This just in!

Playworks Sunway Pyramid is organising another Winning Eleven 9 (PS2) Tournament! The rules and regulations are the same as the previous tournament, but with one exception: NATIONAL TEAMS are used this time.

Here are the full rules for the competition:

Venue: Playworks Entertainment Centre, Sunway Pyramid (at lowest floor in Sunway Pyramid, near the Archery Range)

Rules and regulations:

1. Use NATIONAL teams (both players are allowed to use the same team, for example, Brazil vs Brazil)
2. Open for all ages
3. The mode of the tournament is league / round robin
4. RM 30 will be charged upon registration
- If you bring 3 other friends to register, you will get to pay only RM15 for registration fee (but your 3 friends will each have to pay the full RM30)
- If you bring 4 other friends to register, you will get to register for free (but your 4 other friends will each have to pay the full RM30)
5. You are allowed to bring your own controller
6. Match will be played on the following settings:
- 10 min per half (the registration form says 10 min per half, but I think it's an error: I think it should be 10 mins per game. Melampau la if 20 mins per game...)
- Camera: Wide
- 3 substitutions
- Winners of each group will be determined by accumulated points:
WIN = 3 points DRAW = 1 point LOSE = 0 point
7. Each match will be adjudicated by an umpire and decision shall be final
8. For any reason a player withdraws from the tournament at any time, their opponent will be deemed to have won the match and there will be no refund
9. No penalty kicks for draw games

1st Preliminary Round: 15th April 2006
2nd Preliminary Round: 22nd April 2006

SEMIFINAL AND FINAL WILL BE HELD ON 29th APRIL 2006

Prizes:

1st: RM500 + Trophy
2nd: RM300 + Trophy
3rd: RM200 + Trophy

*NOTE THE HIGHER PRIZE MONEY COMPARED TO BEFORE FOR 2ND & 3RD PLACES.

For further info, please call (10 am to 10 pm) 03-74910805: Mr Helmi Hassan and Mr Azlan Mansor

*Note: Each of the Preliminary Rounds are open to everyone. This means, you can register for any one of those rounds. For example, let's say you register for the 1st round. But you fail to qualify. So, you can still try again by registering for the 2nd round (If you joined the qualifying round on 15th April but fail to qualify, you can register for the 2nd qualifying round on 22nd April, but u need only pay RM15 as registration fee).

Also, if you feel that you cannot come for the 1st round, you can straight away register for the 2nd round.

Also, please note that this time, the number of people qualifying for the final round on 29th April 2006 is proportional to the number of participants in each qualifying round. According to what the organiser said: If in that qualifying round many people come, then the number of ppl qualifying will be many. But if less, then there'll be less number of qualifiers. I guess it is like that in order to be fair lah kot.

Come all, let's join this tourney! thumbup.gif

Please note that I've edited the rules & regulations post above, to accurately reflect the information that I got from the organisers.

I and another 3 of my friends have registered. It's no shocker really to find that almost everyone is using Brazil. 1 person's using Argentina, and 2 people (me included) are using England. All 3 of my friends are using Brazil. And the people that registered before me are all using Brazil, if what the organiser said is true.

Huhu... Tukar la selera korang ni pun... Brazil je all the time...

Strangest was Juve? Nahhh... Juve wasn't strange. They're quite strong actually. Effy used Juve, and look what he got: 3rd place.

Anyway, even though they allow us to change, I don't think I'll use Brazil: Brazil's players just can't fit into my style of play. I've tried, and memang tak ngam. Surprisingly, England's players are well-suited to my playing style, which as you all know, is using very wide wingers. Heheh.

May the best player win! See you guys this Saturday!

Heheh. Effy, ko pakai Brazil gak la? Aku pakai England weh. Sweden tu, mesti Nasmin ek? Dulu pernah lawan dia International, dia suka pakai Sweden. Huhu.

Kena watch out your Adriano tuh. Mesti man-mark! Huhu...

Well, as good as people thought I was, I wasn't THAT good. Yes I qualified (via 3rd place), but my performance was quite bad.

I used England that day for all my games, and I must remind myself to not use that team again. It was kind of an average team lah, that England. I thought it was suitable for my playing style, but when I play against other people, especially those using Brazil, always ada problem je.

