I'm currently using stock samsung rom and have setup everything including calendar events, contact, apps, etc. After reading from the forum, I am planning to flash Omega rom but before I do that, I would like to understand the following

1. The latest omega rom is v13 which is based on MB4. My phone show as MB2. Can I flash MB4 rom to MB2?

2. Since I have setup everything on my stock rom, before I flash the new rom, can I clone the whole phone so that I can restore back to original state in the event that I do not want to use omega rom?

1. Yes you can flash without any problem.
2. Do a nandroid backup before you flash anything just in case.
You need to root your phone and get cwm or twrp recovery. Then just flash away biggrin.gif

Noted with thanks. One more final question before flashing the rom tonite

1. After flashing the rom, I believe everything will be wipe out, right? Can I use titanium backup to restore all my apps, sms, call log, contact, calendar event, alarm, settings, etc?

2. If I have nandroid backup, I can restore back to original stock rom state (everything will looks the same as before), right

I am a little worry that all data will be gone since this is the first time I'm doing rom flashing.

U can actually do a dirty install and only do a full wipe if u have problems like force close . Dirty install means u dont wipe your data aka factory reset in recovery . Just flash it over your current rom . That way , all your apps + data + settings is all in tact . Choice is yours .

1. Flashing rom does not wipe your data so no worry but I usually did a clean wipe before install any rom to avoid any problem like FC. Backup all apps and its data thru titanium backup. Contact on google account. Sms on " contact and sms backup apps " . Do not restore system settings like alarm preference etc via titanium as it usually cause problem. Manually setting it back wont take much time.

2. Nandroid backup will restore everything as the time you backup, everything period.

Noted with thanks. Will try it tonight.

No. Please do a full wipe. Currently you are on stock rom which is odex form. Custom rom is deodex form and to prevent any complication later and a much nicer first flashing experience, better wipe.

OK, Noted. Thank you. Just completed Nandroid backup.

May I know whether the video calling found in Note 2 is free (like facetime in IPhone) or it's chargeable by the mobile operator.

Thanks

If u are using your telco's 3g call u will be charged. If u use video calling from skype or gvoice it will use yr data connection. If it is within your data plan's allocation it is "free".

When I open a contact, there is a "video call" below the phone number. Is that video call something like facetime in IP or it is using the celcom video calling which is chargeable. In iphone, facetime calling is free and it's only use data which is fine with me since I have unlimited package.

Celcom.

In celcom plan, there is an "Additional Usage" section, One of the service is called "Video Calling" which is chageable at 30cts per min. This is the area I am worry about. In Iphone, facetime video calling is free and only data is used. But since there is Video Call in Note 2, I am not sure whether it is using just data or use the video calling service offer by celcom.

Here the link to celcom : http://www.celcom.com.my/first/data/plans-and-services.php

3G video calling is a telco feature to suck more money add value for subscribers.

This has largely been supplanted by Video-over-IP by Skype and other similar apps.

Still, it isn't actually "free" as you have already paid for your data allocation, you are just sucking water from the pool you poured into.

So the short answer is that the Video Call button on your calling screen is the telco 3G Video calling.

Noted. So that video calling in note 2 is a no-go. I'll just use Skype or other alternative.

Thanks

I suspect that when something is running in the background (I mean running - doing certain task), the light will not lit. Just now, it happen again after restarting. Then I unmount the sdcard to force stop mediascanner, and mount the card back, the light lit again.

Can you test if this still happen by uninstalling viber? It should also solve your mediascanner issue.
*
Is it, I thought mediascanner is a JB bug. I read it from XDA forum
