding their customer base. so they would want to introduce things like better color separation, improved articulation, and fancy gimmicks of the like. the current fan base will buy, regardless of what comes out.. and in the end, their main target market is japanese.. as long as the japanese market is happy, all is well.