There's this 1 guy in the team - Munawar - everybody thought he would lose and fail to qualify, but he totally flew under everyone's radar and got 1st place! Against me, he beat me 2-0. He used Brazil, and I must say his playing style wasn't that skilful. But he beat me with 2 Ronaldo shots from far away. I started the game well, but when he scored that 2nd goal, I know that I won't win.

Anyway, I finally qualified, with 14 points total. The top 2 in my group - Munawar & Meng Heng - got 15 points each. I won 4, lost 2, drew 2.

By the way, I'm planning to use Italy in the finals. Tried using Italy this weekend after the tournament, and I felt that it was far better compared to England. Gilardino's superb! When using him, I felt like his performance are a bit like Ronaldo. But Italy's bench isn't as deep as England's or Brazil's - too little subs, and only average performers on the bench.

Anyone wanna have a practice match with me? I'd love to try out against other players, using Italy.

4-3-3 is more attacking, while at the same time, not leaving the back undefended. That's why it's a good formation. And when you exploit the fact that the opponent's RB & LB normally leave the RWF & LWF alone when you put them very wide like I do... it's easy to counter-attack.

Gilardino's dribbling speed is a problem? Not with me, coz I use him as CF. And as you know, I normally don't start my moves with the CF. The CF normally stays in the middle, and rarely moves out. So, he won't move much. If I can use Adriano in Inter (whose dribbling speed is quite slow too), I find that Gilardino is good as a CF. Montella becomes my sub when Pirlo or Totti is totally down (grey colour).

Casssano, I put him as wing, coz he dribble very fast. I need fast players to dribble past defenders at the wing, coz there's where my attack normally starts. Totti is good for scoring from afar. Pirlo's good for short free kicks, while Totti's good for long free kicks.

All in all, much better than England. You want to play? Can, but I don't know where we can play. If you'd like to come to my house, that's no problem. But you kinda live quite a long way away from my house, which is in SS3 PJ...

If only you have an original PES5 PC version. Then that would be simpler, coz then we can play online.

How old are you anyway Cannavaro? If you're old enough to drive, you can always drive to my house. I'd be happy to receive your visit so that we can practice. I haven't yet practiced with another person using Italy, so I don't know how effective I can be playing against another person. Against the computer, so far much better than England.

Time wasting? Haven't yet so far, but hmmm... that is a good tactic to do right? After all, there's nothing in the rules stating that you cannot waste time. Hehehe. But so far I haven't done that unsporting thing yet. And I don't plan to. It's a game, after all, and a game's meant to be enjoyed.

Good luck to those trying out for this weekend's qualifiers.

Prashant? Good luck in the tourney this Saturday. Hope we'll meet each other in the finals. You haven't played for quite some time? Or are you still terer? Hehehe.

I'd be happy to play against anyone willing to spend some time playing the game with me. I want to improve, and yes, as prash said, playing against the computer, even at 6 stars, will not improve us a lot. Coz they're too predictable.

Format utk finals: 1st there will be group league stage. 22 players will be participating in the finals, so most probably they'll divide us into 2 groups of 5 players and 2 groups of 6 players. Then, top 2 players from every group will go on to the quarter finals, then semis, then final. Simple. smile.gif

Ohhh.. sian korang. Nak tau who won?

1st = Fairuz, orang yg takde sape kenal pun sebelum nih. First time main tournament, terus menang. Power.

2nd = Saiful.

3rd = Soong, orang yg dapat 1st dlm tourney Playworks February 2006.

4th = Paan.

The surprising fact is that orang2 yg dapat 2nd (Nikman/Blankerroo), 3rd (Effy), & 4th (Terry) dalam Playworks tourney February dulu semua tak lepas group stage masa finals. Huhu.

Ntah la kilat. Aku bukan rapat pun dgn staff2 sana tuh. Tapi kalo skrg gitau diorg nama aku Nikman, diorang kenal la. Sbb bulan 2 aritu tourney Playworks aku dapat No 2. Sbnarnye aku tak kisah pun nak main PS2 sgt. PS3 pun rasa tak kisah sgt kot. Lagi prefer main kat PC.
