How to refund a bank draft from maybank ?
A bank draft had been cancelled but need to write in a letter to refund back the money ?

need to go to which bank u bought the draft. .some times it take up to 2 week to get back ur money with some fees that be gonna deduct from the total amount

But they told me that have to write in a letter to get back the money?
Can anyone tell me the format of the letter or what should i write in the letter ?

for cimb..just walk in .no need any letter. they will return to u the copy of bank draft to ur reference (I just wrote that I want to cancel the draft at the back of ori bank draft incl acc no)

different bank might use differnt policy

to cancel the bank draft all you need is to bring the back draft with the receipt to the bank where you purchased the bank draft. If you lost the receipt you need to pay penalty...

no need letter...just walk in to the same bank u purchased it
give them the bankdraft and the form u filled when u purchased it (sumtimes the wont need it)
pay rm5 if i'm not mistaken
u get back ur money

For maybank, just bring the bankdraft and the receipt form (blue color copy) and walk-in to the counter.
It charges RM2. You can get refund in cash or transfer it to ur maybank acc.

Can I cancel the bank draft without original bank draft but just with the receipt?

i think think is can do that, ....as the original bank draft may have been lost during transit. What do you think?

The original bank draft is required for any cancellation of bank draft.

A bank draft is technically a cheque issued by a bank which is as good as cash to the recipient.

If for whatever reason the original bank draft cannot be located or missing, cancellation can only be done six months after the issue date.

This is because any cheque including a bank draft which is issued more than six months will be considered void.

yes, looks like the bank allows that (cancelling without the original draft/banker's cheque).....there will be fees incurred too

i think that can be done without the need to wait for 6 months for that would be like tying down the cash flow of businesses for 6 months when they need to cancel that upon realising that the cheque is missing.

if the person who issue the cheque cancel it first then, the receiver cannot cash it out later...

Any cancellation b4 6 months need written confirmation from payee as the beneficial owner.

That is why in any debt settlement, contract or tender, personal cheque is NOT accepted as payment.

that good for 6 months mean can cash out anytime within 6 months...not cannot cancel within 6 months

Personal cheque is not accepted as payment bcos there is no credible proof that the issuer has money in the bank to pay.

If the payee request for bank draft as payment, there is no reason to cancel the cheque !

The payee can return the cheque, if for eg the tender is not successful and the payer can then go the bank to have it cancel.

what if the banker cheque is lost during transit?

Written confirmation from payee that draft is lost and the bank cannot be held responsible for non payment if is bank in later, if found.

I submit a bank draft of RM50,000 for tender JPJ car registration number. If i change my mind, can I ...

1. Retrieve my tender document ? .... No.

2. If JPJ dont allow, I proceed to cancel bank draft ... report lost ! According to you, is yes.

3. What happens if my bid is accepted by JPJ ? Can JPJ bank-in the draft ?

so that means no need to wait 6 months to have it cancelled without original draft

from that reply, seems like a yes....
the bank has already set this fees to be charged for cases like that as posted earlier.
