I thought I make a thread where we can share and post how much we are all paying for our gym memberships; and we can compare between gyms and also have more transparency in the costs. So we know if we are paying too much than we should or being cheated from cunning gym salesmen. From researching, there is a huge discrepancy from RM100-200/month for the same exact type of membership. Why can't the big gyms like CF, FF, TF offer fixed prices and state them on their websites/banners instead of isolating new prey and con them?

So i will list my own.

Gym: Celebrity Fitness
Membership Type: Single branch (1Utama)
Contract: 1 year
Date signed: Jan 2013
Cost: RM173/month (+ ~RM400 sign up/admin fee)

Gym: FF
Membership Type: platinum (world wide access)
Contract: 1 year
Date signed: 2009
Cost: RM190 plus 6% gov tax = RM210.40nett/mth
Initial fee: can't remember (approx RM400?!)
Benefit: membership more then 10mths, could bring 1 friend on weekend.

When I registered in few yrs ago, monthly fee was RM215. Then, changed to the current one.
I wish FF offers cheaper option such as one branch only...

They do offer single club memberships. Do check with them. This means you are downgrading your membership (which I think they might not make it easy for you).

Gym: Fitness First
Membership Type: Platinum
Date signed: 2011
Cost: RM2106/year (paid in Dec'12)
Initial fee: Don't remember, I think I managed to talk them to waive it or lowered it
Benefit: All clubs access and can bring 1 friend on weekends (not sure if now they included Friday as well).

If you pay with CC, you can waive off the 6% laugh.gif

Argued with the CS regarding the 6%.. If they don't want waive, I also will cancel membership trolololol.

Ridiculous, really.

And there is single membership, for about 160 which they will never tell you about.

Such strange pricing dependent on towels. Who would pay double just to have rental towels?
But anyway, Jatomi looks promising and better than CF; just wish they opened a branch near to me.

If we choice to enrol in platinum FF club, then they do not offer the home or single membership.

When I enquiried with FF Menara Axis (non-platinum), the consultant did mentioned about home membership. But we can only go for that one branch only and no towel is provided.

It depends on who you talk to really.

Yes it's true. Like for the FF i'm in, there is only one membership - Platinum. It's the 'take it or leave it' because there's no other options. Anyway it's good to have a passport/ Plat membership 'coz you can go to any other FF gym at your convenience.

There's only 4 platinum clubs in KL anyways.

House membership does include towel and no towel. Ask nicely and they'll explain.

If you don't plan to go other branch, House Membership is good to have.

It shouldn't be so expensive...They quote me RM15X/RM16X for house memberships just months back. RM190 is for platinum membership.

I'd like to know - is the payment method different for every outlet? FF BBT Klang doesn't take cash payment each month. They said only by CC or Auto Debit from bank. Is this true?

Really hate the non transparency pricing in commercial gyms. Really gives an unprofessional impression on them. Salesman are lurking all around hunting for newbies joining.

Im based at SG, subscribed to California fitness for only 57$/month. The normal fee would be 95$ with GST. Just that I was lucky I sign under a team leader, someone who has higher authorithy. So he gave me 'Corporate membership' package, which is supposed to be for companies endorsing their employees to sign up at cheaper rate. By right Im supposed to get the 'Individual membership' just like all of u.

Conclusion is: See how they can play around, with pricing also depends on alot nego. Promotions that waive reg+admin fees are also crap. All depends on how you push the salesman for a compromise.

Seems like some forumers like to help to make free advertisement for CF or want to make it look more mysterious about the monthly fee with the way "post and leave. If i am not wrong, the 120++ monthly fee is corporate plan when you have 20 and above persons in your company joining in the same time (I never heard cheap student rate since last year).

I find it too expensive for prices more than a hundred per month. Unless they have food and special treatments

Independant shop house gyms are normally less than 100. Mostly i'm talking about franchise gyms. I normally find shop house gyms dont have AC which i'm not comfortable.....high humidity

yeah, most shoplot gyms do. but for my gym the walk-in rate is pretty steep at around rm10 per entry. reason being because they want people to encourage peopl to sign-up for a membership. sweat.gif

I'm currently with CHi but my membership will end this year. Facilities pretty good. Can vary depending on outlets. You gotta see for yourself. However big outlet has massive crowd so there is a queue to use their equipment

If im note mistaken a colleague of mine is paying RM179 (can access all AF gym within Malaysia). This was 2 years ago and is corporate rate I believe.

Tried the place itself. personally equipment and environment wise, CF at 1U feels much better. but if you like the convenience of going whenever you want, it's for you.

What's the lock-in period?
*
I was paying RM169 per month using CC also previously at Anytime Fitness, lock in period is 1 year.
After that just need 1 month notice for cancellation. No additional charges.
